For those who have stayed AFT on the Dream or Fantasy...

We have stayed aft on both the Dream and Fantasy (just last week - Cabin 6668). Outside of when docking at a port, I really cannot say I noticed any vibrations. When they dock and use the thrusters and reverse the propellers the whole ship vibrates, so I don't think that should be a big concern.

Advantages - virtually never have to wait for an elevator (I avoid mid-ship elevators like the plague); one floor down and short walk to the kid's clubs; two floors down to the bars; three floors down to Animators and Royal Court.

Cons - elevators dump right into Cabanas. Still the most odd thing in the design.

If I have to go from aft to mid or forward I always either go to 4 and walk outside or up to 11 and along the pool deck. Way better than the narrow and twisting hallways.

i'll second the agreement with the cabanas dump. i always felt strange when it was closed and we had to walk through.

but back to the post. we were as aft as you could get on deck 8. loved it. yes, occasionally we felt vibration but it was not all that much, not really noticeable. what i found strange was if we walked from the adult area down to through cabanas to the elevator it felt like it took no time but if we took the stairs or elevator from the adult area down to eight and walked to our cabin through the cabin hallway it seemed to take for ever. i hated doing that. don't ask me what the difference is except perception i guess.
i rebooked aft for our next two cruises.

Has anyone stayed in either of these 2 rooms? Fantasy 6032 or 6034? These are the rooms we have booked for our first Disney cruise. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. What are the pros and cons of this room location?

We had 8188 on the April 21 Fantasy and it was great. It is a long walk forward, but you have to walk off all the extra food anyway. I would definitely try for this room again in the future. I have been mid prior to this, and I like aft better.

We will be in 8174 on Fantasy in Sept-so glad you posted this, I've been concerned about the location..I don't mind the walking at all, I would have worried about the vibrations but you didn't mention any, so it must be ok!

We were in 9172 on the Dream.. and love it.. The verandah was a nice size, and the walk was not bad at all (except to the laundry room, at the other end!) I'd do it again, and have booked 7634 on the Wonder for next Feb!

Hmmm now I am rethinking! I can get a 7a for just $300 more than my 11a and having a verandah in the carribean would be heaven for me!!!!

on the eighth floor the laundry room is aft, so you would have the option of going down one floor to use the laundry. I have not checked but I wonder if the laundry rooms alternate fore and aft this way on alternating floors.

HUGE fans of the Aft location here!! We stayed 9672 in Nov on the Dream and booked the same room for our June 2013 cruise :yay: Yes, there are some vibrations and noises when going into port, but the stairs and elevators are right there AND the view as you come into port at Castaway Cay is just about worth the $$ for the whole cruise!

They do alternate. I stayed in 9634 on the Dream and always went down 1 floor to the laundry when necessary. I checked all the locations on the deck plans.

I stayed both on the Dream. I liked midship better. We always take the stairs anyhow, so elevators were not an issue. The Aft had alot of vibration when docking. It wasn't horrid, but we felt zero movement in our midship room. Midship room was also easier to get to wherever.... whereas aft, if you had to go clear forward, it was a trek. We had inside porthole rooms(which we loved) on both.

Hello! Me and my family will be on 01-06-2013 Disney Dream at room 9662! Can you give more details or better, do you have some pics from the room? Thank you so much! (first time we cruise)

We were on deck 9 right by the Aft Elevators. I loved this location. Easy for Cabanas and when the gangway is Aft. I don't mind the walk forward because sometime we dropped the kids off at the club which is on the way to the forward part of the ship.

You are also close to the adult night life and the Aft Elevators are typically the least busy.

We have done aft and midsip on the Dream. I have to say I prefered midship. Walking and location was not the problem at all. In fact, since we had no kids and spent a lot of time in the District, aft was a better location. It was the shaking while coming into port that was the problem. First morning I was up early and the in gym, so it was not a big deal. But the second morning, when I decided to sleep in, it woke me up. I had no problems with shaking while in motion, only when docking. Not a huge deal, but if I could pick, I'd go midship.

We were in 10160 on the Dream last year and loved it. Never noticed any vibrations or noise from Cabanas. We're in 9172 on the Fantasy this year. We love aft rooms, and the large verandahs.

We did not stay in the AFT area, but did notice a vibration when we went to that part of the ship. I do remember telling my husband I would not want a room back there because of the vibration on the Fantasy. Hope that helps;/)

We just got off the 7 night Western on the Fantasy and were 8178, pretty much all the way AFT.
We love the location, and had no issue with any vibrations.....

We were as far AFT as one could be---7190. Loved it. Felt some mild vibration occasionally. The walk to midship was long and strangely the AFT elevators did not go all the way down to the lower decks. Loved the convenience to Cabanas and Animator's though. Liked it so much we booked AFT 9172 for next year.

Great to know. I just changed from a 5E Aft to an mid deck 2 11C because my boys wanted a magical porthole. I was really worried I could regret it.
