I disagree completely. FP+ rewards only the planners. There is no upside at all to those who do not plan their ride schedule in advance.
We are going in October and I'm scared to death this is going to roll out about the time we arrive. I can plan ADRs, I can go to one (recommended) park per day and make RD and pull FPs for attractions with traditionally longer (longer would be 30 plus minutes in my book)lines, HOWEVER, I can't see myself getting online 2 months in advance to book my little mouseketeers a seat on DUMBO at 12:46 on Tuesday afternoon. Is anyone else as lost and confused as me with this whole FP plus thing. I just don't get how it will make things better. To me it makes things confusing and is taking the fun out of going to WDW. Maybe I am missing something.. Sometimes its hard enough to get to an evening ADR, I can't imagine trying to figure out 60days out what time I want to ride a specific ride. We may go this Sept. and I really hope this is NOT up and running yet.
Once it is rolled out to the masses, it will be a nightmare to plan any trip.
I wrote Disney an email and several things came up for me as I wrote it...
When we go to Disney - I plan the park based on the best days calendar and we pick a restaurant out 6 months in advance....
But in the parks - I give me kids control of what we do. We go enough that they understand general flow. But if they want to ride and the line is too long - we just FP and go back later...but now my kids won't be able to pick what we do because we will have to tour so we are in the right place when our pre-planned FP+ time comes up. Disney is so fun because they really take control of the day and it makes them so happy!
Another issue is that my cell phone service stinks in the park...and my phone is constantly looking for service...it makes it about half way through the day - so now I will be stuck with those kiosks...
And my hubby HATES preplanning the meals as it is now...and inevitably on every trip he says why didn't we eat there and I tell him "Remember I asked you about this..." and he replies "How was I supposed to know 6 months ago I wanted to eat here now?" So now I will have to start asking him what time he wants to get up each morning and what rides to ride? He will not be doing that and then we will have the same conversation about rides that I now have about Dining??!?! So while he is working hard so we can afford Disney - he is supposed to stress about his vacation plans too?
Sorry Disney - but if planning the vacation becomes too much work and not planning results in a miserable park experience...we're going to Universal!
Your post just made me think of another issue...Gee, thanks Dis!
You've TOTALLY blown up my inbox! I just spent about two hours reading through this thread, and am almost as cornfused as I was when I started! ...correction...MORE cornfused!
There are so many unknown aspects to this, that I'm gonna withhold most of my judgement for now. Suffice though, WDW has certainly made me rethink some things about 2014-and maybe beyond. But December 2013 is looming, and I've got 10 days of ADRs to start making VERY soon...counting down the hours! IF Iger, Inc. do indeed start full mouse implementation of this by then, I'm gonna have some very interesting "conversations" with some of the family, not to mention conversations with myself!
One big challenge, I have an AP exchange certificate that I am planning on activating when we arrive, but IF FP+ goes live, will I have any way of making those ADRs...errrr...AFPs?...(taking advantage of the AP perks..that may...or may not be in existence)..

I wonder if at this point they feel they are at the point of no return and really want to utilize the new fancy RFID wristbands. But they could still do that with the current system. Just make the FP return work with the swipe of your wristband and you get the FP...same old system as before...but with their fancy technology.I believe it was the great statesman, Abraham Lincoln, who once spake,
"Leave the FastPass system, the heck, ALONE!"

My thoughts seem to be against the majority in this group but I'm happy to see how this rolls and then formalize opinions after that. We enjoy FP's but they don't command our touring. We travel in late August and rarely are the standby lines so long that we choose not to use them.
Our meals are planned out and I choose our parks well in advance too (just the way we roll) so I'm excited to give this a try. I like the fact that we don't have to hit the parks at rope drop each day to secure FP's for attractions we want to go to.
Excited to give it a try and then decide what I think about it. Bring it on!
Waiting in line takes away the vacation feel for me more than anything.Seems to take away the "vacation" feel.
