Does anyone have any tips or advice for seeing the Lion King show?

I've read it's very popular, so it's best to go to the first show in the morning or one of the last two shows in the afternoon. Also, we should get in line about 30-45 minutes before showtime.

I guess the theatre has just re-opened after being covered. Is it pretty nice in there now? Is it still very hot and uncomfortable waiting in line? For a late October visit, will the (hopefully) smaller crowds make it unnecessary to avoid the mid-day performances and get in line early? Are FastPasses available?

Thanks for any suggestions you may have! :)

FastPass is not offered for FOLK. There are fans in the queue area, but the temperatures in October should be mild and really quite nice. The mid-day shows generally fill up faster than the first or last shows, but I would definitely check with the tip board or the Camp Minnie-Mickey greeter (usually near the sign by Pizzafari announcing the next show) when you visit because they will know best.

Just back and caught the first show yesterday. I have never seen the show, but it was great and COOL inside. We went early, but there was basically no line since signs ouside the park were still saying it was closed. I would go to the first show at 10:00 to make sure you get to see it. It was a wonderful show!

I have never had a bad view of the show. I doubt there is a bad seat

We always like to sit at the end of the row. When you enter the theatre head to the furthest section to the right (this is the Lion section) sit on the end by the curtain, this way you can see the performers close up as they enter the theatre.

yep...the rehab was to enclose and provide air conditioning for the theater...and i also agree that there is not a bad seat in the place...
regarding when to get there...several times when we have entered animal kingdom at opening, cm's at the gate provide an "admission" ticket for the show guaranteeing you a seat for the first showing...that way you are albe to get into the park and ride a couple of the attractions before heading over to the show...i don't know if they offer these tickets all the time but they have been provided to us at least 3 times now...
the show is one of the best live shows in the "world"...if you have to wait, do it...it's worth the wait....
have fun!!!

I was at AK Oct. 6, 2002. It was a very warm day. We skipped the parade at the end of the day and got in line for the FOTLK instead. We were first in line. It began to rain, and we entered just as the downpour came, and saved ourselves from getting wet because it was tented.

CMs kept trying to route people to move to the end of the aisles, and we eventually moved to a different section so we could be in the middle. When the show was over, the part was closed and we avoided the traffic to our vehicle.

Don't know much about the rehab. Will see in February upon our return.

HTH!

Actually, the first show is at 9:45. It wasn't supposed to open until 2:00 yesterday but they decided to open it early.

Samirella, I have a question for you (I LOVE that picture in your sig.!). The Lion King show is probably my top three attractions that we HAVE to see each trip. I am wondering though...if you know anyone in the cast and it sounds like you do (or are you part of the cast?), do they ever tire of doing the exact same show 4 or 5 times a day or do they love it every time they do it? I tell you, the energy and passion that comes from every performance blows me away. Sometimes, I wish I could sit there all day long and see every show! Not possible though. Its a fantastic show that I pray never ends like Hunchback did. Thanks and please tell that cast how much we LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this show!!!!!!!!!!!

You have to realize that through your eyes it's a fantastic, magical show, through the eyes of the performers it is their job. Just like any job, there are ups and downs as well as good days and bad. I think the performers who love it out number those who don't but its still work. :bounce:

Thank you all for your thoughtful replies.

I appreciate the idea of checking with the tip board and the CM greeter. It's not so much as I want us to get the "best" seats or avoid the "bad" seats, as it is I don't want to wait in line and then not get in and have to wait in line some more for the next show. If this never happens, great! We'll just wander by about 5 minutes early (at 9:40am) and go in and sit down. But if it does happen sometimes, how could I know in advance that we should have gone and seen something else instead of wasting time in line? Why do people line up early?

Maybe I've not posed my question clearly enough. Sorry! Has anyone ever waited in line for a performance and then had to wait some more for the next show? What was your plan to prevent that happening to you? How could I avoid that by being smart and posting here on the DIS boards? Thanks again for any and all input! :)

Hopefully the CM's will be handing out guaranteed "admission" tickets. That'd be good! :)

Let me try to explain it to you. On our last trip, it was a very busy week, the week before Easter and the Northeast's April vacation. When we arrived at the show, the line was a mile long, but we still wanted to see it. So we waited. Then the CM said that from our party on, it was standing room only. THIS is why you need to get in line early. You don't want to stand for this show. We had seen it twice before, and let me tell you I can't describe how much we love it, it brings tears to your eyes it is that moving. When we had to stand for it, the feeling was gone, not enjoyable at all and didn't feel at all part of the audience. It is one of those things that waiting for this show is SO WORTH IT. So please wait, you won't regret it. Enjoy and hakuna matata!! Can't wait to see this show in January. :D
