FP+ Details Are Out!

I disagree completely. FP+ rewards only the planners. There is no upside at all to those who do not plan their ride schedule in advance.

I agree. It may take away the fast pass "abusers" if you are maxed at 3 but the average joe won't have a clue to preplan park and ride times months in advance. If there is a max FP+ tix a day, there is a chance you won't get a FP for TSM or TT at all, even if you show up early. That is just awful.

And if they do plan on rolling this out in Jan when crowds are low, they may have a month or two of okay reviews but I doubt this will work once Spring Break rolls along. I just can not imagine :(

Is anyone else as lost and confused as me with this whole FP plus thing. I just don't get how it will make things better. To me it makes things confusing and is taking the fun out of going to WDW. Maybe I am missing something. :confused3. Sometimes its hard enough to get to an evening ADR, I can't imagine trying to figure out 60days out what time I want to ride a specific ride. We may go this Sept. and I really hope this is NOT up and running yet.
We are going in October and I'm scared to death this is going to roll out about the time we arrive. I can plan ADRs, I can go to one (recommended) park per day and make RD and pull FPs for attractions with traditionally longer (longer would be 30 plus minutes in my book)lines, HOWEVER, I can't see myself getting online 2 months in advance to book my little mouseketeers a seat on DUMBO at 12:46 on Tuesday afternoon.:headache: Ain't gonna happen! I did not pay several thousand dollars to browse around gift shops because all the FPs are gone for Tuesday for Dumbo. I just don't really understand how this is supposed to make a majority of vacationers happy.

Once it is rolled out to the masses, it will be a nightmare to plan any trip.

Nightmare is right! What about the poor suckers who don't do much online, who are not internet and tech savvy, who aren't GLUED to their electronic devices 24/7? They're going to be driven away and forced to take their vacation dollars elsewhere, that's what.

I was disappointed that we wouldn't be spending spring break at the World, but now I'm relieved. We normally experience at least 20 attractions per day during spring break. Any less and I would feel like I had wasted my time and money. I doubt that will be possible with this new system.

I just wonder how many attractions could have been built with the money spent on FP+? I predict the real winner with FP+ will be Universal. People want new attractions, not wristbands.

I wrote Disney an email and several things came up for me as I wrote it...

When we go to Disney - I plan the park based on the best days calendar and we pick a restaurant out 6 months in advance....

But in the parks - I give me kids control of what we do. We go enough that they understand general flow. But if they want to ride and the line is too long - we just FP and go back later...but now my kids won't be able to pick what we do because we will have to tour so we are in the right place when our pre-planned FP+ time comes up. Disney is so fun because they really take control of the day and it makes them so happy!

Another issue is that my cell phone service stinks in the park...and my phone is constantly looking for service...it makes it about half way through the day - so now I will be stuck with those kiosks...

And my hubby HATES preplanning the meals as it is now...and inevitably on every trip he says why didn't we eat there and I tell him "Remember I asked you about this..." and he replies "How was I supposed to know 6 months ago I wanted to eat here now?" So now I will have to start asking him what time he wants to get up each morning and what rides to ride? He will not be doing that and then we will have the same conversation about rides that I now have about Dining??!?! So while he is working hard so we can afford Disney - he is supposed to stress about his vacation plans too?

Sorry Disney - but if planning the vacation becomes too much work and not planning results in a miserable park experience...we're going to Universal!

I so agree with your letter. I may also write one. For us we will just keep our money and get more fun stuff for our house and yard.

My upcoming trip has been planned out and researched 100x more than my three other "adult" trips put together because this time we will have three young kids with us. I'm hoping that this system is not rolled out in it's entirety by Sept.
Pretty sure this is the first and last trip to Disney for my kids if the system rolls out the way it's being explained.
It's one thing to plan meals in advance, but I have no idea what ride I'm going to want to ride two months out and at what time.

Gee, thanks Dis!
You've TOTALLY blown up my inbox! I just spent about two hours reading through this thread, and am almost as cornfused as I was when I started! ...correction...MORE cornfused! :crazy2:
There are so many unknown aspects to this, that I'm gonna withhold most of my judgement for now. Suffice though, WDW has certainly made me rethink some things about 2014-and maybe beyond. But December 2013 is looming, and I've got 10 days of ADRs to start making VERY soon...counting down the hours! IF Iger, Inc. do indeed start full mouse implementation of this by then, I'm gonna have some very interesting "conversations" with some of the family, not to mention conversations with myself! :crazy2:
One big challenge, I have an AP exchange certificate that I am planning on activating when we arrive, but IF FP+ goes live, will I have any way of making those ADRs...errrr...AFPs?...(taking advantage of the AP perks..that may...or may not be in existence)..
My Frain is Bried. :worried:

My thoughts seem to be against the majority in this group but I'm happy to see how this rolls and then formalize opinions after that. We enjoy FP's but they don't command our touring. We travel in late August and rarely are the standby lines so long that we choose not to use them.

Our meals are planned out and I choose our parks well in advance too (just the way we roll) so I'm excited to give this a try. I like the fact that we don't have to hit the parks at rope drop each day to secure FP's for attractions we want to go to.

Excited to give it a try and then decide what I think about it. Bring it on!

Your post just made me think of another issue...

at 180 days out I plan my dining. I am there 4 days and can only get BoG reservations on Day 2. So of course I take it. Then it is time for rides at 60 days out...and I can only get TSM on Day 2.

So now I am either in 200 bucks for park hoppers for my family of 4, take my chance at RD on our day we have planned at the Studios except I booked my kids on a pirate cruise that morning so we will have to cancel that because there aren't any other ones they can go on...or tell my daughter that she can't go to BoG so her brother can ride TSM or tell my son he can't ride so his sister can eat at BoG!

Seriously, its like Universal sent in a group of employees to run Disney's development on this....

I believe it was the great statesman, Abraham Lincoln, who once spake,

"Leave the FastPass system, the heck, ALONE!"

I wonder if at this point they feel they are at the point of no return and really want to utilize the new fancy RFID wristbands. But they could still do that with the current system. Just make the FP return work with the swipe of your wristband and you get the FP...same old system as before...but with their fancy technology.

Oh, if only...

Since my only choice is summer or Christmas FPs are really important. I do hope that since it looks like they are planning on going ahead with it that it is a positive experience for you.

I'm booked to go in May, this will be my first staying on-site experience. I'm from the UK and previous trips we have always done one park on one day and have always done seaworld, universal etc. This time were going for 7 days and just doing Disney. I'm dreading this trip now, we were really looking forward to being able to hop around and be a bit more flexible with when and where we go. I'm not looking forward to being dictated by fastpass.
Using my phone in the park isn't really an option either due to high roaming costs, and it sounds like the wi-fi might be a bit dodgey.

I'm with you! Join the ranks of those who AREN'T scared to death of a FP+ system still in testing phases! :)

Ugh. I'm taking my first trip to WDW in 20 years in Jan 2014 with my kids, DH and parents. Hard enough to plan this without throwing such a huge unknown into the mix.

Can they please delay the roll-out of this for later in 2014 and hurry up on Mine Train. :scratchin
