That you will like FP+ less in the future?
Right now, if you can book in advance, you have a big advantage over on-site guests who don't know about FP+ and so aren't making reservations. Annual passholders may not yet have early access but will soon. Maybe off-site guests will have access in the future.

Is it possible that once this special trial period ends, the people who are at the biggest advantage right now (on-site guests who know about FP+ with a good amount of advance notice) won't like it as much? When it becomes common knowledge and more and more people have access?

I completely admit the other side. Those of us who often stay off-site will like FP+ more in the future, as well, when more people have access and we will feel less like 2nd priority Disney-goers. Disney will also improve the program and make it better.

People didn't understand regular Fast pass...you really think that many off site people will figure it out?

Yes, because Disney really wants them to this time. Why do you think FP+ usage has increased so much already?

Yes, this exactly. People whine and moan and groan about how the only people who don't like FP+ are the ones who used the old system, but in fact that system was underutilized.

We barely used old FP and I dread the new system the more people are allowed/encouraged to use it. The early morning SB lines are getting longer and longer (by pretty much all reports - go check out easywdw's latest posts for concrete details) which is a HUGE disadvantage over the old system.

The idea that people are happy to spend thousands of dollars to ride 6 rides per day is flabbergasting to me. We have gone twice with our boys - once at age 3, once at age 4 - and never rode fewer than 10+ rides per day! And that was without FP and in the hours between RD and 2pm!

Our typical day would be:
Pooh (walk-on), Pan(10min), Pooh(10min), Carousel(walk-on), Speedway(15min), Carousel(walk-on), Dumbo(walk-on), Barnstormer(5min), Train, BTMRR(15min), Train, Peoplemover(walk-on)

Thanks to the new system, it seems like the days of 5-10min waits and walk-ons past 10am will be things of the past.

SO if people do not ride 10+ attractions a day the trip is a waste? You do ralize that Disney trips are not always about how many rides you can hit a day. Some people go for the atmosphere and the parades and shows etc it isn't always about the rides. I have friends that do not like rides nor do their children but they LOVE Disney so you are saying they are wasting 1000s of dollars because they do not get to have 10+ rides.

I think you have misinterpreted the post.

Because your friends want shows and atmosphere my my 12 year old wants the big rides we have different things that are the highlight of our trip.

We DO soak up the atmosphere and enjoy other things the parks have to offer, but to imply that people who have members of their family for whom rides are really important and maybe even the most important part of the trip is really not ok.

WHo was making that assumption the poster I quoted was saying they did not see how someone could be happy with just getting on 6 rides a day. I was simply showing that not everyone went to Disney simply for rides so to assume that if you weren't getting on 10+ rides was a waste is false.

If you are staying on-site and link your AP, then you can make your selections at the 60 day mark just like everyone else. I would imagine that local AP holders will get in at the 30 day mark just like those not staying on property, which really isn't fair. They should get to make theirs at the 60 day mark too.

Up until recently, AP people did have the 60 day rule going for them..but it changed to 30 days. Here's why I think it happened. Those locals that hold APs tend to make last minute decisions to go to WDW..so a 30 day lead time is fine. Those AP people that live further away tend to stay onsite...so can book at 60 days. The people that are caught in the middle are those that hold APs but choose to stay off-site! They can book only 30 days out.

As long as resort guests get that addtl perk of being able to book at 60 days, I'm okay with it. I would be more okay with it if I got a few more FP+s each day and was able to use them in two different parks. But, maybe that's down the road..fingers crossed.

5 out of every 100

ummm yes. If it is simple for clueless people to click a mouse from home, they will use it.

Idk...just from judging all the wrong and crazy information I hear from people walking around the parks....I still don't see it.

I haven't really considered that I will like it less over time. Right now...I like it as it is (tiers and all...it's fine for me). I think I will like it better in the future and Disney makes adjustments. I think once it is finalized that it will be a much smoother system and work for more people. Even if everyone has pre-booking access at the same time...I still think it's going to work out just fine.

Now...I could be completely wrong in all my predictions...but it's how I feel now about the future. Maybe I'm just the eternal Disney optimist...but I don't see the point in worrying about the future of FP at Disney. It will be what it will be and whatever it is...I will make it work for me.

I agree. Getting a paper ticket was way easier than navigating my disney experience and they were still clueless. It would be like taking green eggs and ham away from someone who can't read and handing them a copy of war and peace. Lol

It's a waste to them which is really all they said.

I don't disagree that FP- was way easier to figure out on your own. It was.

The difference is, the powers that be really really REALLY want you to read War and Peace, and people weren't reading Green Eggs and Ham as much as they wanted them to even though it a lot simpler. Now, they're putting way more resources into getting more people to read War and Peace than they ever were Green Eggs and Ham, so even though it's more complicated there's still more people reading.

We went and enjoyed the FP+ system and rode more then 6 rides all in one day.
At MK we did Small world, peterpan (FP+), ariel grotto and ariel M&g, pooh, enchated tales with belle (fp+), carousel, haunted mansion, country bear jam, BTMRR (FP+), people mover, space ranger spin, carousel of progress, monster inc laugh floor, princess m&G, mickey m&g, dumbo, barnstormer, MK railroad, jungle cruise, carpets of alladdin, and Pirates of the carribean. And I rode Space mountain while DS napped in the stroller and DH hungout with him. So in that's, what 24? Doesn't seem like a failure to me

Now granted we went in jaunary, but the crowds were still at an 8. IT was still pretty busy. We just came up with a good plan and worked the crowds. Its doable and not a failure.

If one is talking about going over spring break or Christmas well then that is different, but I still don't see my above list as a failure.

That's awesome and def not a waste in my book. Heck the day.after thanksgiving I was able to get 11 rides in under 3 hrs with numerous potty breaks and stopping for pictures. But this was before all resorts were FP+ only and FP- was still available (not for me tho b/c I was at Pop which was MB only). When were you there I'm Jan? Before or after MK was FP+ only? I am not trying to discount your experience b/c obviously it happened but it's helpful to know the other variables as well.

We went over mlk weekend on Saturday . MK was all fp+. We got their early almost rope drop but not quite. Walked straight through to fl. Stood in line at the fp line for about 10 minutes - got our fp set up. Went to liberty square did hm (walked right on) went to adventure land and frontier land( they were practically empty that early in am) did everything we wanted. No more then a 15 minute wait got anything. Did our btmrr fp. Came back to fl - did Peter Pan (fp) and belle (fp) and small world.
Had lunch at pinnocios village hauss. Then it was nap time for our son- I did space mountain. After he woke up we went back to fl and did everything else there we wanted. Longest we waited was for little mermaid -40 minutes. Them we went to tomorrowland and spent the evening there. The last thing we did was Mickey m&g on the way out the door.

People didn't understand regular Fast pass...you really think that many off site people will figure it out?

Disney sends you emails now to make sure you sign up for everything -- MDE, MM, ADRs and FP+. There wasn't much pre-visit about FP-, except for what was shown in the Disney planning DVD.

So I think a lot more people will book in advance now. Besides, I think offsite people are just as smart as onsite people. :scratchin
