cool novel wedding favor for 45 guests?

any advice appreciated!!!!! thank you all!

I made a good friend of mine her garter. I chose a really nice silk ribbon and "borrowed" fabric from a t-shirt from a concert we had gone to together (it her favorite band) and made a button from the fabric, I placed a vintage button (her something old) and new button all on the garter. It was really pretty and she flipped out over it. I know there are nice garters on etsy that essentially are the same idea.

I had fortune cookies that had funny fortunes and our names and wedding date on them. Not to mention tasty!

What I did:
BP gifts: basket of bath and Body works gels/lotions in their favorite scent, a cute disney t shirt.
Favors: Memo pad and ink pens with our names and wedding date on them in our wedding colors

The best wedding favors are usually edible, and something that you would like just in case you have a ton left over. We did two truffles in a box for each guest and didn't have ANY left over at the end of the night (I was a little disappointed! :rotfl2:)

For my bridesmaids I got them LL Bean bags with their names on them. I filled them with things that reminded me of each of them.

There are great hangers on Etsy that have the new last name on the wire part...great for photos.

There is a cool thing online where you give a bottle of wine for each first in the marriage. Each bottle is in a basket and labeled for the occasion.

We set up kind of a candy bar/buffet, had a few bags made and then sent everyone through the line. :thumbsup2

I also did the llbean bags with their names on them and filled them with things like llbean travel bag, perfume etc. My husband got the guys coleman coolers and filled them with manly stuff (pocket knives etc). Check etsy there is tones of personalized items out there. I have a small shop where I sell personalized totes, tile necklaces and will soon be selling personalized pocket mirrors.

For my bridesmaids, I had a spa day. Each girl picked two services. I purchased monogrammed robes for each of them, as well as a pair of slippers, and gave those to them when we arrived at the spa. The girls wore them during our spa day. I also got a set for myself. Lol.

We didn't do a traditional favor for our guests. To be honest, aside from a pair of wine glasses from a vineyard wedding, I haven't kept any of the favors from weddings we've gone to. Anyway, my grandmother passed away 2 months before my wedding. The Center for Missing and Exploited Children was one of her most beloved charities. She was always so worried about those children. So, we made a donation in her name to that charity and I had cards printed up that told our guests what we had done. One was placed at each table setting. I thought this was a much better use of our money than something people would most likely throw away. We got a lot of compliments from our guests, so I don't think anyone was disappointed. Besides, we made sure there were a lot of special touches so our guests knew how happy we were that they could be there to celebrate our special day.

one word... Pinterest A million ideas on there.

One idea i especially like for the girls, is cut out a word from the dictionary that the bride feels best describes each girl and mount them in a necklace. The same could be done for the guys but cuff links instead.

Kiki02...I ordered the robes from LL Bean. They were beautiful and typical LL Bean great quality.

I gave my daughter 2 garters.....one to walk down the aisle....it was made from a piece of my wedding gown (which was my mom's too) .....the other was a philadelphia eagles garter (my son in laws favorite team) she wore this at the reception...he flipped when he saw it.

We did something similar--to the American Cancer Society. My FIL (whom I never met) and two of my aunts (close to our wedding date) died from cancer. We printed a poem on scrolls and left on the guests dinner plates, stating in lieu of traditional favors, we had donated money. Several guests came up to us and mentioned what a great idea that was, instead of chocolate bars or bubbles.

I have been a bridesmaid 8 times and I own more monogrammed tote bags, T shirts emblazoned with the word "BRIDESMAID," cheapo flip flops, necklaces that match dresses I got rid of immediately after the wedding and nothing else, makeup bags full of trial size cosmetics as an "emergency kit" for the day of, and other tchotch than I know how to count.

Things that bridesmaids ACTUALLY appreciate? Something that shows they are more than just a prop in a photo. Something personal. I'd leave the bridesmaid gifts for the bride to pick out... and if she asks your opinion, tell her to come up with something that the bridesmaids will ACTUALLY WANT. My favorite bridesmaid gift was a box of microwave popcorn and a $5 bill, with a card telling me to enjoy a Redbox movie night on the bride. :goodvibes

ita, except the bride asked me to do this. myself.:wizard:

We did not do wedding favors, I agree with some pp's that most of the time people throw them out or put them away in a junk drawer somewhere. Instead we donated money to a soup kitchen and placed cards at each table setting with a cute note explaining that. It made me feel really good to know that the money we could have spent on favors actually helped people.

Also, there are some awesome handmade bridesmaid clutch purses online. Etsy has tons of them. I wish I had known about that site when I got married 3.5 years ago!

We made CDs for each couple of music from our wedding or faves. We have had requests for more. Did the burning and covers ourselves and it was fun. They had a sticker on the front with their name and table name (each table had a name for a fun romance movie like while you were sleeping).
