Unfortunately for me, I had booked with TCD and found out along with thousands of others that our holidays are now not going to happen.

My holiday wasn't until next year so I haven't got it as bad as others, but what upset me the most was that I had got a free upgrade to a deluxe hotel and full free dining plan. I never get anything free so I was really excited... hmmmm thought it was too good to be true.

Any way, because I could not face telling my 2 girls that they would not be going on holiday, I have spent the day searching for a replacement. And as if by magic I got some ixiedust: from Disney!
I have ended up getting near enough the same holiday (just minus the hire car but with ME instead) direct from the Disneyworld website for £800 cheaper I was going to be staying at OKW and have got POFQ instead, but with the upgraded dining plan, so don't think there is an awful lot of difference in the accomodation... but what a saving!!!!!!
It also includes flights with Virgin Atlantic which I believe are better than TCD flights???

So I have had a silver lining and ended up better off (well I will be once I get my deposit money back from ATOL) I hope some of you here in the same position will be able to re-book and possibly save some money???

And to all of you who were due to travel soon, I really feel for you. I hope you manage to get something sorted

Hi Traci, well done.

If you still wanted a car you could. We used ME this year but booked a car through Alamo to collect at the WDW dolphin - it was so easy. Just before the end of our holiday we dropped it off there with the valet and enjoyed the last 2 days of our holiday before getting the ME back to the airport.

I was affected by the XL affair. I wasn't due to go until Feb 09 so had time to get things sorted.
Managed to get virtually the same holiday with First choice (who's in branch customer service was second to none). We got Virgin trans flights (excellent long haul service IMO), a Luxury villa and we arrive in FLA earlier AND we're getting 16 nights instead of 14 for only an extra £430
I urge anyone else affected to book something NOW as everything is going fast....good luck
