Hey folks,
a while back I remember some hot threads about Universal changing their FOTL practices for peak periods. Something about it being once per ride until 3pm? I haven't seen much about that recently, but then again, I haven't frequented the Disboards as much lately either. Could someone please tell me what the scoop seems to be now?

We want to spend a couple of days at Universal in July, which I'm guessing qualifies as a peak period. In your opinion, is it worth paying over $200/night for onsite access (assuming no room discounts come up, and so far it doesn't seem like rates for my dates are so great) to get FOTL? We might only stay one night, and thus spend one day at USF and the other day at IOA... so I'd be happy to avoid lineups (plus, my fiance HATES lineups for anything!) What do you think?

Thanks!

I don't know if Universal has released information about this coming summer and FOTL. Phantom, do you know?
But, in my honest opinion, I loved staying onsite and loved FOTL! I would never hesitate to do it again.

They haven't said if they will be limiting FOTL this spring or summer yet. So far, during this Christmas season, they haven't limited it.

Either way, FOTL is definitely worth it. Just wait to re-ride after 3:00. It really isn't an inconvenience and it will keep all of the express lines running faster for you.

I was there last July when the limits were "supposedly" in effect. The only place they scanned our room key was the Mummy. They sometimes scanned it at Spiderman, but did not stop us from going on again. I know for a fact that I rode the Hulk over and over several times in a row using my room key in the morning. Even if they do enforce it, it's worth staying on site. Make the rounds of all the rides once, see a show, go to lunch, and before you know it, it's 3:00 and you have unlimited access the rest of the day. Remember, the parks are open later in July also so the FOTL perk can be used for more hours. Also, express access for Shrek is not available if you're not an on site guest.

I thought I had read on these boards that there was express for Shrek for on-site guests, it is just not advertised. I may be wrong, but I thought that even though they do not have an express entrance, you can just show your room key and go in a separate entrance. Am I wrong?

You are correct. They still have FOTL for Shrek for people who are staying onsite.

When we were there, there were no signs nor seperate lines to access Shrek. You need to go to where the employee is at the door and show him your FOTL room pass, and he/she will let you in a seperate line to the left of the main entry door. As far at FOTL goes, it is well worth it and will make the entire experience. Even if they limit it until 3:00PM as before, you can make your rounds around the park using the FOTL once for every ride allowed and it will take you until 3, then go hit the rides you want over again.

I thought FOTL was the absolute best thing about staying at Universal!! It is worth its weight in gold, IMO!

:)

Thanks for all the help, folks... I'm really looking forward to visiting Universal... and hoping FOTL will be worth it!

FOTL is worth it but it can be xpensive but I must admit its the closest I will be a VIP :earboy2:
