We are going to be at Universal in November. I had wanted to go on the Harry Potter Forbidden Journey ride but I watched a video and the video scared me because of the Big spider in it and I read there is a cave with a lot of them from the ceiling. Now I am extremely terrified of spiders I can't even look at pictures of them. I am wondering how bad it is in this ride?

Not only is Aragog, the huge spider present, but all his sons and daughters come down from the ceiling. If you do choose to ride, be aware the spiders do spit at you. I know it is just water but if you aren't prepared you could get a nice splatter in your eye.

I would guess that is a bad 20-30 seconds for an arachnophobe. Close your eyes and you might be fine--only you will know.

Get someone to count how many seconds it is before you get to the spider part and how many before it ends. Then count, close eyes, count, open and you're through.

It would make for an interesting on ride photo! That is where they take it!

I too am terrified of spiders. Is the part with the spiders more dark so that you can't really see them and at any time do they come very close to you. I usually close my eyes (like on shrek) but am a little unsure of this ride.

I'm not exactly terrified of spiders, I just find them super creepy to look at. I think it has something to do with the way they move with those 8 legs. :scared1:

I was so scared of spiders when I was a little girl that I had a pretend spider instead of a pretend friend. I named him Bluto and led him by a leash. He could grown to giant size if I needed protection. I kid you not. :lmao:

I must have experienced some kind of trauma regarding a spider when I was too young to remember for me to be this way. And no... I don't want to be hypnotized to face my fears. I'd faint dead away. :rotfl:

I am also terrified of spiders. The first time I rode, I did end up closing my eyes a bit during this part of the ride. But, when I rode again, I found I was able to keep my eyes open. The spider does "spit" at you, but you don't touch the spiders. I thought the ride was definitely worth enduring the spider part.

They are BIG spiders.

They are lit up and you will see them. They don't come close to touching you, but they spit at you.

I don't recall their legs moving much. Mostly just dangling in front of you.

I find the spiders to be very cartoon-like and not scary. However, they don't bother me in real life either, so I'm not a very good judge of spider scariness.

The only one that was freaky was Aragog cause he/she's huge and is right in your face (specially if you sit in the 2 middle seats.)

You'll be able to close your eyes and crack them open a bit to see when the spider part is done.

I mean this is the kindest way possible---that is hilarious! :rotfl:A pretend spider. Named Bluto. OMG!:rotfl2:
LOVE it!

I was wondering if I would be ok to close my eyes but I also know they are there so I am not sure.

:lmao: I did the same. Ended up enjoying the second ride much more with my eyes open. :) Once I was sure that nothing creepy was going to touch or come too close to me, all was good...

Just know that the spider sequence starts after the dragon spits breath at you and ends after the whomping willow "whomps" you. When you hear Harry's voice again, you'll be spider free.

Then the dementors attack...

I've always wondered if Arachnophobics are hesitant to try out the Spiderman ride? After all, he "Does whatever a Spider can" :rotfl:

I'm scared to death of spiders. Not little ones, but the big, hairy kind I call "basement spiders" because that's where you find them in Chicago. I find that the ones at FJ are not realistic enough to bother me. Actually I don't think any fake spiders would bother me. I'm more terrified of the real ones here in FL as they get giant here! They make Chicago basement spiders look like babies, and they like to spin webs right at face height across the horse trails where I ride, then sit in the middle of their webs. Ugh.

I am a big arachnophobic. can't even look at a picture of one. Spiderman doesn't bother me because it is a drawing of a spider on him. Now if it were a real picture of a spider on his chest, that is another story. When I watched the first spiderman movie, when the spider bit him, that was terrifying for me.

What about spiders on Shrek? My ds & I are planning on doing Shrek in December, but my ds is very afraid of spiders. Can you please tell me what to expect?
