For the Love of Disney - Dec 5-13

Sunday, December 6th ~ Magic Kingdom part 2

We then said good-bye to my sister and nephew, they were leaving early the next morning and we knew we wouldn’t see each other again. Plus my sister and I were already crying from being emotional on Splash Mountain and decided it best to say good-bye then rather have to endure another crying episode later (we’re both very good at those crying episodes!!!). We decided to ride a couple more rides before calling it a day.

*Snow White

*Pirates of the Caribbean

Has anyone else ever noticed this? I hadn't until this trip. It's floating bottles (of whisky I'm sure-haha)!

At about 7:00pm we decided to head back to Poly and relax. It had been a whirlwind couple of days with traveling and trying to spend time with family.

UP NEXT: DEC 6 - SWIMMING

Sunday, December 6th ~ Swimming

We headed back to Poly at about 7:00pm and went swimming at the volcano pool. It was pretty chilly outside (high 50s probably) but the water was 82 degrees. The lifeguard was off duty so the slide was closed but we had the pool to ourselves which was wonderful.

We ran back to the room and everyone showered and got ready for bed. I headed to Caption Cook’s and refilled my mug and then caught up on my trip journal. We were in bed with lights out by 10:30.

Favorite Rides of the Day
Travis: Splash Mountain
Nikky: Splash Mountain (for sentimental reasons – I could have lived without getting wet!!!)
Hayley: Test Track
Caya: It’s a Small World (the baby doll ride in her words)

Favorite Character of the Day
Hayley: Daisy (only one we saw today)
Caya: Daisy (only one we saw today)

Favorite Part of the Day
Hayley: Hanging out with her 4 cousins
Caya: Swimming (she would have been just as happy at the local holiday inn-haha)

UP NEXT: FUTURE TRIP? NOPE, NOT FOR AWHILE!

Yay, a new update!

Those sunset pictures are beautiful.

Aww, I bet that was a bittersweet moment on Splash Mountain. I'm sure I probably would've started crying too. :sad1:

Hi, Nikky! I'm just joining in. The Poly is absolutely my dream resort-- but DBF is not a fan. I'm still working on him for our super-deluxe vacation next year;)
The picture of your girls on Aladdin's Flying Carpets, with Hayley's arm around Caya is TOO precious! What a good big sister.
Eagerly awaiting more!

Thank you! :lovestruc Hayley is a great big sister...I wish we had those tender moments 100% of the time but they fight like the best of them (even with an 8 year gap between them).

Good luck convincing DBF that you need a super-deluxe vacation next year. I'm sure you deserve it! ;)

Welcome back Nikky! I've missed you around here!
Sounds like a great day. How great that you and Travis got some alone time with Caya. I just love the fact that one could hop on a monorail at Epcot and be at the Magic Kingdom in minutes via highway in the sky. The sleeping CM is just too much.:rotfl2: Sounds like a great day at MK and you were getting a lot of classics done. :thumbsup2
Hugs to you for riding Splash. That must of been hard.
Swimming when it's in the 50s!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?:scared1::scared1::scared1:
I could never swim when it's that cold. My hat goes of to you.

Hi Nikky!! I hope all is well!! I miss seeing you on the DIS!! Can't wait for another update!! :goodvibes Did you receive my Christmas card?!

I did, I did! Thank you so much! It was adorable and the girls dresses were so cute. They can make anything cute, I'm sure! :lovestruc

I finally figured out how to do multi quote replies! I'm such a ding dong sometimes, I swear! :rotfl:
I hope you and the family are doing well!!

Thank you, we are all doing great. Busy, but great!!! :lovestruc

Hi Nikky!! I just found your trip report and have been reading through it! I love the poly! We've stayed there four times, but this August we are getting two rooms at the French Quarter. We've stayed at Riverside twice too, but that was when my two littlest kids were under three! So now, we are planning on doing two rooms. Just waiting to see if/when free dining comes out. We always go in August, b/c DH is a high school teacher and he teaches summer school, so we go the last two weeks in August before school starts back up again!

I love your youngest dd in her cheer costume! My boys play basketball and lacrosse and do karate, but my dd hasn't yet found her niche!:goodvibes We've done dance for two years and also gymnastics. But I didn't sign her back up in Sept, b/c she was starting K and I wasn't sure how she would handle the five full days of school. Between school and the boys activities she is wiped at the end of the day! But I'd like to find something to start with her again in Sept.

Can't wait to read more!

Welcome! We clearly have the same taste in resorts. I think the only 2 I've booked are Poly and Riverside!

Good luck finding your daughter's niche! I feel so blessed we found cheerleading for Caya. It was the perfect fit. I wish we could have found Hayley's a long time ago. She does everything and is okay but never found that one thing she really loves and excels at. She recently decided she might like to join Caya's cheer gym. I think we will let her try this summer when they are through this year's competition season and see how it goes.

awesome trip report so far! Keep it up!

I'm a little behind!! I never saw your room pics until now and what a nice room!! Any views out your window??!! I'm glad I'm not too far behind! I'm ready for more!

So am I! :rotfl: Our room was of the quiet pool. I was not happy with the location when they told us but had already decided I wasn't going to argue and trust the powers that be. It really ended up being a great spot for us. Although, I think you'd be hardpressed to find a location at Poly that you didn't like.

Hi Nikky
I followed overy from Becksy PTR. Your girls are adorable!! I love your luggage too!! Where did you get the cute poka dot luggage and back pack?
Great report! I look forward to reading more!!

Laura

Hi Laura! I'm so glad you stopped by! We got the luggage at a store called Gordmans. It's kind of like Marshall's or TJ Maxx if you're familiar with either. They were super cheap and worth every penny. The backpack was actually Hayley's school backpack last year...we got it at the Bass outlet.

I know, I know...I need to be scolded. I really am sorry! :guilty:

I hope you and your family are doing okay!!!

Thank you so much! You (and everyone on the Dis) are so sweet. We are all doing just fine...just busy and wishing for more free time for the Dis. I have seriously contemplated taking a day off just so I could update my TR!

A very beautiful family. Yes your husband is cute. lol Can't wait till there's more.

Awww, thanks! ;)

Yay :yay: you are back!! I hope you are doing well Nikky and the family too. Nice hint to DH! Did he go for it?

Ep: I hope you had a great time meeting up with your nephews (and their girlfriends). Did you enjoy spending time with Caya by herself? I think the pictures are great of WS! I am so excited to see it in person again. :goodvibes: What a great family moment riding Maelstrom together in rememberance of your Dad! A special magical moment of the trip I bet!

Mk: What a great moment--such a beautiful sunset over one of your Dad's favorite rides. :goodvibes: Yay for Cayla being brave and riding SM! What did she think?

Cute pictures from swimming time! Wonderful pictures throughout the TR--I just love looking at photos from TRs. It is making me survive the time leading up to our trip!

Hey! I know I'm super late in joining your trip report, but I read it all & caught up this morning. We were there the week before yall.. we left the day yall arrived! Christmas season at Disney is really just the BEST!

Your girls are absolutely gorgeous! My son, Jake, was looking at the pictures as I was reading along and pointed to the one of Caya stunting at DHS and was like, "She's so CUTEEEE!" :goodvibes

You should totally convince your hubby that another Christmas trip is in order for this year!

I'm super late in updating so we'll be a good pair! :) I think I would really like Jake - what a sweetheart. :lovestruc I'm still working on my hubby but...and isn't there always a but??? He doesn't have any more personal days. They only get 2 per year and can only carry 4 over...that means we will be on the every other year plan at best. Unless I decide to bear the summer heat sometime. That's just so hard after enjoying December so much!!

Are you going to do a TR???? hint hint ;)

I'm glad you're back!!! You got some really great pics of World Showcase. Caya is adorable as always! Can't wait for more! :goodvibes

It feels so good to be back. I can't wait to go check out your updates!!! :lovestruc

Just signing on...we'll be there around the same time this year. The weather looks great!!! Did it rain at all? Ever too cold???

Welcome! Lucky you!!! It rained one day but just for a little bit and not enough to ruin our plans. The weather was crazy...chilly a couple days (low 60's) and hot a couple (87). It was never unbearable either way. And no never too cold...we swam the coldest night because the pool was heated. We wore sweatshirts and jeans and were just fine. You will LOVE it!

Yay, a new update!

Aww, thanks for the empathy! You are always so sweet! :lovestruc

Awww, thanks for the hugs! You are so sweet! Swimming really wasn't bad...the pool was heated and the atmosphere incredible. It was just the walk back that was horrid! haha

Thank you so much for all the sweet comments!!! :lovestruc Caya actually really, really liked Splash Mountain. I think once she got past the fear of thinking the bottom was going to drop out (Tower of Terror) she enjoyed all the other rides. It was nice spending time with her...and just allowing her to go at her pace for a bit. Although, once my family was gone, out pace slowed down a ton and we really enjoyed every minute!

Love the pictures (especially the world showcase and sunset ones) and the whole trip report so far. Im surprising DW with ressies at the Poly instead of POR this fall so Im loving the pictures of it too.

Im in for the rest - another central Illinoisian along for the ride.

So glad you are back, and what a super treat with 3 updates!:goodvibes

Your photos turned out incredible, and how great to spend the day touring the Park with your Family.:goodvibes

Looking forward to more!:)

It was a bittersweet moment. My sister and I both cried remembering times with my sweet Dad enjoying this ride. I'm glad we did it but I don't think I will be up to doing it again for a long time.

I know it was bittersweet for you, but think how happy your dad would be seeing that new generation enjoying his favorite rides with their own moms and dads.

I am enjoying your pictures. I have never paid attention to whiskey bottles in the POTC waters.

So glad you're back! What a wonderful day; it looks gorgeous even though you said it was a bit chilly!

Wow! Great pics!!! The girls look absolutely adorable :goodvibes

I am so happy to see that you guys got to swim. We will be going in December, and I really wanted a chance to do that. How great that you had the pool to yourselves :thumbsup2

It seems like lots of fun to have so many people on the trip with you. The kids must have had a blast playing together! It touched me to hear that you and your sister cried during Splash. I know your Dad would be really proud! Can't wait for another update popcorn::

Sorry I've been missing...I don't have another trip planned so it is hard for me to be on the boards! But I did catch up with your report. What a beautiful sunset! I totally know what you mean about crying episodes...I'm the same way so I try to avoid them as much as possible! That sunset was beautiful though :)

Love the pictures of the Poly. I want to go back!

I'm the same way! I thought I was one of the only ones who takes "breaks" from the boards when there isn't a trip in the works. :(

Hopefully you're able to head back down there soon!

Yeah, another person from central IL! :yay: Your wife is going to be one happy lady! What an awesome surprise! You have great taste in resorts...POR is where we have stayed prior to this trip.

Are you going to write a PTR or TR? (hint, hint) ;)

So glad you are back, and what a super treat with 3 updates!:goodvibes

Awww, thanks! I'm so glad now that we did it...it would have been easy to just pass it up but I would be soooo mad at myself right now if I would have!

So YOU'RE those people that swim in the pool when it's freezing...:thumbsup2

Yes, Jordan, we ARE those people!

So glad you're back! What a wonderful day; it looks gorgeous even though you said it was a bit chilly!

I still LOVE your name! :lovestruc It was a tad chilly but you heard no complaints from us...we were at Disney. It was actually better than being all sweaty! :rotfl:

Thanks Katie - I just caught up on your trip report. You are really, really making me look bad. Awesome job with all your updates!!! :lovestruc

Oooh, I know exactly what you mean! I need another trip to plan! Sigh! I just read your TR - great job and how awesome that you were able to take a trip with your Mom. I would so love a trip with my Mom, unfortunately, she is no longer healthy enough to travel. Don't you wish you could make it an annual event? :lovestruc

I don't really want to take a break...somehow that just seems to happen, huh? Another trip will be a little ways down the road for us...see my next update! ;)
