For Grandma's: What's your "name"?

My mom is Mom Mom and my dad was Pop Pop (first name). DH's mother is Grandmom and his father is Pop Pop (first name). When my oldest dd got married I told her from the start that when she had a baby I would not be Granny, Grammy or Grandma. Now that she has two someone my name got stuck as Me Mom. I'll take that over granny anyday! DH is Pop Pop (first name). We don't get very creative with the grandfather names!

Not a parent yet either, but we had a nice talk about this as a family recently :goodvibes

-My Mom will be Nana. I had a Grandma and a Granny; My Mom had Nanny, so they were out of the question.
- My Dad will be Grampa
- My step-mom will be Babushka (she's Russian)
- My in-laws will be Oma and Opa (they're German)

We just haven't figured out my step-father. He said he didn't want to be a grandparent that soon :rotfl2:

My blood grandparents were all grandpa and grandma. My adopted grandparents are Grandma Oatie and Grandpa Harold (no, I am not adopted I just grew up with these 2 and have always been my adopted grandparents).

My niece and nephew, 2 next month, call my mom and dad Bapaw. We have no idea where they got that from but we think it is cute and hope it sticks when they get older.

My name is Lisa and my DH calls me "Li Li" (Lee Lee) sometimes. How does that sound for a grandma?

OP here - well I decided against Li Li when I remembered that my middle DS couldn't pronounce his "L"s and they came out as "W"s, so with my luck I'd be called "Wee Wee" :lmao:

I had it narrowed down to Grammy, MiMi or Mama Li, but none of those still felt just "right". Then my boss told me his children call his mom "Granna" and I loved it!

So for right now, it's Granna (unless it gets changed by the child, of course!)

My ex-mother in law is called Mimi by the kids other than that the kids call al ther grandparents grandma, grandpa or papaw. My one grandmother is Granny.

One of my daycare childre calls his grandfather Papoo. I think that is SOOOO cute! He always wants to know WHERE his "Papoo" IS! LOL!

my grandma has always been called nanny my grandfather started out as goompop and wound up being called pop

I wanted to be called Grandmom since my mom is 'Mom Mom' to my kids but they had different ideas and I got 'Mom Mom' and my mom turned into 'Nannie'.

When my oldest grandson was little, he used to refer to my dd's dmil as 'Nothermommom'. ("Not Mom Mom Denise, Nothermommom")

She used to sign all his cards that way. It was cute.

My Mom's Mom was Mam to all of us grands except my Mom's sister's kids. They called her Bunkin...???
My Mom is Grandma (last name)
His Mom is Grandma (last name)

I want a cool name too, but guess whatever they call me will be ok.

I have an "adopted" grandson who calls me Gamma Caffy. I love it

My kids call my Mom - Ammie, My Step Mom-Grandma and my x mother in law - Oma

I called my mother's parents Nana and Papa (later on this changed to Pete; long story) and I call my father's parents Grandma and Grandpa.

My Nana has always been Nana, to all of her grandchildren. Pete was supposed to be Ompa (that side of my family is Ukrainian, not German, so I don't know why), but the first grandchild ended up saying Papa instead, so that's how it worked out. I refer to my Nana's mother as Great Nana (she was gone long before I was born, but she lived with my mom growing up, so she's kind of like another Nana to me, even though I never knew her). My mom's sister is now a Nana as well (it's so weird to refer to her as Nana when talking to Nicholas). If I ever have any children, my mom will be a Nana as well. I don't know about my dad. Papa has negative connotations for me, but he isn't a Grandpa either. Maybe he'll be an Ompa; he's already an "Unka" as all of my cousins call him "Unka Dave". That has nothing to do with heritage, and everything to do with the fact that we don't annunciate.

I was the first grandchild on my dad's side, and I've always called that set of grandparents Grandma and Grandpa. I don't know why, and I don't know who decided that. When my dad's first sister had kids, they used Grandma and Poppy. When the second sister had kids, they used Nanny and Poppy. Somehow my grandmother manages to keep this straight and signs cards with the "correct" names. My grandfather's parents were both still alive and functional when I was born, and I called them Great-Grandma and Great-Grandpa. My grandmother's mother was known as Grandma Cline (by everyone in the family, not just grandchildren).

My grandchildren call me Gramma and DH Poppy. If the children are feeling real lovey they will call me Grammy. Believe me when I tell you it will not matter what those precious little ones call you as long as they call you.

My dd refers to my mom as Nana, my stepmom as Grandma, and my MIL as Mamaw (I hated that one at first but that is what she goes by with her other grandchildren so that's what my dd calls her too and I've gotten used to it for the most part now).

I have a Grandma and a Mamama (though she passed away this summer). Mamama was actually supposed to be Grandmama but I couldn't say that and said Mamama and it stuck. I enjoyed having a Mamama as no other kids had one and it was unique and special to me.

No kids even here, but we called my Dad's parents Gramma and Grandpa, called my Mom's Dad Poppy, and my Mom's Mom is Granny.

My cousins kids called Gramma, Grandma Fry, and my aunt and uncle are called Grandma Joanne and Grandpa Bill.

My girls call my mother Mam. She says that when we are out somewhere other people will think they are so polite when they call her "Mam (Ma'am)" :rotfl2:

Their other grandmother is Nana.

My grandmother was always Grandmommy.

The other was Granny Caroline.

And my Great-Grandmother was Nannie.

We're Nana and Papa :) The first grandbaby almost saddled me with Baba, but she's switched to Nana which I like :teeth:
