Former NBA player Lamar Odom found unresponsive..

See, this is why media & the public often don't respect celebrities privacy. Why is his daughter tweeting right away??? You put yourself out there on social media, you forfeit your privacy. They do it to themselves, don't blame the media or the public.

Tweeting is quite normal for 17 year olds...not just celebs.

Exactly. I'm not saying it's a great idea, but it's what she knows. I hope there is a kind adult around that can help her as the get through this. She is going to need it. The net is not enough, and it has a lot of negativity that won't help her.

The negativity isn't just hard on kids. There are a lot of mean, nasty, unhappy people in this world...and they don't care, who they hurt.

just wondering if all the people hating on the Kardashians have actually ever sat and watched their show?
I have occasionally got sucked into marathons over the years and as much as I have wanted to fault them (and they do have their faults) one thing you can't deny them is that they love each other a LOT and have a very strong family bond.
As much as I may have wanted to not like them in the beginning, I do like them. Especially Khloe. I think it says a lot that they are all at Lamar's bedside- despite them being separated and there for Khloe and for Lamar. And no, I dont think it's for publicity.
I never thought I would publically stand up for the Kardashians but too much hate on the thread especially towards Lamar. He has been through a lot and I wish them all well

I don't inherently dislike them as people. I like Khloe the best if I had to chose one. And I agree that they do love eachother (well Kris does make me question her motives as a mother). But to say they don't want publicity over this isn't really accurate IMO since there are reports of them showing up to the hospital with cameras in tow.

I hope they don't. If I was forced to pick a favorite Kardashian, it would be Khloe. She appears to be the one with the most common sense. When Lamar's career was tanking, she stood up to her Mother and Seacrest to pull the plug on "Khloe and Lamar", their spin-off reality show. I think she's the only one who will really take krazy Kris to task on her actions.

This is the Kartrashians. They thrive on publicity, good or bad. Momma Kris can't pimp out the older daughters now so she is pimping out the younger ones. What have they contributed to society? But websites like Yahoo are full of Kardashian stories everyday instead of something news worthy like fighting poverty or world wars. But then again America thrives on reality tv characters like this family.

I have lots of sympathy &"empathy for his family. My heart bleeds for his kids, just horrible, those poor babies & they are babies, so young.

I do however have no sympathy for him. He was selfish, narcissistic & gave no thought to them. Yes addiction is awful but it is self inflicted. I have seen too much destruction from these idiots to give them my sympathy.

Do you think they can go anywhere without cameras following them? I'm sure the paparazzi assumed they'd be heading to the hospital and staked out the hospital.

It's not the Kardashians fault every paper reports on them. You can ask the 'what have they contributed to society' about A LOT of celebrities. They are societies monster.

I could be wrong but when I read "cameras in tow" I assume they mean the Kardashian's camera crews.

I agree that they aren't to blame to for their "fame". Demand and supply...

He has had a pretty rough hand in life. His mother died of colon cancer, his son died of SIDs, he lost 2 friends to addiction, he is still madly in love with Khloe but messed that up, and he has had to deal with the passing of many other family members. I lost my mom around the same age as him and I can tell you it is a dang miracle I didn't turn to drugs and was able to drop the alcohol problem I developed. I don't like saying addiction is a disease but depression is and I would bet everything I have that Lamar had it and was self medicating because of a stigma he was brought up to have against being a weak man.

I have experienced this firsthand with the Kardashians. I was on a business trip to NYC. The ENTIRE family (Lamar included) was staying at our very small boutique hotel. They were also filming an episode for KUWTK at the time. So you had the film crew at the hotel too. The amount of paparazzi that was outside of the Gansevoort MPD was insane, there had to be at least a hundred of them. The paparazzi were outside the hotel 24/7-with several of them posted up on ladders. Whenever any of the Kardashian's would leave or return you could hear the paparazzi screaming at them to stop for pictures. I was on the 5th floor overlooking the entrance to the hotel and I always knew when someone from the family was coming or going because I could hear those damn paps yelling all the way up in my room. And at night, when they would leave, good lord the flashbulbs! That is why you see them wearing sunglasses at night.

I know this comes with the territory of being a celebrity, and, yes they chose that lifestyle and yes, it's all a result of the Momager(Kris), but to have that crap everywhere you go, all the time, is a bit much. They are societies monster.

Anyway, the recent updates on Lamar (if true) don't sound good. Very sad.

I had not hear about his childhood until today. Until now I only knew him as the famous basketball star and husband of Kloe Kardashian. If anyone can start where he did and overcome all of the obstacles he overcame to reach his level of fame and fortune then I hope he also has it in him to fight for his life and recover. I hope to see him get a second chance.

I thought it was creepy how the media had been reading his teenage daughters ask.fm and publishing her posts. You would think the kid is dealing with enough already.

Work across the street from the Gansevort in 29th and the Starbucks there. We use to tell the paps they couldn't stay in our store. Jerks would come take tables for hours hoping to snap a shot through the window unseen. They never paid and wanted to treat the crew I was managing like crap. The super fans were no better but at least they were usually respectful. So glad I don't have to deal with that crap any more.

Let's not forget the papz are who killed Princess Dianna just for the sake of a photo.

The conspiracy theory which I thought was interesting was that Diana was pregnant and there were certain people who did not want the half brother or sister of the future king to be a Muslim so they put an end to that.

So sad that he didn't have the structure of the game back in his life. It is really too bad.

I read a quote by Jeff Van Gundy today that hit me hard, as I am/was a big Odom fan/Lakers fan. I believe it was from years ago ----

I will destroy it but it was something about so many were always focused on what Lamar Odom could have been on the court, what he never became given his physical talent. And Van Gundy could never understand it. Instead of appreciating where Lamar came from and the unselfishness of his game. Focusing on what he provided.

Appreciating that he won those championships with rebounds and grit, just as much as the superstars' offense and flash.

Lamar wanted others to excel, it was apparent the way he played. Not too many are like that anymore in the NBA.
