We leave in 9 days ( - sorry, couldn't resist!)

How are the crowds and how much rain is really coming down?

TIA!

Live from WDW!~

No rain, beautiful sunshine, 90 degrees or so max temp.

Crowds? yuck. I was here in July and August and I swear that it wasn't that busy. World Showcase is really crowded with Food and Wine.

Apparently it's due to the Jewish holiday plus Food and Wine, and will get a little less crowded during the week. Let's hope!!

Just back 105-10/11:

The crowds were very manageable except Sunday got a little more busy at Mk and we made the mistake of going to Epcot on Monday - several things worked against us there: #1 it was an early entry day and we weren't early #2 It was the wine festival #3 it was columbus day. Otherwise, we rarely waited more than 15 minutes except for major attractions like Space Mtn and then we used Fast Passes or waited until MNSSHP (very light crowd on our night 10/7). Water park seemed especially light on crowds and was our most relaxed day. The lines were never long although the wave pool was fairly covered but still enjoyable.

More updates live from WDW!

- Epcot continued to be busy over the weekend; Soarin' waits 2.5 hours Saturday afternoon, no fastpasses left
- AK packed by 11am Sunday (safari and walkways), Dinosaur 10-15 minute wait, Kali 20 minute wait, Triceratop Spin 20 minute wait
- Hallowe'en party pretty empty on Sunday - there were 6 people watching Hallowishes from the train station viewing platform!!!
- Pirates 6 pax just after the parade, then got a little busier
- It's a Small World 0 minute wait 540pm; Haunted Mansion 5 minute wait 6pm; Peter Pan 20 minute wait 530pm

- 10am today Soarin had a 40 minute wait, crowds manageable.
- 11am WS empty; no lines at the food kiosks; Maelstrom 5 minute wait at noon
- Food and Wine crowds starting to build around 1230pm but still manageable

Word at Epcot is that this coming weekend will be busy with the Beach Boys performing.

Weather still gorgeous blue sky and about 87 degrees

thanks for the references bavaria...it seems like sometimes one person's "empty" can be another's "packed" so it's good to see something concrete. trying to decide about adate for next yr (still)!.

We leave in 20 days! :cool1:

I am surprised it is still in the 90s. I was hoping those temps would be gone!

But no humidity, so it's bearable, and cool in the morning and evening. Lows in the low 70's, highs in the high 80's. Still need lots of sunscreen, and bug repellant in the evening.

I am used to empty parks in January, etc which may be a thing of the past due to smart marketing.

It also depends on time of day, etc. Knowing that this was going to be fairly busy week, I didn't plan on too much park time. That's a huge benefit of being a regular visitor.

I'll see if I can keep an eye on some wait times tonight and let you all know!

We just returned late last night after an eight night stay. I have to disagree with Bavaria about the humidity. It was VERY humid every single day. It was 90 everyday until two days ago when it finally dropped to the mid 80's. The sun was in and out, when behind clouds, not too bad, but again the humidity killed us. Maybe it depends on where you are from, but to us the weather was the biggest negative. And the crowds were what I would call "medium", except as others noted Sun and Mon, 10/9 & 10/10 which was very busy. We had a great vacation in spite of the temps! :flower:

lulubelle, sadly I may have become aclimatized to humidity as I have been in southern states for most of this year.

But it is dry today, and I have felt dry since Friday. I too used to absolutely wilt in the humidity - maybe I am becoming a southerner!!! :sunny:

We also just returned. Yes the Humidity was horable. And the crowds were large. Friday the 6 it rained, Saturday was just miserable and sunday was better and Monday was Humid but tolarable. We stood in line for Buzz lightyear ride for 1 hour and 15 minutes. That iw ill never do again for no more than the ride was. Also stood in line to get Monster Sully and Mike autograph. Got to them and the Cast Member told us the charters don't do paper work. My grand daughter 7 was so sad.

We just got back today! We had a wonderful trip of course but it was too hot & too crowded. I am from Alabama so I am used to humidity but the heat was terrible from noon to 3 or 4. We went the last time in January so we were spoiled to crowds. We played it smart with FP & being there early so we rode everything we wanted. We will pass on Oct. in the future.

I'm a transplanted Northerner currently living in Orlando .. the humidity the past week is MUCH better than it has been, and the temperatures are dropping too. In the past few days, I've been able to open windows in my apartment, rather than running the AC all the time, and I've been able to rely on windows rather than AC for some of my drive time too. It may not feel less humid to those coming straight from a Northern climate, but to those of us who have been here for a while, it's a LOT better.

NO, no, no, I'm hoping for a lot of heat and :sunny: I'm worried that once the heat breaks it will go in the other extreme. I'll take 90 and humid gladly.
We're leaving the 8th so let's compromise and settle for 80's with lots of :sunny: :sunny: :sunny:

I updated those other times. Here are some more:

- El Rio del Tiempo 5pm today 10 pax waiting (vs Saturday around 4pm when the line went all through the queue area and into the pavilion, which I have never seen before!)

- Soarin' 630pm 70 minutes stand by

The walkway around World Showcase was pretty manageable from 3pm - 7pm, with the only crowds around Germany :goodvibes and Canada :goodvibes .... hmmm..... Germany for the Australia wine area plus Snow White, I assume; Canada for Off Kilter.

Lines for most Food and Wine booths were 0-5 people max.

I hope that the informaiton helps someone - JimFitz must now take over as I am leaving tomorrow and he'll be around for awhile - and I KNOW that he's online checking the Dis while on vacation! ;)

What does "pax" mean? I noticed it on an earlier post too. :)

Pax = passengers ie guests

Sorry, I should avoid lingo!

Now, someone needs to go tell JimFitz that the torch has been passed to him and that he needs to do some updating. I'm off to DTD!!!

went to MK on fri.....early it looked like rain. hot, humid, large crowds.
AK on saturday, not quite as hot or humid, but still large crowds.
MGM yesterday, again not quite as hot or humid, crowds still large.
i heard someone mention that some of the florida schools were out friday and today. not sure if it was true or not.
it seems that this october is not what was advertised as far as weather or crowds.

was is hot...yeah

was it humid? Probably...

did we care?

NOT AT ALL!! :cool1:

actually we got home to Iowa the 3rd and it was HOTTER here than in FL and at least there was a breeze there

we wish we could have done a little more waitinf in lines for attractions as each area tells a story and has sooo much fun and facts before the ride even begins, we missed a lot of it...

we never thought the crowd was terrible!! Very manageable except for spectro IMO

HAVE FUN@
