foods you used to love but can't find anymore

Your in luck they have just brought it back. Though they don't have the diet version, they have regular and coke zero versions.

Yep! just a few weeks ago on the resort board we were discussing how we missed not being able to buy it locally. And a few days later the market had 12pks in stock. :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

Carnation Breakfast Bars - They were so good. Coated in chocolate. I could eat a whole box at once.
Marathon Bar - There is an equivalent found in Cadbury, but I haven't tried it yet.
Fudgetown Cookies - Again, could eat a whole box at once.

Well, no joy at the Walgreens on the Cheez Curls, but there's another drugstore a ways from here that has a knack for stocking things no one else does, so I might stop by there tomorrow.

Also, I just contacted Campbells about the meatball alphabet soup. I really have a bee in my bonnet about this one!

Funnily enough, though, I googled "meatball alphabet" and there are TONS of people out there who also miss it, mentioning it in blogs and on other forums, so of course I made sure to mention that in my email. It probably won't matter, but you never know, right?

Not only did I see Frankenberry at my WalMart a while back, I also saw Boo Berry! I swore they stopped making that a long time ago.

I saw both of these at our local Weis grocery store last week. I can't remember if they had Count Chocula or not though.

...and I just saw Count Chocula at Walgreens! We've come full circle. Or something. ;)

I love this thread! When we used to live in California and we would visit relatives in Baltimore, they had this soda called Almond Smash, I think made by Suburban. It was red and had a cherry/almond taste. I loved that stuff.

I miss Fizzies. You used to add a tablet or two to a glass of water and it made soda.

The Vermont Country Store catalog (someone posted a link somewhere in this thread) has these. One of my sisters just gave some to another sister. Someone in my family used to put them in puddles to watch them fizz, instead of into water to drink--I think it was one of these 2 sisters.

Another part of the gift from sister to sister, was something they called "Milk Straws." I don't remember them, but they said that you drink milk through the straw and it changes the flavor to chocolate or strawberry.

I also miss Burger King's Yumbo. I've even tried to copy it over the years, but nothing I try ever tastes as good.

Thanks. That's good to know. I'll be on the lookout for it again!!:thumbsup2

Some of mine are:

Sour cream and onion doritos
Marathon bars
Hires root beer
Quisp cereal
the original jell-o pudding pops
and I know there are more but I can't think of anymore right now

B-B-Q shoe string potatoes

Mars Almond Bars
Ozark B-B-Q potato chips

I just thought of another one,Chocodiles.I think they were made by Hostess back in the 80's.The line from the commercial went"It takes a while to eat a Chocodile"I loved these:cloud9:

Ripple Crisp cereal
Planters Cheez Curls and Cheez Balls
Lemon Jolly Ranchers!

My local grocery store (a Harris Teeter) has Nutter Butter Creme Patties and Green Goddess Salad Dressing in stock all the time.

You know what I haven't seen in awhile? Corn Nuts. I don't know if they stopped making them or if I just don't ever see them around here. My friends and I were obsessed with them back in 6th grade - especially the ranch flavor.

Also, I know they're still made, but I find it odd that I can only ever find Combos in gas stations - never in a regular grocery store. Makes them the perfect road trip snack, though.

From my childhood:

Danish Go-Rounds (like pop tarts but shaped different)
Chipsters
King Vitamin
Birdseye Frozen Chocolate pudding (it came in a brown tub and you had to deforst it)

And a local favorite - Grunning's Hot Fudge - sooooo delicious!!

I remember the frozen pudding--we used to buy it and it was really good. It didn't taste exactly like pudding because it had a creamier and richer texture and taste.

Does anyone remember Drake's Cream Cups? They came out the same time as Ring-Dings. Only they were two cupcakes covered with a darker chocolate and filled with cream? They were so good.

Coca-Cola with real sugar can be had at Passover time. Just look for the bottles marked Kosher for Passover. I stock up and they generally last me about 6 months.

They had a article not too long ago about how Coca-Cola makes soda for it's Mexican market with a different type of sugar (or maybe it's the original formula). They said to go to a Mexican market and buy your soda there.

Does anyone know what I'm talking about? I wasn't paying too close attention to what they were saying because I drink nothing but diet drinks.

Many Old Time candies can also be found at: http://www.hometownfavorites.com/shop/candy_store.asp

I think Banquet made them--the pouch meals, they had veal parmegian, turkey w/gravy,salisbury steak plus some others. They were in the freezer section and you just opened the box and tossed it into either the microwave or a pot of water.
I love those Boil-in-Bag meals. As soon as I get a freezer, I'm going to vacuum seal my own Boil-in-Bag meals. I hate nuking foods. :cool1:

Bugles-hard to find but still around
Rite Aid has them on sale all the time. Also some dollar stores carry them.

-Cheese Waffies: These were a kind of snack in the chips aisle. They were teeny waffle-shaped sandwich things with super-salty electric orange filling. Completely artificial, but my brother and I could finish off the bag in one sitting! :scared:
I found them! I miss them too. They can be bought at the same hometown favorites store, posted above. Cheese Waffies

-Choco-lite bars: This was a chocolate bar that had tiny bubbles in it. They still make them in England, but they're called "Aero" over there. Yum!
I love these too.

Green Goddess salad dressing. I have a taco salad recipe that uses this, and the salad is definately no good without it.

They were giving out samples of salad today with Green Goddess salad dressing at Trader Joes. It's with the bottled dressings.
