FOP and Navi both down all day. FP+ Wasted

So maybe I could have then selected a third?
Yes, you could have selected FP#3 and kept the Bonus Anytimes in case the rides did come back up.

Disney needs to add a better description for the Bonus Anytimes - and you should have received a better Anytime for NRJ than what you were given.

It’s been reported that AK will allow non-park Hopper guests comped entry to use their Anytime to ride FoP if the ride is functioning. Some of your group may want to try that.

Hope you have a better day and do email Disney about this disappointing experience.

COMPLETELY appreciate your disappointment. But ...

Fine print covers Disney, and I think the "Anytime FP+" (which is a really good compensation) you get would be their only true obligation.

They don't owe you a ticket or anything of major value ... rides go down and we all risk that every time we book a trip. I can see the hopper issue being resolved for those who don't have it.

But I do have a question @hiroMYhero .... I don't know because I've never experienced a ride down for the remainder of the day where it was an issue .... is the "Anytime FP+" usable past the day you received it? In this case where they stayed down all day, and Na'vi is still down today ... would that FP+ be good today or tomorrow or did it expire last night. That would impact whether I was in line to complain, along with the hopper.

What Disney did do wrong was creating another "Yeti" situation. The Yeti was an engineering mistake creating an issue by two things sharing .......... now you have 2 major attractions in the same building. Who thought that was a good idea? Who didn't understand regulations on safety enough to know you shouldn't do that? What would it take to put a gap and firewalls between the two? Another engineering mistake.

It depends on which Anytime Disney issues.

The OP had booked some group members for FoP and some for NRJ. Only FoP was described as being good for yesterday and today. With Navi down all day yesterday and again today, a Guest Relations CM could issue another Anytime but that would require a GR visit.

So each time we receive one of these, the email should define the time it is good for?

That stinks OP. It has a ripple effect. All those folks who now can't ride those two rides make all the other rides more crowded, so even people who are not interested in those rides deal with the issue.

There have been lots of breakdowns lately it seems. On our last trip, rides were down left and right. We had to forfeit FP's a couple of times, were walked off rides etc. It's a bummer when like you said, you plan and plan and plan. I know Disney can't really do anything and breakdowns happen, but it's still disappointing. It's just so crowded now that one or two breakdowns throw a monkey wrench in to the best of plans.

Yes. It’s sent to email and the FP area of MDX.

I’m surprised you’ve never had one. We’ve received one for 7D (weather) and also for FEA (technical).

No we have gotten, although not in awhile, but we’ve usually just waited in hopes it comes up like 7DMT or use elsewhere. I’ve never paid too much attention to the wording to know the usage rules. This situation with FoP yesterday had me wondering.

Yesterday both rides were down all day. After our FP+ windows passed, we received emails that the FOP ones had changed to multiple experience ones good for FOP if it reopens or anything else usable yesterday or today. The Navi ones expired yesterday good for Navi or anything other than FOP.
Since I booked them at 60+7 days ahead I didn’t want to waste them on anything else in case the rides did reopen yesterday.
But of course they did not.
And we have no time for another AK day today if FOP is even open.

So upon leaving the park, there was a crazy long line snaking around outside guest relations. The cast member outside couldn’t say how long it would be. But a gentleman standing nearby spoke up and pointed out his wife who was somewhere in the middle and said she had been there for an hour already. With 2 little kids in tow, we decided to pass.

My questions are :
how long did people wait to be served there?
what resolutions did they get?
Was it worth the wait?
Any experiences would be appreciated.

So we missed out this trip and everyone was disappointed.
I would love to know how to better deal with it if it happens again.
We were there for Spring Break. Had FP for FOP. Made it all the way and about to do ride when there was an Emergency and everyone was evacuated. Some fire sensor went off. From our understanding this has happened many times. They were able to get it up and running and said, as far as FP goes, will honor them. So when it reopened, we just told them we had FP from earlier, they scanned us and let us in.

i didn't realize they were in the same building. that is kinda wonky but i would assume thee is a firewall between the 2 rides cause to soundproof them from each other the wall that is created most likely would be fire rated if built to true sound proofed specs. at least in home construction it would also be firerated and deff have a gap.

so the anytime fastpass which is my question . . . do you need to book a ride or do you just walk up to the line of a ride in the list?

When I have written an email in the past Disney will usually offer you 2 anytime fast passes per day for 2 or three days for your next trip. These are not valid on Frozen or FOP... in you case maybe they will give you ones valid for FOP -- or it possible be that they are in fact valid for that and they tell you they are not as you have the option of just telling guest relations what you want or just having them anytime either way you must stop by guest relations.... previously when we were given these we had to call and they added it to MDE for all days of the trip and there were supposedly no restrictions. we only had this happen twice once was for resort issues like TV not working which they replaced and a few other issues which were addressed quickly... recently as I have them now with the restrictions I mention for a similar problem as you but in a standby line and the limitation of not being able to have FP in 2 parks as I was holding a FOP for that day which is why I was in a standby line to start and it was by no means a top ride nor one I would ever make FP (longer story)....

My FoP anytime FP was good through today for anything except Frozen and RoL.

We got evacuated off FoP about 10 days ago because of a problem in the second tier of the first theater. We got to ride immediately in the second theater and were also given the same anytime FP+s.

Previously, I’d only received one for anything at AL but I’d usually stop at GR on my way out to see if they could swap it over to another park I was headed to.

Anyway, I’m probably going to stear clear of making plans exclusively for FoP for a while. That’s three times in two months that I’ve planned a day around it.

I'm sorry you had to deal with that. I feel like part of the reason people are inclined to wait might be the stress of getting FPP for FOP (not necessarily Navi) in the first place.

What a serious bummer! Like you though, I would wonder why someone would wait for an hour in line to speak with guest services. It's bad enough that you can't ride but then to take up an hour that you could be doing something else to stand in line? I guess I don't understand what people were hoping for? There isn't much they can do if the rides are down. Were maybe some people arguing that they wouldn't have used a ticket to enter AK if they had known the two rides were down, they would have gone to another park instead, and were hoping to be able have the ticket reissued so they could do to another park? We love AK so while I would have been disappointed we think there are lots of other great things to do there.

To clarify, when the Multiple Experience/Anytime FP was issued as a “Bonus” FP, did you choose another FP by Modifying the FP you originally booked for FoP?

Most guests don’t realize the Anytime is a bonus and they can change out the FP for the downed ride and reschedule for another ride, then, continue booking FP#4 and so on.

Will you please explain this in more detail? I would appreciate it!

Update as the OP

I did come back to AK today and stopped at guest services on the way in. No line to speak of with only 1 person ahead of me.
The CM I spoke with added a FOP pass for the people who lost their Navi one.
So assuming FOP stays up today we will all get to ride.
Except of course the little ones who had Navi and are too small for FOP
