We will have kids the ages of 15, 15, 14, 13, 12 & 12.....yes, two sets of twins.... Right now, we're booked at SSR, but I was thinking that the extra space at OKW would be nice. Other than the benefit of walking to DTD, I was wondering about the pools. Both of them seem pretty cool, but do you think there's any real difference between the two for a bunch of teenagers. Is either slide any better than the other??

TIA!!!:flower3: Kim

For the ages of your children I would recommend OKW. Reason being is there are many things close to the main pool such as shuffleboard, volleyball, basketball, tennis along with the community hall. Slides are very similar but they may enjoy the OKW pool better.

Noticed last week that the Turtle Pool at OKW seemed to be the teen hangout but I'm sure that changes week to week. Didn't spend any time at SSR main pool but went to the new pool at SSR (Grandstand?). Although it would be fun for a short while for teens (squirting siblings is always good for a laugh), I'm sure it wouldn't retain their interest for too long. Its an easy walk from that area to the main pool.

IMHO, I think with that many teens I'd be more concerned about space so OKW would be tempting.

We just spent a week in March at SSR with four teens, 3 girls and one guy (lucky guy !!) We were near the Congress Park quiet pool. They were busy all day between the pool, walks to the Community Hall and Downtown Disney. We have stayed with the same crew at OKW previously. They enjoyed that as well but this time was definitely better. You don't necessarily need everything in one area. The short walks between pool and DD were just enough. They spent every evening at DD and walked all the way to Virgin and the House of Blues to watch the entertainment.

I don't know how much your teens would use the slide at either pool. My DD (almost 16) refuses to go down the slide!! She sits in the sun!! My other DD's love OKW as they love the community hall and such!!

DD almost 16 swears there are cuter boys at OKW than any other resort!!!!! LOL!!

Rosemary,

If I tell my girls that, they'll force me to change to OKW....no questions asked!! :lmao:

Thanks everyone for your suggestions and POV. I think we're going to have to have a pow-wow this weekend and discuss our options.

As a member of DVC, we'll be able to pool-hop which kind of alleviates some pressure on where to stay....

I like both pool slides alot. Probably equally. SSR has a slight edge because of the foodcourt being right there - very convenient for a day by the pool. ;)
