I love FP+! Love being able to choose the time of day I want to do something in advance and not be at the mercy of the return time clock. I want to ride Soarin right before lunch, I can schedule it. Don't have to be at the machine at the time I want comes up.

Of course, this assumes you are able to get want you want, and your plans don't change/get interrupted. But Yea that's a pro of the system. Takes out some of the spontaneity and gives you more a definitive plan to things.

Regardless of the outcome of any poll on any message board, the number that will remain constant is that 100% of everyone who wants to use FP at WDW will be using FP+. At least for the foreseeable future. I feel like time is better spent looking for improved strategies in the new system than to compare it to a system that is never coming back.

Interesting seeing the poll & reading what people think. Thanks to everyone who voted and/or posted.
I can see both +ve & -ve points to FP+, so l'm sitting on the fence so to speak until after our trip this summer.

Yep, everyone definitely has to make up their own mind on this one! I was absolutely anti FP+ until I tried it and I ended up really liking it.

We haven't used the system yet, but the piece that I believe my family will miss the most is losing the benefit FP- gave us in re-riding. We've been big re-riders since way back.

I've been to WDW with all three scenarios given in the poll. When there was no such thing as FP in any form, you just sucked it up and got in line if you wanted to ride. It was a level playing field, but not always a fun one. Legacy FP made it more fun, bur frustrating when you arrived at, say, the Studios by 10 a.m. to try and get a FP for Toy Story Mania and they were all gone. FP+ makes it easier to ride popular rides if you're willing to plan 60 days out, but that's not always fun either. Of the three systems, I picked FP+ simply because for me (a maniac planner) it works well. Also, I've been to WDW so many times now I know which attractions I like and which I don't so it weeds out what I'll reserve a FP+ for.

I don't hate or love either system, both have drawbacks and positives. I would say overall I slightly prefer the new system, but it still needs a lot of work and my husband will never like it because of having to know what park we are going to which day 60 days out. And before you say "well you already know that due to ADRs" we rarely do table service because we like to wing it and don't like how much time/money it eats up. Also, I think the new system works far better during low attendance times. We went last November and it was crowded and we never could get anything good for our 4th pass (everything with a wait was gone for the day) and we couldn't change our existing times (no other times available) so it felt rigid and inflexible. We just got back last week with low crowds and we made a point to use easywdw's calendar for the best park for each day and we were able to get good 4th FPs (never tried to get more than 4 a day) and we were able to change our times as needed for existing FPs. Basically we've decided to ONLY go during low crowd times from now on due to this new system.

FP+ Pros:
  • No running around to grab tickets like a crazy person.
  • *If* you are lucky enough to get what you want in advance, no stress about them running out of FP+ tickets for an attraction.
  • Knowing what you have ahead of time (husband hates this but for me it's a positive).
  • Being able to schedule them in the afternoon during peak times when the waits are worst.
  • Being able to sleep in and still know you have at least 3 good rides to FP+. We try to do rope drop but sometimes you're just too tired.

FP+ Cons:
  • Needing to know which park you will be in which day 60 days out.
  • Needing to get up in the middle of the night to get exactly what you want (SDMT/TSMM in particular).
  • During busy times having to stand in long lines at the kiosk to book 4th FP.
  • Running out of desirable FPs before you get to your 4th.
  • Being on a schedule - with old FP you could come back any time after your return time, now it has to be in a window.
  • Not being able to schedule them closer together than 1 hour. If the rides are close, you can be in and out of a ride in less than 30 minutes. That can leave a weird gap before your next pass where you don't have enough time to do stand-by for another ride, but you have too much time to kill.

Yes I know you can wing it and hope for the best but the chances of getting what you want when you want it (time of day) is much less.

I know it's been said before but to me a huge improvement would be an official, consistent way to book 4th, etc. passes on your phone. If they added that and 30 minute booking windows it would probably push me on over cleanly to the "like" side of this debate.

Does "legacy" imply before or after they started enforcing the end time?

This poll is still pretty split which kind of surprises me. It was that way in a previous poll too if I remember right.

When l posted the poll l simply had in mind FP prior to FP+ being introduced, l didn't realise at some point the end time wasn't enforced as on the occasions we had FP we came back within the time window.

So, if that's the way you feel, why are you posting here?:confused3

It was awesome. We'd have a stack of FPs that we could use at our leisure!

IMO there's a problem when a FP+ poll on a rabid disney fan site shows a 50-50 divide on the new system.

Somewhat disagree. There are "purists" who aren't going to like any change, especially when they've spent years perfecting the old way. Of course, there are legitimate gripes about the new system.

I wasn't around at the time, but I'd be willing to bet if you took a poll when FP- was first introduced, you'd have gotten a similar result! People don't like change. It takes time to learn a new system. They may not understand how the new one works. They've gotten used to doing things one way and sort of "mastered" it and the new system changes everything. The new system is still working out bugs. Either system is unfair to someone. Etc., etc., etc.Any number of reasons.

There are very few opinion questions you can ask here and not get a split vote.

I would venture to guess that this Poll is flawed and skews towards Legacy FP.

The reason I make this assumption is that Dis'ser (people who read DisBoards) are people who were more likely to have been able to maximize the Legacy FP system.

And since Dis'sers seemingly lost the most going from Legacy to FP+, they are going to vote negatively.

In the language of statistics - the Sample is flawed.

And yet, FP+ is leading in this Poll.
