This is what often puzzles me most about some of the Bush Supporters. They complain about things Kerry and his supporters do yet they (the BSs) don't seem to notice their side has done the same things. Of course, if you watch the clip from the Daily Show, it's pretty clear that Bush doesn't seem to think things through when pointing the finger at Kerry.

Welcome Bobbles! :wave2:

I see BOTH sides doing nasty things so I don't know why the Bush supporters keep infering that it's just people on this thread. The posters here seem nice to me.

Thanks Planogirl. Nice to be here.

I work with a few people who are just so absolutely paranoid and come out with statements like, "We need to get rid of all the Muslims" and the like. And they aren't talking about deportation!

There is no use trying to discuss anything with them because it is "all Clinton's fault". When confronted with things like pictures of Rumsfeld shaking Saddam Hussein's hand, they say that was a different time or some other comment to simply brush it aside.

I think a lot of them may be on some form of hormone therapy like testosterone replacement therapy (TRT). Spooky bunch. Not all Bush supporters are this extreme.

It will be better by Christmas I hope.

Goodmorning!

Our guests arrived last night..we are hosting campaign workers this weekend. They are awesome people!
I went to a Kerry/Edwards campaign volunteer meeting yesterday afternoon, as I am a poll checker on election day ( I saw on a post above me that someone else is assigned that duty as well!!)

There will be plenty of people ready to assist and / or report any "voting issues". We have lawyers on standby in case needed, just a quick phone call away. We were told that no one wants that kind of trouble, on either side, so I am hoping that there wont be any.

After my poll checker duty, I will be out working "visability". We were also told that 1 in 3 voters decides who to vote for on the way to the polls, so we need to be out there.

Something that most people can do is just be out and about showing that they support Kerry/Edwards. Hold a sign and hang out with folks that know Kerry is the right man, at the right time for the job as President of the United States.
That being said....I look forward to
President John Kerry and Vice President John Edwards

My prayers are with Chris, Justin, and others who are serving in Iraq. I pray that God will bring them home safely.

Thanks to all of you who are volunteering to be poll checkers. I've done some volunteer work in Missouri, and I just found out my husband doesn't have to work Tues. so I may volunteer or have him volunteer since he's a lawyer. A volunteer friend of mine went to the campaign headquarters Saturday to pass out literature and they had 10 times the number of volunteers than they expected. They also have more volunteers than they need on Tuesday.

Here is a link to voter rights information. It has links to specific battleground states:

Bobbles--Welcome!! I'm so glad to hear you are a Kerry supporter. You will find a lot of healthy discussion on this thread, and it's easy to ignore the few gnats who are trying to stir up trouble.

Crazyforgoofy and ThAnswr: Sending good vibes to your love ones.

Maray: Welcome to our little Kerry spa ;) and thanks for the post. I think you should start a thread with it for everyone on the DIS to read.

Bobbles: Welcome!! I think that the Bush supporters will respect the decision of the majority of the American people. Like everyone, they have the right to choose to do it or not, and I think that people that love our nation so much (as it’s clearly visible even if we don’t agree with them) will do what’s best for the country when the time comes for them to make that choice.

Bubie2.5--From your lips to God's ears. I really hope that the Bush supporters would support a new president but I'm not as optimistic. Recent history points to a hard fight ahead, but I do think that John Kerry can handle it. After 12 years of Republican power with Reagan and George Bush the First, there were Washington insiders who just couldn't fathom having Bill Clinton in office. Some of the powers that be (and wealthy supporters) went to great extremes to investigate Whitewater, etc. They were willing to do anything to get him out of office. Then you had the 2000 election decided by the Supreme Court even though Al Gore won the popular vote and very well could have had more people intend to vote for him in Florida. Remember, butterfly ballots and hanging chads?? If Tuesday's election is as close as people say, I expect more challenges this time. Hopefully whoever receives the most votes will win.

Bush Supporter jumping in here...:wave2: I know that I for one will support whomever is elected on Tuesday. I will be disappointed if Kerry wins but if he does he will indeed by MY President. I think the majority of "Bushies" feel this way. In the "real" world anyway... here online people can hide behind their keyboard and spew whatever trash they like basically anonymously.

Hope this wasn't an intrusion- Happy Halloween everyone!

Hi Mermaid!! The same goes for me if Bush wins. I'm not saying that I will agree with everything he does and I probably will protest and make my opinion known more that once, but in the end the he will be my President and I figure that I better help him and the country the best way I know how.

Thanks for the kind reply! If Kerry wins- maybe he will surprise me! In the end we are all Americans and a Presidents term is 4 years..... not a lifetime appointment. I feel rather badly that it's neighbor vs. neighbor like this.... it's like 2000 all over again.

Mermaid--Thanks for your thoughtfully worded post. It wasn't an intrusion at all. I, too, will support Bush if he's elected though I will voice my opinion when I think he's made a mistake as well as when he did a good job. He think Bush handled the situation perfectly in the days after Sept. 11th. As much as I liked Al Gore, I don't know if he would have been as comforting to the American people.

I hope you are right that most Bushies will be supportive of a new president. Maybe I'm being too cyncial, but when I read some of the insulting and biting posts of people who are anti-Kerry it brings Rush Limbaugh to mind, and I don't think he would ever support Kerry.

You're right about Limbaugh- but that's how he makes his living. I'm not sure he even believes most of what he says... but it's good for business! Ya know what I mean?

I haven't read these kinds of words in this thread previously, I've been saddened and very concerned about several posters saying very much the opposite. At some point our country needs to come together. Thank you for your post of hope.

I agree. I will support whoever wins the election. I may not agree with the decisions, but I would still respect the Commander and Chief of the country.

I've found much more tollerance and acceptance of the other side winning the presidency on the Bush thread. I have not seen any posts even close to kerry posts that say:

In the unlikely event Bush gets re-elected, I will never support him. I think he is nothing short of an unmitigated disaster for this country. His conduct of this war, and the events leading up to this war, did not merit his re-election (?), but his impeachment and removal from office.

As an American citizen, the Constitution guarantees us the right to be the loyal opposition and I plan to take full advantage of that right if Bush should be re-elected.

Three points here:

1) I have never recognized Bush as My President. He was not elected to office. I abhor the phrase "Re-elect(ed).

2) Once he is out of office, I'd like to see him charged for the crimes he has committed against his country and the world.

3) There is now no doubt in my mind that Kerry is going to win. I can really feel it, especially after today. How about you guys?

Excellent. This kind of sanity is very refreshing.

Good for you and your commitment to the cause!

The comment about 1 in 3 voters deciding on their way to the polls is a sobering thought. Our whole family will be out and about for the cause, and I hope we find lots of other Kerry people out that day, too.

I think you all will find people on both sides of the fence that won't support who wins. I have seen some pretty nasty, hateful posts in the BS thread.

I will support Bush as long as he does good for the country. If he does things that turn this country in the wrong direction, I can not sit quietly and watch him do that and say I support him.
