How long did it take to arrive? We're not going for months yet, but I don't want to wait until it's too late. The last time I ordered one, it took about 3 weeks. Is that about right?

TIA!

I remeber mine took a very short time! I was surprised. It expired Oct 31st and I was leaving Nov. 1st. I didn't order the new one until Mid Oct. and it came in time for me to leave.

I just got mine yesterday, and think I ordered it right after Christmas. We're not leaving until 2/27 so I have 2 more billing cycles of points before I leave. I didn't want to take a chance of forgetting to order it, or order it to have it on backorder. It's sitting in my drawer with the kids Disney dollars they got for Christmas!

DDE is the disney dining experience ( discount) card for Florida residents, 01sweetpea.

If you don't receive it before your trip, you can always call and they will fax you a letter stating that you are a member, etc. That happened to me, and I had no problems using the letter they sent.:D

Thanks for the fax info perdidobay! The last time I ordered it was in late 2001 for our March 2002 trip, and I wasn't sure if the timeline was about the same. I'll order it in June and still have plenty of time for it to sit in my jewelry box before we leave!

What does this card do and what do you have to do to get it? My grandmother lives in Flordia. Is this something that I can have her get and use it myself?

Your grandmother can get one, but you cannot use it.
She would have to be the one to use it and you have to show your florida ID along with the card. The discount is good for up to 6 people.
Info on DDE here....http://allearsnet.com/din/dde.htm

She will be there with us so that works out great

I ordered ours last week on the 7th and it arrived on the 13th, also, the expiration date was post dated to January 31, so they tell you three weeks and also extend the card out to about three weeks.

For those that are seasoned users of the card, do you show them the card upfront while ordering, or do you give it to them with the check?

Thanks

We have been using this card for years now and feel it is definitely a good deal, especially if you dine at the more expensive, fine dining Disney restaurants.

When we first had the card, we forgot to use it a few times! DOH!
Now, we take the card out as soon as we are seated.

We have also learned to let the server know we will be using the card, although it doesn't usually save time when settling the bill.
The only complaint I have about the card is that the server must get a manager to ok the card.
This sometimes takes quite a while, once it took 15 minutes in Spoodles.
Also, while the card is also good for drinks in certain bars and lounges, it takes SO LONG to get a manager to ok the card, it just isn't worth the trouble.
For instance, we spend a lot of time in the Belle Vue Lounge at The Boardwalk. The manager comes from somewhere else, maybe Spoodles.
The poor bartender is supposed to call for the manager each and everytime someone uses the card and the poor guest has to wait 15 - 20 minutes to settle their bill. We have seen quite a few unhappy customers experience this. We don't use the card there anymore. Same thing at ESPN.
I have emailed DDE about this but never heard back, I think I'll try again.
The card IS great for sit down, fine dining but they need a better system for "okaying" the card.

You'd think they'd be able to bar code it and tie that to their computer system so it can just be swiped to verify the discount.

Is requiring the manager's approval new. I had one about two years ago and I never had much of wait and used it and quite a few of the pool bars. I am thinking of getting another one for an upcoming vacation but I would be finished with my drinks and require another one by the time they got back.
