foods you used to love but can't find anymore

Hey...does anyone remember Strawberry Shortcake cereal?? We lived off of that as kids!!

Vacationing in Amsterdam, I became addicted to fries with garlic sauce, and have never been able to replicate the sauce anywhere here in the US.

My fave missing food is Nutter Butter Creme Patties (not the peanut-shaped cookies; these looked like a little row of wafer raviolis filled with peanut butter). I hear that they are still made, but no shops seem to carry them; netgrocer is the only place I have seen them on the order form.[/QUO

Around here most stores still carry both kind.:)

Lemon Coolers - They were cookies that came in a green box. They might have been by Nabisco. I haven't seen them in years.

Ah now lemon coolers we still have here, but not at all stores. I think either Brunos or Winn Dixie carry them.:)

Mrs. Pauls Fish Cakes. Can't find them anymore on Long Island.

I'm not sure if anyone has mentioned this food yet or not but I miss Kellogg's Tiger Power cereal. It was marketed for kids and it had whole grain and was made with less sugar.

I even e-mailed the company. I haven't checked to see if it's come back yet, but I sure do miss that stuff. I used to eat a box of it a week.

I think something like that will be coming out soon. I did a survey on a whole grain less sugar Kellogs flake cereal a couple of weeks ago. They showed several names and slogans.

Lemon Coolers cookies. They were made in the South by some Southern company who's name I can't remember. They had bits of lemony pieces inside and were covered with powdered sugar. I loved those things.

Pepperidge Farm cherry turnovers. They were in the frozen foods section and you baked them. I can only find the apple ones now.

I miss Fizzies. You used to add a tablet or two to a glass of water and it made soda.

I also miss a frozen pasta side dish that Green Giant made. It had carrots, corn and spinach in a cream sauce with radiatorre pasta. My kids loved that.

Green Goddess salad dressing. I have a taco salad recipe that uses this, and the salad is definately no good without it.
Have you checked Walmart for it? I know we don't have it in our's last time I checked but I found it at the Walmart near my MIL's in TN so it is still around.

I miss them too.
Pop Qwiz popcorn-it was individually sized microwave popcorn that came in crazy colors.

DW and I used to love those Great Starts scrambled eggs and sausage breakfasts. They were absolutely awful for you, but sooo good. When they re-branded them (to Aunt Jemima?) they reformulated them, and they're not as good any more.

I miss original Coca-Cola with real sugar in it. I'm not big on soda pop, and only drink diet when I do drink it, but every once in a while I get a hankering for real Coca-Cola. The corn sweetener stuff just isn't the same at all.

And I really miss the Quaker oat cereal that was 100% oat clusters. It was delicious!

Coca-Cola with real sugar can be had at Passover time. Just look for the bottles marked Kosher for Passover. I stock up and they generally last me about 6 months.

Not only did I see Frankenberry at my WalMart a while back, I also saw Boo Berry! I swore they stopped making that a long time ago.

Really?

I really want some right now. Last time I ate the stuff I was pregnant with my now 14 yo and the doctor made me retake my diabetes test on a different day because my sugar level was so high (my appointment was right after breakfast and I had 3 bowls).

WOW!!!! Do you think that would be located down here in the deep south during that time? What about during Hanukkah??

I think the Mexican variety of Coke has real sugar. It often comes in the old-fashioned glass bottles and you can get it at your local Mexican grocery, if you are lucky enough to have one around.

Don't know if anyone remembers this but I remember drinking Rondo pop when I was a kid. It was really good too.

I also miss the ORIGINAL Starburst flavorites with LIME, Lemon, Orange and Strawberry. Lime was my favorite out of all of them. I wish they would bring back the lime.

Tootsie Pop Drops

Pudding Pies. I found them at the store months ago and was so excited. I brought one but they were VERY different from back in the 80s! It didn't have the chocolate coating like the originals did. It tasted so different, I won't be buying one of them again.

Can't remember the brand name but frozen donuts. They were glazed donuts and I would beg my mother to get some. She didn't get them all the time but when she did they tasted so good ;)

The original Peanut Butter Twix. It was just like a regular Twix but peanut butter instead of caramel. I have seen the PB Max Twix which is PB with a chocolate cookie. I did try one of those, they were actually pretty good. Not the original but not bad either.

I don't remember the brand but I remember my mother used to get this big cheese french bread pizza. It was so good as an afternoon snack. Years ago they stopped making them and I haven't found anything close since!

Oh and I am still mad they changed the formula in Alphabits!!!!! I LOVED Alphabits as a kid, ate them all the time. Picked up a box months back and it tasted like cardboard!!!!!! I am not kidding! They were gross!!

Nope. Not Hannukah. Hannukah does not have additional dietary restrictions. Corn Syrup is not Kosher for Passover only. Where in the Deep South are you? There are Jews Everywhere! :cool2:

For me it's Screamin Yellow Zonkers...a buttery toffee sugared popcorn. It came/comes? in a black and yellow box. I haven't seen it for ages:hippie:

I see it at the Dollar store sometimes - check there:thumbsup2

The Donuts were Mortons. They had glazed and also jelly with granulated sugar.

The last "specialty" limited edition bag of Starbursts I bought had the Lime ones. I think it was tropical mix or caribbean. They are also in their "Baja California" mix. I have a bag of those right now! WalMart stocks them.

Patio Orange and red pop. It was carried in Pepsi machines in the 70's. Yummy, sugary goodness in a 10 ounce bottle!

I can't believe I forgot this one; I even mentioned it in another thread about Cheetos recently. I miss Planters Cheez Curls and Cheez Balls (but mainly the Curls). They're SO much cheesier and just...BETTER than Cheetos are! I wish I knew why they quit making 'em. I didn't even know they had, because I hadn't really wanted them in a few years, but I found out when I went to the store and they were nowhere to be found. :sad2:
