Don't get to tired :(. I am loving:love: your Foodie report. You are living my dream :worship:, So glad you are sharing yours with all of us:wizard:.

that carrot cake cookie looks amazing - never seen one before and now have a definite taste for it. Is it a cream cheese frosting in the centre?
Adore the cheese danish - thats my kind of breakfast food ;)

Lottawatta LodgeMini Donuts
Before I left the park, I had to stop at the famous Mini Donut stand. I ordered a half dozen cinnamon sugar with white chocolate dipping sauce.
DSCN1189.JPG

These were oh so good. Warm and fresh, and they really were fine on their own without the dipping sauce.

Huh:scared1: How did I miss out on hearing about these mini donuts???? Do they have them anywhere else on property aside from the ones that I've seen at Via Napoli and is it Kouzina? They look like maybe it's a regular Disney stand item?

The carrot cake cookie is also on my list popcorn::

It is cream cheese frosting-so good!

As far as I know, they are only sold at the water parks. The ones at Kouzzina and Via Napoli are different.

I looked for you when I went to Epcot on Saturday 1/21 but didn't think I saw you. I came in the front entrance around 4ish. Were you working?

I'm sorry your TS visits have been so mediocre! I hope they get better soon, I had some great TS meals last weekend at Cali Grill, Yak n Yeti, and Rose and Crown!

You just missed me-I left at 3:45. :sad2: We are also going to be trying Rose & Crown and Yak & Yeti in a less than two weeks when Mom comes to visit, so I hope those are good!

Pecos Bill Dinner
So two nights after I swore I'd never eat there again, this is where we ended up. My roommate and I wanted Columbia Harbour House but they had closed at 5 and we'd already passed Pinocchio's. This was just as bad as the last time. Two registers open despite huge crowds, 15 minutes to order, confused CMs distributing food, most seating areas roped off, the table we managed to find had ketchup smeared on it, the BBQ pork sandwich was just okay (preferred the one at Flame Tree) and the fries were warm but limp and bland. No pictures because it didn't deserve them.

Writer's Stop Snack
Last night I stopped by Writer's Stop for a quick snack and chose a strawberry muffin.
DSCN1238.JPG

It was sweet and delicious. This has become my new favorite snack place.

50s Prime Time Cafe Dinner
Friday night all six of us had the night off and we had a reservation for 6:50pm. I checked in and eventually everyone arrived. It took us until about 7 to be seated, and we were put in the very back corner room. We had cousin Robb as our server and cousin Patty in our section as well; they were awesome, just the type of servers you want at this restaurant. In the room as well was an 11 year old celebrating a birthday (the whole room sang happy birthday to her and signed a card), a group of girls who had done the CP five years ago and were there for a reunion (we're pretty sure that will be us in five years) and a family with a grandfather who wouldn't smile so Cousin Patty named him Grumpy. And of course, every time someone did something "wrong" the whole room would shake a finger or two at them and go "shame, shame, shame!"

I ordered the PB&J shake and a water.
DSCN1240.JPG

This was great! Definitely worth the hype. It was more peanut buttery, with a slight jelly after taste. Four our entrees, Courtney and I got the meatloaf (she subbed corn for the green beans); Jessica, Marissa, and Christina got the pot roast (Marissa asked for no gravy and corn instead of the other veggies) and Casey chose the sampler, consisting of meatloaf, pot roast, and fried chicken. It took a while for our food to come out, but we enjoyed some shenanigans in the mean time.

I had heard some commotion elsewhere in the room and heard Cousin Patty say, "Didn't I tell you to stir and then pour?" I had no idea what that was about...until I poured what was in the metal cup into the glass cup and a large clump of solid shake poured out onto the table. Whoops. Thankfully Cousin Robb brought me some napkins and a damp cloth to clean it up. Jessica was feeling particularly sassy, so Robb had a lot of fun with her.

When our food arrived, I took a picture of my plate and Jessica's plate.

We all enjoyed our meals and it seemed that the pot roast was the winner of the evening. I finished my potatoes but thought the gravy was weird, and brought half of the meatloaf and green beans home in a container. Casey does not like vegetables and had subbed corn for the green beans, but nothing for the southern greens. Cousin Robb made her eat some of them and then Jess and Casey hid the rest in a napkin.

For dessert, Courtney ordered the s'mores, Casey had the Boston Cream Parfait, Christina and Marissa chose hot fudge sundaes, I had a strawberry sundae, and Jess was happy to discover that they had a gluten free brownie. Here are the smores, my sundae, and the parfait.

We also had Cousin Robb take a picture of us and then took some pictures of each other.

We were surprised to see that our 20% discount was approved, since our reservation was during a time when it's not in effect (6:30-8pm). But since our meal finished so late, we think that is why it was okay. Because we have a discount, there's an automatic 18% gratuity added, which was fine, as Cousin Robb was fantastic and deserved every bit of it. We even took a picture with him on the way out.

Since the park had closed an hour and a half previously, there was NO ONE on Hollywood Boulevard except for a lone cast member who kindly took our picture in front of the hat.

