With all of the "discussion" on the Boards lately, I just wanted to assure everyone that there is plenty of "magic" left at WDW. We've been here since just 8pm at the GF last night and we've experienced quite a bit of extra pixie dust. Beyond telling you about that, I also have some strategies, tips, etc... that I'll be gathering and including in these live updates. We'll be here through Wednesday and I'm hoping to update this thread every morning.

Yesterday, we hit some unexpected traffic on the Turnpike and had some problems with one MagicBand at check-in. I cannot emphasize enough that if you make a change to your reservation, check to make sure all your MBs are still active, as the CM who changed it seemed to deactivate one for some odd reason or another. Because the concierge is the one who has the technical capability to really re-activate a band, we had to go there.

In the midst of all this, I inquired if there were any rooms with a view of the castle available. Well, (I think partially because we soon discovered that my kids' math teacher was his and we had an extensive discussion about that), he upgraded us from a Garden View to what I guess is an extremely nice Lagoon View that looks right out at the Castle. For those who know the resort, we're on the east side on Boca Chica on the first floor. As I'm typing this on the balcony, I can hear the MK welcome show, the train whistle, and see the monorail passing by. Awesome! As I always recommend, it never hurts to ask!

So anyways we were really behind for our 7:45pm Narcoossee's reservation. It was like 9:30, but we figured we'd give it a try, and they let us in with no attitude or worries at all. They were so accommodating for us, it was incredible. Had a chance to watch Wishes and have an awesome meal!

Everyone headed back to the room except me, as I wanted to take care of claiming the AP renewals and tickets, so I thought that since MK closes in under an hour, there probably wouldn't be much of a line; I was wrong. Waited half an hour, but ended up taking care of everything and even had enough time to pop into park and use my 7DMT FP+.

That ride, while it's hard to say if it's an E-ticket or not so early on, is certainly unique. Although I don't think it's the roller coaster certain Disney "bloggers" are leading people to believe, it's quant and fun but is extremely popular. At this point last night, most if not all rides were walk-on (it was almost 12am), yet this had a 60 minute posted wait and I'd venture to say in reality it was longer! None the less, great new addition and very fun to ride at night. Looking forward to riding it during the day on Sunday!

So what did we learn from day 1? ALWAYS check the status of each MB before you leave, only see the concierge for MB-related problems, never give up on a late ADR (particularly at such an expensive restaurant!), the line at the MK ticket desk is always long no matter what time of day/night, and give 7DMT a try!

We're off to Epcot today, but everyone else is sleeping in for another couple minutes or so! If you're here now as well or have any tips or problems with what I said, feel free to discuss and share opinions. I don't want this to necessarily all be about my trip, but using my experience to better others. Thanks!

So wonderful to hear some positivity :thumbsup2 Congrats on your upgrade, and looking forward to reading along as you enjoy your trip!! :goodvibes

Thank you, thank you for this uplifting report. Honestly, I was about to come here and vent about the headaches and hair pulling I'm dealing with right now trying to plan a trip and dining and FP+ for a party of 7 (coordinating my sister, the grandparents and my kids is leading me to crave alcoholic beverages by the gallon).

Added to our stress is the fact that, for the first time in my adult life, we're not staying at the park. Instead, we're renting a Starwood Villa nearby. It is nothing short of a nightmare trying to get dining reservations for the few places we want to go because I don't have the +10 planning Disney offers for on-site guests. And my mom's account won't stay linked to the rest of ours and...and...and... I really needed to hear that the FP+ system is do-able and that many cast members are still full of Pixie Dust. That's the lovely thing about Disney - the planning can drive you nuts but once there, it's really magical. Thanks for the reminder. :goodvibes

I love your positive thoughts! Thank you! We check into OKW in 15 days, can't wait! Keep the pixie dust coming!!

Sitting here in front of SDMT right now...it is down again. We tried to ride last night around 7--it was down. Down again this morning. I guess it's to be expected with new rides. This is a last minute trip for us so no FP available for SDMT anyway...we will try again tonight I guess.

7 DMT still down. I sure hope it opens back up today because it's the only reason I'm at MK today. I booked this FP the day it opened up for fp availability. We missed it due to the closure so now we have an "anytime" FP but I really don't want to use it for something else. :(

If 7DMT stays down from your FP time til closing, do they honor it next day? They did that for Radiator Racers but park hopping is a lot easier at DLR.

Thanks for the positive update! The tip about MagicBands is valuable since we're debating adding another day onto our bands if we arrive in Orlando on time our first day. Hope EPCOT is being just as magical for your crew!

Have a magical time!pixiedust: Love to read reviews as we will be there in 22 days!:cool1:

Glad you are having a great time! We'll be down in less than a week!

No, they just honor it until the park closing same day.

We had all sorts of bad luck today, but we DID end up riding 7DMT. Like I said, we were only there because we had the 7DMT FP+, so we were just planning on using our FPs and leaving. The others we had were Splash and BTMRR.

7DMT - closed during FP window, but we did return later and ride
Splash - open, but we came to a stand still countless times during the ride. nothing unusual seemed to be happening at the load/unload area, so i have no idea what was going on but it was kind of frustrating.
BTMRR - closed during FP window, we used it for Buzz instead and then went home

Glad you got on. We had a similar experience yesterday as weather closed it as our FP window neared. After about 15 minutes I was getting nervous (had heard I would get another FP and assumed it would be for something else as others have reported), but a CM assured me we'd be able to ride 7DMT anytime until park close. (We were also there largely to ride 7DMT and we were leaving last night.) They opened it back up a few minutes later making the whole thing moot.
