Hmm,,, I wonder even if they did that, if timeshares would be included?

Maybe, maybe not. But Disney has usually applied the same general rules to DVC resorts as they do to regular WDW resorts, because they do rent our rooms cash guests. Which could lead to an interpretation by a jury that timeshares that have rooms availabel for cash, fall under the guideline. Either way, I think Disney would play it safe and apply non-smoking to DVC resorts if it were applied to regular WDW resorts.

Technically, not likely. But I agree with Chuck that DVC would go along with all WDW hotels. And many timeshares would likely take that option as well since it means less complaints overall and lower maintenance fees.

OK....I just got back from SSR and I must say it was my most relaxing vacation in years! Everything was GREAT except......people SMOKING :sad2: at the pools.
I absolutely could not get away from them!!! I was surrounded! If I moved sure enough someone else appeared out of no where to sit next to me (or near by) and light up! What gives??? :confused3 Can't some one at DVC make a SMOKING AREA :smokin: at the pools for these people???? I actually had to leave the main pool on two different days because of this!!! I HATE IT!!!!

OK...just needed to vent....THANKS!:upsidedow

I am big enough that I tend to intimidate others. I challange rude people that have no considerations for those around them. Yes, I know there is no non-smoking area at the pools but considerate people take into account those around them. I just don't understand why at the very least WDW does not designate a smoking area in the crowded area of the resorts away from the pool area or a section that is smoking somewhere around the pool and the rest non-smoking..smjj

I still find it hard to believe that smokers still smoke at the pool (kids running around and crowded). I am a smoker but have the consideration to walk away from people and find a remote location to smoke.I do think the pool area should be non-smoking, I acually thought it was when I was at OKW this past June. There was not one ashtray or anyone smoking!

I can't imagine smoking at a public swimming pool. Sure wish this could be discussed on the regular board section.

Where did you get the new signature picture. I think that is sooo cool. Post to the thread that is talking about this new DVC resort and see how many others notice. Its on this board I just can think of the name so early in the morning before my first cup of coffee..smjj

NOPE....it's such a bad habit that this discussion has now been regulated to the back alley of the DisBoards!

I'm not a big pool person so I really didn't know that smoking was allowed at the pools. I usually only go while I am washing some clothes (staying in a studio), and honestly don't think I've ever seen anyone smoking.

This Easter we had a 'gentleman' smoking in the OKW Hot Tub (near the lighthouse Sauna). He was an Owner, BTW not a renter.

I had to ask a Lifeguard, if smoking was allowed *IN* the hot tub. The Life Guard asked the Owner to desist, and quite a loud argument resulted. After about ten minutes the cigar smoker left.

I have NEVER been at the main pool without having someones smoke waft over to me, never.

Technically they're private pools.

I'll agree here. Smoking IN the hot tub is just wrong. It's actually worse that he was an owner.

Wrong and probably hard to do....Usually when I am in the Hot Tub I am wet including my hands....he must have had a hell of a time keeping it lit

Where was he dumping his ashes? :confused3

I still find it hard to believe he was acually sitting in the Hot Tub with a Lit Cigar..water + fire? :teacher:

And if he was to lazy or inconsiderate to get out of the Hot Tub for a smoke...I wonder what else he was to lazy or inconsiderate to get out of the Hot Tub for :rolleyes1

Maybe that's why the hot tub was staying hot. :rotfl2:

I would dearly love it if people would stop wearing perfume, I am highly allergic to many. BUT, that ain't gonna happen.

I am serverly allergic to perfumes. Being in an airplane with someone wearing lots of perfume is absolutely unbearable for me--congestion, headache, thoat constriction, general cold symptoms. But alas, I deal with it because who am I to deny their right to wear perfume. Granted my allergy isn't life threatening, but it does impact how i feel and my symptoms.

I agree with you. Smoking on balconies should be permitted if a smoking room isn't available.

Hmm... well. how do you decide what area is smoking-optional and what's non-smoking? Do you put the smokers in the sun and the non-smokers in the shade? What about non-smokers who want to tan? Or reverse that, and what do you do about non-smokers who want to be by the pool but NOT in direct sunlight the rest of the time? And what about non-smokers who may have to walk through the smoking section to get where they want to be at a given pool, not by choice but by design?
Now, JerJan - while the first time someone nearby smoked, you moved it was most likely because they were there first? But when you moved to an area where nobody was smoking or had a pack of cigarettes out, or even where there was nobody else nearby, and then someone placed themselves near you and lit up, you had EVERY right to (politely) ask them not to smoke near you - maybe even point out where you'd been sitting before? Since Disney and DVC won't set smoking and non-smoking areas at the pools, why can't Guests and Members respectively do it themselves?

It never hurts to ask. That doesn't mean the person has to comply. Although I do find it hard to believe that no matter where you went there was someone smoking.
