FP+ Details Are Out!

DH just had what I thought was a funny line... only one thing to do if someone feels FP+ will truly be a disaster (and I know - that is NOT what everyone here is saying :)): SHORT DISNEY STOCK.

LOL!! At least I LOL'd. :)

Definitely not time for that. :)

Another thing I thought about---

With the current system lets say we have 2 Adults and 2 Kids, I will get 4 Fp for RNRC and the 2 adults can ride 2x each, switching off to stay with the kids. With the new system this wouldn't be possible would it? Or would I just need to swap Magic bands with the kids for the adult to use the kids FP??? Surely I am not the only person who does this?

No. We did this for a lot of rides, especially with kids who would change their minds about rides at the last minute. FP+ also means we can no longer hand out fastpasses that we aren't using to people heading for the standby line, one of my favorite things to do. :(

Not that I was always generous. I still feel guilty about fastpassing Soarin for the third time on our first trip after it opened, when people were playing cards in the 180 minute stand-by line. I guess that's the kind of overuse FP+ will stamp out?

Last time I was there they were doing testing (December 2012), I saw first hand a family using their RFID cards on the mickey monitor for LM. They had a cm with a tablet, when each guest swiped their card over the monitor, the cm looked at her tablet and said the guests name. So I'm guessing if you're a male and use your daughters card/band, the cm might not allow it. Their was discussion aswell that when you swipe your band/RFID card, it could show the age of the guest. So again, if you're a 45 yr old male using your 4 yr old child's band/RFID card, you may not be able to use it. The cm could refuse you to ride it FP or just turn a blind eye, may depend on the cm.
Until the final product comes out and someone tries that method, we may not know how it will be handled

Fastpass is all about efficiency. While they could check IDs during a limited test, I don't believe for a minute they could do that when it rolls out for the masses. We'll be sharing bands where it suits our needs.

Just think about how those FP entrances back up now when one person stops the attendant with a question. They are going to be focused on whether the light turns green for the person going in. And I really think that's it.

Won't the band like rfid tickets also use the fingerprint reader? But this will only be at entry to the parks, right?

We do the same thing with Soarin. But we don't with Test Track. It's an exchange. Other people may be just the opposite of us. That doesn't mean it's "overuse". Just utilized to what each family prefers. Ride and re-ride what you want :)

There's no way they will check if the band is truly yours, not with the setup I've seen for the FP+, which is ONE mickey head per line. Let's say they have 1000 FPs an hour. That gives 3.6 seconds per FP. No way they check the sex and age of each user. Especially since I'm sure plenty of parents will carry their kids braclets so they don't lose them, and there will be a LOT of gray bracelets. Iconic Gray!

Hmmm... I think DH may have a hard time passing off DD's princessified band as his... Might be fun to watch him try... ;)

I can't see going with the gray... I guess we'll have to see...

Unless they are going to have literally hundreds of kiosks in each park, to say those are a legitimate option for us to use is positively daffy.

6 FP machines, where you do nothing but insert a card, can get a short line. Imagine if you have to make all sorts of decisions at that kiosk instead. See what's available, ask your kids what they want. Then thinking about if you have an ADR, when you'll be hungry, when the fireworks are, etc.

The average kiosk time per user will go from 10 seconds to many minutes. Many particularly slow people could spend ten minutes at a kiosk. Plus there are only about a forth the kiosk stations as there are kiosks stations. Literally, if these kiosk stations don't have at least a hundred each, it's going to be chaos. Has anyone seen these being built yet?

Jason

Something we definitely agree on...

I guarantee you...whereas I can walk up to a FP kiosk now as a "decision maker" and grab 4 FPs with my family's four tickets in about 10 seconds, most of which is waiting for it to spit it out, it will on average take me - a techie in every sense of the word - a lot longer, even if I know exactly what I want, regardless of it being "easy" to book it for all of my family at once.

Supposedly (and I haven't seen this confirmed during the tests) the CMs will have a screen (either fixed or via iPad) that may present information on the MagicBand being scanned - mainly to deal with problems.

Whether they CARE or not is a different issue. We don't know how (or if) the CMs are being trained in that regard.

I'm sure there will be men there with princessified bracelets that ARE theirs.

"Not that there's anything wrong with that"

We do this too (even though I was ridiculed on here for it.) I don't ride much and my husband loves to ride, so we'd use his ticket to FP RNRC and use my ticket to FP TOT and then he could ride both without me sitting and waiting for him for 3 hours! We also loved to hand out unused FPs that we weren't going to use. Guess that's one of the things we can say will definitely not be an option now.

any discussion if a guests height is information would be stored data that the RFID could access? this could potentially eliminate the inconsistent CM readings at attractions.

I'm sure people won't all be scheduling or changing one FP+ reservation either. I'll be behind the family that is trying to re-do their entire vacation at the kiosk that day. :)

No discussion. I think on the face of it that would be too hard to track. Only the measuring sticks matter anyway.

It looks like the information "stored" in the database and accessed by the Magic Band is what you can enter into the MDE (MDX?) website or App. I don't think height information is an option.

I was thinking along the lines of having the option to go to guest relations and have them measure against the measuring sticks and input the info so it's "official" and good for the number of days valid on ticket.

or resort guests could have this done at the front desk.

this could potentially cut down on the scenarios where a person is tall enough at the entrance of the attraction but not at the boarding. or from attraction to attraction. would be less frustrating for guests and children if there were no discrepancies that currently exist on occasion.

Parents could just easily swap the bracelets of their kids, and ride one-at-a-time.

(This is what happened when they tried it doing this with conventional wristbands.)
