Food & Wine and Flower & Garden--same thing? Into moonshine?

First, I'd like to say that the "wine" part of Epcot's Food & Wine festival is a bit of a misnomer. Those alcohol kiosks offer much more than wine. Should the festival name be changed to "Food & Alcohol"? How about "Food & Spirits"? Maybe "Food & Libations"? Any thoughts?

So, I went to Epcot's Flower & Garden festival this past Saturday and, much to my surprise, alcohol kiosks were still there, just like during Food & Wine. In fact, in the Port of Entry store at Showcase Plaza I saw bottles of, get this, moonshine for sale. To what demographic is Epcot now catering? Moonshine? Who made that decision?

Finally, in that same store I watched a cooking demonstration (Fire Dusted Tilapia), which is something I would expect to see at Food & Wine, not Flower & Garden.

So, do you think that the lines have been blurred between the two festivals? Should there be just one whose name is Epcot's Food & Wine & Flower & Garden Festival? Maybe guests year round would enjoy sipping moonshine while watching a demonstration on growing garden herbs. And the topiaries could be both food and character related. Any thoughts?

These festivals are really fun. Each has their unique special events. It's OK with me if some things are similar. I love the food and drink options!

Alcohol is offered at Epcot all the time, not just during the festivals. There's just a lot more to choose from then.

"wine" is probably a misnomer, but it sounds more refined than the other options. :)

I wouldn't mind some moonshine while down there. ;) It's just grain alcohol. Mixes well with just about anything.

I'm assuming they were sampling Ole Smoky Moonshine which has gotten pretty popular lately, is delicious, and is sold at our Costco in So Cal. This is not grain alcohol made in some old miners bathtub. They have "exclusive" flavors in some locations and just came out with a Harley Davidson edition. Harleys are NOT cheap and their fans will buy anything with their name on it, no matter the cost. Seems like easy money.

Commercially produced moonshine is currently in vogue for cocktails. Not sure who you think the "unsavory demographic" for moonshine might be.

Food and beverage offerings at Flower and Garden are not nearly as extensive as those offered for Food and Wine. But Disney likes the $ pouring in so who knows. Maybe there will be a Midsummer Festival too. Frozen Midsummer Festival perhaps.

Bite your tongue!!! :-)

I think they are totally different. The countries that are represented at F&W are not there for F&G, there a loads of wine seminars and tastings at F&W while at F&G the seminars are garden related. I would miss both if they were somehow combined. By the way, I'm from Georgia so I'm probably that demographic you are talking about but I've never tasted, nor want to, moonshine.

In regards to the bolded above (bolded by me), I was thinking the exact same thing. I'm planning our next trip for March 2016 during F&G.

I'm kind of glad the offerings aren't as extensive as F&W. I love F&W, but it overwhelmed me a bit. I had trouble trying everything, even with multiple days at Epcot.

This is what I'm running into for our trip this fall. Too many kiosks, not enough time (or stomach space).

Yes, exactly. Moonshine is the cool new drink for sipping on the rocks and as a base alcohol in cocktails...that said, it's not MOONSHINE, MOONSHINE...it's more like vodka. Most have fun flavors like Apple pie, etc.
