What an amazing video of you guys! I was struck by the beautiful, genuine smile Kiniah has in all the pictures! You can tell just how HAPPY she is to have found her forever family! Congratulations on making her an official part of your family. And what a beautiful family you all are!!!

I remember when you first got her back in 2008, because shortly after that we received our very first foster placement. We have cared for eight babies since then, several of which we have had the pleasure to witness moving on to their forever homes. And now it is your turn!!!

Thanks so much for sharing! We waited 4 years after ds came home at 2 yrs old for our forever day too. He was already our son in our hearts of course, so the part I remember most was standing in line at the grocery store the day before, and the tears just started... I was so happy and so relieved after imagining what that day would be like for so long, and there I was FINALLY buying the food for it!

Thank you! We never got any more calls after Kiniah. She was our miracle baby brought to us by an accident of fate. It's a long story, but we were licensed through an organization that's affiliated with Lutheran Services and Catholic Charities. They both have a policy of not placing children with same sex families. We didn't know this when we were licensed obviously, but they mixed our file with another family's file when they placed Kiniah. When they realized their mistake months later, they tried to take her away. We had to fight, and even brought the ACLU into it, but we won. It was decided that it wouldn't be in her best interest at that point to remove her from our care. As you can imagine, that was extremely traumatic. So I think we're done. As much as I wanted to be able to care for lots of babies, I just don't know if I have it in me to let them go. It might be different if I knew that the child would be going into a safe environment. But her case was a tough one, and we knew that she needed people who were willing to fight for her to keep her safe.

At the very least, we'll have to take a break before we could consider taking any more placements. I admire you for the work you do, though! It takes strong, special people!

This is it...EXACTLY! You envision it for SOOO long, you think that you're as ready as you could possibly be. And when it finally gets here, it's overwhelming! We cried in the car all the way to the court house. I couldn't stop, even though I knew I was ruining my mascara and my pictures were going to be a mess. It was such a feeling of release!
