foods you used to love but can't find anymore

Hamburger Helper PIZZA bake...occasionally you'll still see the Taco Bake, but it's the Pizza bake I yearn for. :guilty:

#1 favorite that disappeared - the Stove Top stuffing dinner boxes. They were first, they were best, they disappeared. Campbell's just isn't as good. :(

Brach's gummy bears. Find lots of gummies, but rarely the Brach's ones (and they're the bestest.)

Frosted Krispies. I'm too lazy to add my own sugar. :)

Better Cheddars, flat baked tortilla chips (I don't like the scoops), Wild for Mild Ole El Passo salsa. Also, I loved Space Food Sticks when I was a little girl and they're not made any more. Of course I might not like them if I tried them again.

Oh, and Ice Cube chocolates. They're hard to find, but I do see them every once in a while. YUM!
I see Better Cheddars all the time at my grocery store

Marathon candy bars. I've heard there's a similar candy bar sold in Epcot and I'm bound and determined to get one next visit.
They were my very favorite candy bar

American cheese with bits of pepperoni in it. My mom used to get it for us every once in awhile (from the deli). I still keep an eye out just in case they decide to bring it back.
We buy a cheese similar to that at the local deli...it's called salami cheese....the little bits in it are salami not pepperoni

Bugles-hard to find but still around

Frozen doughnuts
I see Bugles a lot & Kroger carries frozen doughnuts

Green Goddess salad dressing. I have a taco salad recipe that uses this, and the salad is definately no good without it.
I see green goddess a lot too

Another part of the gift from sister to sister, was something they called "Milk Straws." I don't remember them, but they said that you drink milk through the straw and it changes the flavor to chocolate or strawberry.
Walgreens has straws like this in multiple flavors.....chocolate, strawberry & I think vanilla

You know what I haven't seen in awhile? Corn Nuts. I don't know if they stopped making them or if I just don't ever see them around here. My friends and I were obsessed with them back in 6th grade - especially the ranch flavor.

Also, I know they're still made, but I find it odd that I can only ever find Combos in gas stations - never in a regular grocery store. Makes them the perfect road trip snack, though.
Walmart has combos............I just bought corn nuts a few weeks ago, it might have been at the dollar tree

They had a article not too long ago about how Coca-Cola makes soda for it's Mexican market with a different type of sugar (or maybe it's the original formula). They said to go to a Mexican market and buy your soda there.

Does anyone know what I'm talking about? I wasn't paying too close attention to what they were saying because I drink nothing but diet drinks.

Yep...Coke made with real cane sugar (as opposed to HFCS) can be found in Mexico and also in many Mexican grocery stores here in the states. Actually, I just saw piles and piles of it at Costco a couple of days ago, too! It is also found here at Central Markets (a high-end HEB) and sometimes at Whole Foods.

I remember as a kid there being mac & cheese that all you did was add HOT WATER to, stir and wait 3 mins. It was very simular to they way the ramon cups are today.

I also miss franco american canned mac and cheese.

Wasn't that called Mug O Lunch or something like that?

Remember Vellamints?
I also just realized the other day that they don't make the Crispy M&Ms anymore.
DW Lauri used to love a gum called Cinnaburst but we can't find that anymore either.

Nope. Not Hannukah. Hannukah does not have additional dietary restrictions. Corn Syrup is not Kosher for Passover only. Where in the Deep South are you? There are Jews Everywhere! :cool2:

LOL!! I know Jews are everywhere but we just don't have a huge population of Jews down here!!! The grocery stores only have a very small selection of Kosher food (probably 4 or five shelves that are maybe 2 feet long and Publix probably has the most...everyone else has less than that). There are enough that they have a Synagogue here but the last time I saw something in the paper there were less than 75 members.
I am just not sure I have seen the Coke products but then again since I am not really looking I could have missed it...I am usually gagging at the jellied fish in the jar!! (Sorry...not trying to be disrespectful but......yuck)

The Vermont Country Store catalog (someone posted a link somewhere in this thread) has these. One of my sisters just gave some to another sister. Someone in my family used to put them in puddles to watch them fizz, instead of into water to drink--I think it was one of these 2 sisters.

Another part of the gift from sister to sister, was something they called "Milk Straws." I don't remember them, but they said that you drink milk through the straw and it changes the flavor to chocolate or strawberry.

I also miss Burger King's Yumbo. I've even tried to copy it over the years, but nothing I try ever tastes as good.

I just saw those Milk Straws at the Dollar Tree the other day!

Okay, so how many of you had commercial jingles you haven't heard in years suddenly pop in your head as you read this thread? Great, can't remember what I had for lunch yesterday but I'm singing the Better Cheddars jingle. :rotfl:

Here is a list of discontinued foods that might spark some memories - http://www.hometownfavorites.com/shop/btwgb.asp

Considering some of the "foods" people have mentioned in this thread, I think the fish is more on the normal side. ;)

Actually, the stuff from the jars sucks-I prefer the frozen loaves and last year I actually made homemade gefilte fish. It was great!

I know!!!! I almost wrote the same thing!! Some of the missed favorites have me gagging!

Someone mentioned old jingles.....

Sometimes I get the FRITO BANDITO jingle stuck in my head and I have to sing it all day!!!

I also miss franco american canned mac and cheese.

I was going to say that--the elbow mac and cheese, not the long noodles though. We used to eat that stuff by the caseload. I saw something similar in the store but it wasn't nearly as good.

FINALLY......I Finally got a TAG FAIRY GIVEN TAG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

THANK YOU TAG FAIRY!!!!!!!!!!!!:cool1: :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

IyEEEE IyEEEE IyEEEE IyEEEE
I am the Frito Bandito
I Love Fritos Corn chips
I Love them I do
I Love Fritos Corn chips
I Steal Them from you !
(Especially for you !)"

I remember something else that I can't find anymore low-fat entamins donuts. They had a pack of 3 different chocolate styles that were great. They had them during the early 90's during the "Stop the Instanity" low fat craze.

Wasn't that called Mug O Lunch or something like that?

Yes!! I believe that was the name of it.

Another thing I thought of.. You still see Hershey's Krackel bars in the miniature mix, but can you get that in a full sized candy bar anymore?