Aw sorry we missed each other! Maybe we'll have another chance to meet. I don't have any plans as of right now, but I'm hoping to make it back again before my pass expires in June.

I LOVE Yak n Yeti - I've always had great food and service there, so I hope it's the same for you.

I tried Rose and Crown for the first time and it was good. Not fantastic, but I enjoyed it. The view of Illuminations certainly helps!

50's PT looks good. I've only eaten there once but I have cravings for their milkshakes and fried chicken now! :rotfl:

If you make it back before May I'll definitely still be here, but I might still be here in June. I'm thinking about extending my program, but I've also applied for a couple of professional internships as well.

Enjoying reading all your food reviews! :thumbsup2

I remember reading your PTR several years ago, when we were planning a trip around the same time (May, 2010). Now you're working there?!? That's great!

My daughter is headed to college in the fall, and she's interested in Disney's college program. :)

Today I spent some time at Animal Kingdom and Hollywood Studios. I was at AK for lunch and was pondering eating locations, finally deciding on the Yak & Yeti CS location. This was around 12:30, and the lines were long-ish considering that 3 registers were open. Eventually I made it to the front, where I was immediately asked if I would be using the dining plan. No, but is there a CM discount? No, there isn't. Of course not, because every other CS location in the park has one. :confused3

Anyway, I ordered the Honey Chicken and a Banana Pudding. I recall mango pie being on the menu several years ago at both the CS and the TS locations, but the mango pie was gone. When my order was ready, I went around the back of the building and grabbed a table that two people were just vacating. It was directly in the sun, but next to this lovely fountain.
DSCN1323.JPG

The honey chicken was described as having broccoli, carrots, honey sauce, and rice, but I found no evidence of carrots.
DSCN1321.JPG

It was really a very good dish. I ate all the broccoli and all but one piece of chicken, however, there was way too much rice for me to even contemplating finishing it-it was a hot day and this was kind of a heavy dish.

So I moved on to the banana pudding. Oh my God it was amazing. :worship:It had a Vanilla Wafer on top, and a crumbled crust underneath. The pudding was delicious and there were two chunks of real banana in it as well. So good. I'd go back again just for that.
DSCN1322.JPG

Overall, I do recommend this place, and I'm excited to try the TS next week!

Great updates :)
Looks like you have a great evening in 50sPT
Very cool to have the park to yourselves when you left!

I LOVE Yak and Yeti! The counter service has replaced Flame Tree BBQ as my favorite in AK, and the table service is just as good! I am sad the mango pie is gone from the counter service side though, but the banana pudding seems like a good replacement.

Sometimes the table service can get mixed reviews, but I've only had fabulous experiences there. My favorite dish is the crispy Mahi Mahi. I believe the honey chicken on the table service menu is pretty much the same as the counter service version. For dessert, try the cream cheese wontons or you can still get mango pie (I think?) in the restaurant. Looking forward to hearing how you and your mom do next week!

Hi Gretchen,
Sounds like you're having a great time :goodvibes

That looks like the perfect sized snack for my DS and he'd love it popcorn::

Hey, Gretchen, I love your review!

I go to UT (Tennessee, not Texas or Toledo) and I know some people who've done the DCP and love it! I wish I could, but it'd probably delay my graduation or force me to drop my double-major or something, such a bummer.

I read a couple of your blog posts, and though this isn't related to food, I've heard reports (through some podcasts and Touring Plans) that FP times have began to be selected enforced. That makes me kinda unhappy, I loooove being able to get a FP then riding much later in the day, haha. I hope it's temporary and doesn't become a new policy!

Thanks for reading! 50s was a lot of fun! I've never been among the last in the park (usually I'm among the first) so it was pretty cool.

Both Flame Tree and Y&Y were good, but I think I prefer the food at FTB and the dessert at Y&Y. I'm not sure what we'll be getting for an entree at the TS because everything looks good, but I'm fairly sure we'll be getting both of those desserts!

What a fun (and yummy!!!) adventure. I'm really enjoying your report.:goodvibes

Thanks for reading!

Definitely try it if you get the chance!

The only reason I'm doing it is because I switched to the less intense track in my major and still needed twelve credits-and I'm still graduating a year early. On the more intense track, I would have graduated only half a year early, but with more than enough credits.

I haven't heard anything about the FP windows being enforced, but I too will be upset if it's true.

Today Jessica and I went to Epcot for a couple of hours. We went to lunch at Sunshine Seasons. It was easy to find a seat despite the fact that it was 1pm-Epcot was dead today. Soarin' had a wait of 35 minutes at the time we went to lunch.

I went with my standard Turkey and Monterey Jack Focaccia. I was pleased that they finally offered a side other than the potato salad-kettle cooked potato chips. They were awesome! I wanted more!
DSCN1360.JPG

For dessert I chose a Carrot Cupcake.
DSCN1361.JPG

It was perfection. The cupcake was flavorful and most, and the frosting was creamy and not too sweet.

We also got a snack at Karamell Kuche. There was a treat that looked delicious but too big, so I'm going to get it this weekend with Mom. So instead I got a Chewy Caramel Bar. It wasn't as good as I remembered, but still pretty good.
