I am renting points for next July. I have been looking at the building map and suggestions in the Unofficial Guide.

I'd like to be close to the main pool, but yet with a nice quiet water view, away from traffic noise.

His suggestion was Building # 13. I'm sorry but I have "a thing" about the number 13. I know it's stupid, but..........

He then suggested Buildings #12 and 11, but stated that would be golf course views only.

I'm wondering about Building #62. Right across from the Bus Stop and the Main Building. And perhaps I could request a "non street" view.

My other choice might be Building #14, on the side facing #13 away from the street and parking lot, but is that far from the pool??????

Thirdly I was looking at #23, but it looks like it's across a bridge from the pool. Is this far.

It's so hard to tell true distance on the map.

Also, what are the other pools like??? Would they be just as nice. We'll have 6 adults and 2 children ages 12 and 8.

Can anyone offer any suggestions??? Thanks so much.

Ok I dont have a map in front of me, so I dont know from numbers, but I have stayed there.

Request a room near the Peninsula bus stop. These buildings are jsut across the bridge from the lobby/main pool and the walk is short. Plus, this is the first bus stop and the lobby is the last bus stop. Sp if you walk up and see the bus you wanted just pulling away, you can beat it to the lobby and skip the 20+minute wait for the next one.

Bldgs 11 & 12 will have a golf course/woods view. Bldg 62 & 63 will have a view of a green and a canal. Be forewarned though - there are GV's in bldg 63 and it might be rather noisy in the rooms below since the GV's have hardwood floors. Neither of these really have a "street view". I agree about distance on the map, it can be deceiving. We stayed in bldg 18 one time and it was a quick 5 min walk to the main pool. It was also very close to Miller Road bus stop and a quiet pool. The main pool is nice, but there is no slide. They do have a dj at times and some pool games/contests. Given the ages of your kids, they might be just as happy at the quiet pools. The Turtle Pond area has a nice pool w/snack bar.

I would recommend requesting 'close to Hospitality House/main pool' and 'water view'. When it comes to requesting specific buildings, you might be setting yourself up for disappointment if those building are not available and the resort doesn't know why you want those buildings. If they know you want to be close to the main pool and want a water view it will be easier for them to accomodate you.

I stayed in 26 once, it isn't that far to the main pool. We had both a water and golf view, our room was on the end closest to 25.

Don't request a building, request a view. Such as water view or golf course view. Smoking or non-smoking. Close to Hospitality House or other. Near a pool or other. If you request a specific building, the odds are against you getting what you really want.

If you're in a 2 BR then you should request something in Bldg 30 or higher, otherwise people need to go through the Master Bedroom to use the bathroom (or something to that affect).

Just an FYI, you might get more response of you post this on the DVC board.

We stayed in building 11 once and it was a woodsy view from the first floor. DS had a cow because he saw a snake in the woods from the balcony and did not go out there again! (at least he says he saw one!!! I did not see it)

If you want to be close to the front (I am assuming you won't have a car?), Pennusular area is great. It is just a short walk to the front, it is the first stop in the inner run of the buses and if you miss that bus, you can walk up to the Hospitality House bus stop before the bus gets there and catch that same bus before it heads out to the parks.

We have stayed in all the areas and love South Point area the best because of the water views although it is a walk away from the Hospitality House, but it has its own quiet pool nearby.

I don't really believe that you will be disappointed in any area at OKW; it is such a lovely resort!

Have a great trip!!!!!!!!

Thanks so much everyone. I think I might ask for a water view in the Peninsula area, if possible, near the hospitality house. Or something to that effect.

Please keep in mind it is a REQUEST only and you are not guaranteed a specific building number!!!
