This upcoming December will be my first trip this time of year. I of course had trouble getting in the first 2 weeks so we settled on Dec14-18. ( short trip) Being so close to Christmas , I vowed to have shopping etc. done Before we go. HOWEVER..... I'm sure there is some shopping to be done while at WDW!!!

My question is. for those of you who go this time of year.... do you leave some of your Christmas shopping for WDW?? I'm nervous about doing this... I'm not sure of everything available this time of year and we haven't been to downtown Disney for a couple of years. I'm particularly interested in the new bath shop. ( Basin??)

Just interested in anyones thoughts.

Thanks

Just back from WDW and I cannot rave enough about the Basin store. Great selection of bath bombs, soaps, shampoos, etc. I dropped about $100 there. The bath bombs were wonderful in the big jacuzzi tub at BWV. Also, DVC members get a 10% discount. Enjoy your trip and don't forget to stop at Basin.

I discovered Basin right after it first opened and have stopped in once during every trip to WDW. I love their soaps, very whimisical, and perfect for a guest bathroom. I also love their body butter and the bestest stuff is the salt scrub. It is heavenly. It makes a wonderful gift, but is a bit heavy in the suitcase if you purchase more than a couple.

The last 2 years I did alot of shopping at Epcot on our Candlelight Processional Day, you got 15% off with the package. They supposidly eliminated that this year, so I may head to Downtown Disney for the 10% off (annual pass). I'm hoping they change their minds on the CP Package, last year they said in advance no discount and they ended up having it.

Hi,

Where is Basin??? Sounds like my kind of store!!!!

Basin is near the Ghirardelli Chocolate shop at DTD. The shop is wonderful. If you buy several bath bombs they have a neat cardboard container to pack them into and it's perfect for shipping. Next time I think I will go there first thing and pick up some spa goodies for my DVC stay.

Throughout WDW you will find special Holiday items to purchase. So, leave a few spots empty on your Christmas list to fill when you get to WDW. DTD is perfect for this since you can get ornaments, clothing, toys and other small items.

I prefer Bath & Body Works over Basin. There is a B&BW at Crossroads near Goodings.

I haven't left any necessary shopping for WDW. However, I have planned to bring along a little extra money just for any last minute items. However, if I don't happen to run across anything for a particular person, I'll have everything planned to be wrapped already at home.

I am flying in Dec 10. My first stop on Dec. 11 is DD and BASIN! I love their shampoo bars. I plan on a few of those for hostess gifts. I am going to also grab a bunch of bath bombs too! The sugar scrub is awesome. I am flying down with an empty duffle that I am sure will be full with last minute "must have" gifts.

I put our tree up yesterday. The monorail, GF, HM, Dumbo and Astro Orbiter went assembled and running under the tree. All I really have left to do is get the cards sent out and pack for our trip!

We're going down the 7th through the 12th and since we are driving and won't arrive until probably after noon or 1 on Sunday we are planning on Sunday being a relaxing/shopping day. I have bought gifts for my dad and GF so far and am hoping to get the rest of my shopping done at DTD or at the parks. We also want to check out the Disney outlet stores in Orlando. See y'all there!

I like the Eucalyptus Spearmint stuff at B&BW...kind of addicted to it, actually - It's a "manly" fragrance that does not offend my olfactory sense. I have a negative physical reaction most fragrances (allergy?). The Basin seems like a nice store, I just can't get near it because the intense rush of fragrance overwhelms me . I'm like that in candle shops, too.

Last year, I had not planned on doing any Christmas shopping at WDW because I have to get these things back on the airplane.

That said, I found a perfect Mickey Mouse tea pot for my nephew's wife. I know she adores Mickey Mouse stuff, and they were moving into their own home. I already had my collapseable ( sp ) extra piece of luggage with me, anyway.
I put the tea pot in the center ( in its box ) and then put all my dirty clothes around the box to cushion the tea pot.

It worked out fine, and she loved the tea pot. If I can find it again, I hope to buy the same tea pot for myself in a couple of weeks.

We have been 3 times early to mid Dec. Most anything that can be found at other times of the year can be found this time of year also. We have bought some Christmas gifts in WDW. Lots an lots of choices. Have fun!!
