This is my family on formal night on the magic in Nov 2011. My dress was floor length and DD's was knee length. You can't tell, but mine was sparkly.

I found this dress and am considering buying it to wear for formal night on our Fantasy trip in May. I am just wondering if this dress is too over the top. Obviously it needs to be hemmed if I buy it!) I don't want to stand out for all the wrong reasons...LOL

I think the dress is great!

One note here, you'll most likely lose all the purple edge with the hemming.

Yeah, I am hoping the seamstress will be able to take the length from the green so I don't lose all of the purple on the bottom.

We LOVE LOVE LOVE to dress up! (And, I love that lime green dress!). So, we take the formal wear, even though its a little bulky, and usually have it pressed on the ship so that it is all ready to go for Formal Night.
I don't usually feel out of place, even in my ball gown.

I like the plan of "hemming" the gown by removing the green. My wedding gown had lace edging so the seamstress took the dress apart at the waist and "hemmed" it the same way.

Love the colors -- reminds me of Fantasyland.

Thanks for the opinions, everyone, I love the colors and thought it was perfect for Disney. I was getting flak from some friends in that they think the dress is too young and too bright for me so I am really second guessing myself. DD, on the other hand, gasped and said I look like a princess and immediatly she made me a crown from construction paper...

The colors are fabulous! It's stunningly unique. Do not listen to your friends. You will look great on formal night!

You have to wear it!! It's gorgeous and you will not be sorry. You will get tons of compliments. We always dress up, it's a wonderful opportunity to get formal family portraits taken. We def. see men in tuxes and also men in tank tops (I always want to think they lost their luggage or something) as well. Have fun and go for it!!

Ha ha! I haven't even considered accessories! I don't think I will have money left in my "formal attire" budget after buying the dress! I'll have to see what I can find on sale or see what I might be able to borrow. The only thing I know for sure is that I will be wearing my Betsey Johnson Starburst silver shoes...although I will probably bring my pink polka dot converse shoes too for comfort!

Yeah, that dress is awesome. My wedding gown also had an intricate lace bottom, when the seamstress took it up she did so by taking the waist apart. So you can definitely have it hemmed without losing the purple.

Ds has always worn a tux on formal night, the wears it to the goodbye party in the Vibe on the last night.
I always wear a full length gown complete with gloves and tiara.
Dressing for dinner is one of my favorite cruise activities.

I love love LOVE any chance to dress up. We only had a semi-formal night on the Wonder two years ago but dressed to the nines anyway. DS was two and I bought his tux new on ebay for $36 and then sold it used on ebay for $25. Easy peasy, and so cute!

Are you on the May 18 Fantasy sailing? We are on the 5/18 sailing and I am in the East Bay! I will look for that dress on formal night!
