For those of you who have cruise other lines....:?

I have cruised on Costa, RCI and Carnival. I had great experiences in all of them.

I did the Carnival cruise with my wife (Destiny, Eastern Caribbean). We had no kids at the time. It was awesome! We loved the food, the entertainment was great (though a notch below Disney but that is expected imo) and the atmosphere we felt was just right.

Carnival does give out that "party all the time vibe" but its really not in your face. If we wanted to relax we could always find a quiet spot to do so. If we wanted to revel we could go to the "bathrobe party" (that was fun) or any of the places they had dancing. They have a little of everything. It was a very complete cruise experience I thought.

And the price cannot be beat as well.

we have done Royal carribean as a couple w no kids, it was a nice time and good food. We just got off Dream,, this time we had a 7yr old and we LOVE disney so this one was highly anticipated. I thought the rooms were nicer, to me the activities were comparable as far as variety of things and I am ok if the shedule has blank holes now and then. As far as food, while some of the food we thought to be very good, some was just "ok". It has been several yrs since our RC cruise so I don't know if they have the midnight buffet anymore or not but sorry Disney your buffet lacks in comparasion big time!
I cruised Carnival many years ago so I can't really say my experience would be an apples to apples comparasion now, but from researching cruises I can tell you Carnival will be cheaper!

One thing I found REALLY interesting about the Carnival cruise, they are VERY specific about what can and cannot be worn in the dining rooms.
They actually list things like "no shorts, cut offs, sleeveless shirts on men...etc" and it isn't just a "suggestion". We saw a man have to leave the Steakhouse and go put on nicer clothes. I've never seen anyone turned away like that on Disney. I think they're too afraid of offending someone.....even if that one person's clothes offend many others around him or her.

On formal night, I saw more tuxes and gowns than I've seen on several of my last Disney cruises.

They may do this at the steakhouse but not the MDR. I have worn and seen other wearing shorts in the MDR on both Carnival cruises we have taken.

Dom't have to worry about kids club, it's our sons wedding cruise

LOL! I was thinking young kids. The big kids will like it, too. BLue Man Group,, Legends, and Howl at the Moon were a lot of fun.

My dh's favorite place to eat was the pub.

Maybe it's because those going on Carnival can afford the tuxes and gowns because their cruise is cheaper:rotfl2:

True, I only saw them ask the gentleman to go change (and he did) at the Steakhouse. But the clothing requirements I listed were for the main dining rooms. It was far dressier for the Steakhouse.

So what did you think of the steak house? I love the rib-eye and the chocolate sampler at the end

SOOOOOO good. And I'm really sorry, but FAR better than Palo. O.M.G. I'm so glad I get to go again (on the Splendor in 3 weeks).....I had the Filet & Lobster tail. We shared almost all of the sides.....yum......I didn't try the chocolate sampler, I was stuffed...but I will next time. I had the carmelized apples in the pastry puff.......awesome!

Just an FYI, RCI started a huge sale for new bookings today. 1/2 off deposits (I think it is) and OBCs. Too bad we can't reshop cruises already booked. :scared:
