Food, SQUIRREL, and When We Are Old...A March 2012 TR

LOVE LOVE LOVE the Movie Nights!!!:love:

I wonder if I can talk my friends into coming over for one of those???
(They are in there 20's like me... and they all have kids who could do the activities hmmmmm ) :idea:

Great Trip Report BTW!

So I am finally caught up.:woohoo: Goodness I can't get that far behind again, it was crazy trying to catch up to everyones TR. I still have tons of pages to catch up on D's TR.:scared1:

First of all thank you for the shout out to me and my family just after my brothers passing. It's been difficult and it really helps knowing that I have good friends looking out for me.:hug:

You really did get the most photo bombed picture of the bunch. And there I was with closed eyes.:sad2: Well at least it has some great stories behind it.

We will all definatly try to get to the world at the same time in the future and do something earlier. Sitting by the pool drinking margaritas sounds good to me, you?:cloud9:

Ok, after seeing the pics of the resteraunt at France I might just have to do some rearanging so that I can eat there as well. Everything looks so yummy. And yes, I will definalty have to try some of the French Onion Soup. That was one of my brothers favorite things to eat.:goodvibes

Wait as second, you ended up going to DHS on Saturday morning and didn't let me know.:scared1: I was there all day and we could have totally gotten together again. Maybe taken a ride on TSM or ST together.:sad1: Oh well I guess we will just have to do it another time.:confused3

I am loving you Disney Nights. I did Disney Fun Nights with my kids before our trip in 2009 because I wanted the kids to get excited about our first trip to the World but decided not to do it last year when just Liam was going. Since there is a strong possibility that Liam might be going with his Dad when I take Mia I am thinking that I might have to start them again. With over 11 months until our next trip I better start a list of what movies to do soon. (also have to find out what movies I have) I can't wait.:banana::banana:

ooooh!! your Mulan night looked so perfect :) and your tea set is gorgeous!! That's great that you were finally able to use it. I would use it lots if I had it but then again I am a tea addict.

Thanks! Now, don't get me wrong, in those cold winter months I am a tea drinker too...just usually out of a mug rather than a dainty little Japanese tea set! :lmao: I was glad we finally got to use it too, and the kids knew how special that was. They really enjoyed it.

Movie night looked like so much fun !! You're so creative .. great job.

Thanks! Our movie nights have been so much fun for both the kids and the adults! :laughing: I am a bit creative...I can take other folks' ideas and elaborate and tweak them to fit our family. :thumbsup2

Oh you should totally do it! When I was a single lady with no kids (back in the dino ages :rotfl:) my friends and I used to have fun dinner parties and stuff too..do it and tell me all about it! popcorn::

Sadly, I have stopped trying to follow D~'s TR completely... I just hit the updates when she does them. I don't try to track all her followers' comments, she is just TOO POPULAR! :rotfl2:

I am so glad you are doing a little better. I have no doubt those times of grief and sadness still come at times, but I am glad to see you back into the swing of life. :hug:

Yes, my Dismeet picture is quite a site to behold! :laughing:

I am not a margarita girl...but poolside with a daquari or some other equally alcoholic fruity beverage and a group of my Disfriends? I'm there! :banana:

I cannot recommend Chefs de France enough, it was delicous! Maybe you and Mia will have better luck than us and actually get to see Chef Remy while you are there! :wizard:

I had no idea we were at DHS on the same day! Did you get there for the 7 am EMH??? We must do better next time, friend! :rolleyes:

I cannot wait to read about your Disney fun nights and see pictures. When are you doing your first one? Check out this thread for lots of great ideas:

:welcome: Glad you have joined us! Don't worry, at the pace I am going you will have PLENTY of time to catch up...

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Speaking of catching up... is it Tuesday yet??? :confused3 Oh right, it's Thursday! I had no idea when I made that promise that all heck would break loose at work this week. :sad2: I apologize for the delay, folks. So where were we in our adventures??? Aye, we were headed out to a Pirate Cruise...
DAY 4, MARCH 11, 2012, cont.'d
We boarded our sailing vessels. Everyone was given assigned seating on the boat (our family had to split up between two benches across from each other). And of course I had to get some shots of our family before we set sail:
Now, since I don't keep a trip journal I cannot for the life of me remember our captain's name. :guilty: He was a GREAT captain and cruise host. pirate: He sang pirate songs, asked pirate and Disney trivia, and played along with the kids. He introduced each family and told where we hailed from (using a cheat sheet he got from everyone's reservations). Here are some pictures of our captain in action (if you recognize him, feel free to share with us what his name is :thumbsup2):
DSCN2367.jpg
He took time during his "show" to take pictures with all the children on board:
DSCN2375.jpg
He asked pirate trivia questions for the kids and gave pirate prizes. Here are some individual shots of our captain with Jillian and Gabriel:
DSCN2379.jpg
And since I am a Disney dork, I mean fan...I won the Disney trivia contest for the adults. Here is my royal dorkiness wearing my prize:
DSCN2376.jpg
We stopped in the Seven Seas lagoon to watch the water pageant before the fireworks. It was so neat because the pageant floated by us, not 50 ft from our boat. Brian took pictures, but the lights just didn't show up well. We have only a point and shoot camera, so it just couldn't do the pageant justice. :sad1:
Watching the fireworks from the boat was amazing. They piped in the audio from it. I tried to man the camera, but like I have said before...I am NOT a good photographer. Brian video'ed the entire show. It was such a special moment that we will always cherish.
The trip back to the Contemporary was rushed since there would be a surprise at the end...
Charity had not won anything during the pirate trivia, so when we got off the boat the Captain loaded her up with lots of pirate booty...no picture because there was someone special waiting on the dock to guide us "home"...
I am so glad I spent my Christmas money to book this cruise. It was the highlight of our trip. It is something we will probably never get to do again, but we will always remember it as one of our best Disney adventures. I cannot recommend this excursion enough for anyone that may be considering it. There are a lot of "extras" that you can pay for at Disney, and this one was worth every bit of what we payed for it! :cloud9: It was truly magical... pixiedust:
Wow. I want to do the cruise SO bad. It looks so wonderful and like so much fun for adults and kids alike. WOW. I just know that it won't fall into our budget anytime soon. So I'll just live vicariously through people like you! :love:
I love that your captain was so amazing and took time to spend with the kids and loaded up your DD with goodies!!!! :cloud9:
Awww... This makes me so sad.... I was wondering where all my friends went? Maybe I'll just have to start another TR under an alias, that way you all can keep up?
Loved the update - it looks like you all had so much fun!!! Loved the pictures too - Oopsi, you make a spectacular pirate! :wizard:
ooooohhh! The pirate cruise looked like so much fun!!!
YEARS ago we sent DD on one of the pirate cruises they had back then just for kids and she had a good time but this looks like a great time for the whole family :thumbsup2
That cruise looks like so much fun.
I have already posted my first DMFN (as you know) but admite that I wasn't completly happy with it. I felt as if I didn't get everything done that I wanted to . I just posted about the one we did tonight and I am much happier with it.
Thank you for telling me about that thread, though I admite that I did find it back in 2009. I actually posted on it once and only once. I found it when I was trying find ideas for my Beauty and the Beast night. I was looking at all the ideas and there it was. I actually stole some of my old ideas.:lmao:
Yea I was totally at DHS that day. That was the morning I saw D and the girls in the morning waiting for there Tusker House breakfast. I didn't get there at 7, I got there more like around 7:30. Hmm a strawberry daquari with some good friends sitting around a pool (hopefully by then weighing a lot less), sounds good to me.
Well, if you remember from my PTR, the faculty members where I work took up a collection and gave me $200 for Christmas last year. That is what payed for our cruise. We usually don't spend the extra cash for those things either. It was quite a treat and I was SO EXCITED to be able to do it for my family. Maybe someday an extra $200 will come your way and you can do it too! :goodvibes
I am still there, D~! I try to put in comments from time to time too. You are loved- just bask in your greatness! :rotfl:
I am so glad to have found SOMEONE who appreciates my dorkiness! pirate: :rotfl2:
I think they still do have the cruises just for kids, but this was so much fun! I am so glad we did it. :goodvibes
Your B&B movie night turned out fantastic. How funny that you looked up your old ideas and used them. I will have to remember that for future reference! :scratchin
I wonder how many times on DHS day that we crossed each others' paths and didn't even realize it! We must do better next time!
It was delicious. ::yes::
I mean ... I didn't eat it. Nope, not me.
:littleangel:
:rotfl2::lmao::rotfl: That really did make me LAUGH!!! All that was missing was this wierd emoticon... :duck: I always wondered what in the world it could be used for...now I know!
DAY 4, MARCH 11, 2012 cont.'d...TAKE 2
Yes, I had this update almost finished, and then all of a sudden it was GONE...Liddy was obviously very hungry yesterday. :sad2: Anywho, I was just too frustrated yesterday to give it another go, so here I am today...let's see how it goes! popcorn::
We left the Contemporary on the monorail after spending a little time with Peter Pan on the docks. We had a great cruise, now we were itching to get on with the night and hit the Magic Kingdom again. As you may or may not remember, we had quite a must do list still left to do:
Jungle Cruise
Snow White
Peter Pan
Space Mountain
People Mover
Buzz Lightyear
Tomorrowland Speedway
It was almost 11pm and we had until 3 am. Would we get it all done? Would Gabe be reunited with his long lost sheriff's badge? Well, come along on the adventure and let's see!
So we get off the monorail and head into the gates of MK...when all of a sudden, out of nowhere BAM! What did we get hit with? The second MSEP of the night! :eek: Crowds! Packed! We had already shoved our way through the MSEP crowds earlier in the evening, now here they were again...blocking our way to accomplishing our must do list. :headache: What is wrong with these people? :confused3 Well, if you can't beat 'em join 'em right? So that is what we did...we just decided to chill out and watch the parade. the kids were glad, they really do enjoy it and wanted to see it, so it all worked out. :thumbsup2
After the parade was over, we FINALLY headed into the park...straight to Fantasyland! :banana: What did we do first?
DSCN2383.jpg
Jillian tried her darndest to pull that Sword from that Stone...she was not successfull, so Gabe gave it his best effort (big, strapping boy that he is):
DSCN2384.jpg
It wouldn't budge, so it was Charity's turn to give that thing a giant tug:
DSCN2385.jpg
...or maybe she would just stand and look oh so pretty for the picture. princess: :rolleyes1
After giving it "the old college try" we moved on, for there were many things to do and people to see on this pleasant evening in the Magic Kingdom. We headed straight over to Peter Pan's flight. The wait was about 30 minutes, but Gabe really wanted to do this, so we just kicked out of gear and went with it. I honestly could not remember going on this ride before. I know it is a classic, so I am sure I did, but I guess as a teenager I just never thought it was worth my precious time (said tongue in cheek). We enjoyed it and Gabe LOVED it. After Peter Pan we went straight over to Snow White. Like every other good little Diser I just had to go on this ride "one more time before it closes." Let's just say, this one will not be missed. It was such a cheesy little ride. I am SO glad, however, that the new Fantasyland expansion will still have a ride devoted to this, Walt's first feature length animated film. I look forward to taking a ride on the Mine Train when we visit again next year! :goodvibes
We had already been on the Teacups and none of us were interested in the Pooh ride (sorry if I offend anyone with that statement), so we rounded the corner and went on the Tomorrowland Speedway. This was always an exciting ride for me when I was little, because I could "drive". Charity and Gabe loved it as they both got to drive this time. There were other things we wanted to do in Tomorrowland, but for whatever reason my notes say we went to Adventureland after this. :confused3
Let me now begin a diatribe...the Jungle Cruise is ALWAYS, ALWAYS on my must do list for Magic Kingdom~ JC and IASW. We could have gone on JC earlier in the day, but I knew it would be open for EMH and I had never been on it at night time, so I told the fam I wanted us to wait to go on it. So, I was VERY excited as we headed over to Adventureland, I was finally going to get to do JC at night. :cool1: As we got closer I noticed that that area of the park was awfully dark. :confused3 We got over there and the ropes were up. WHAT? :eek: The Jungle Cruise was closed! :scared1: Brian checked the app on his phone to confirm that it WAS on the list of rides that would be open for EMH, and indeed it was. But alas, it was not open and there were no CM's near it to even ask why not. :sad1: So, not only would I not get to see JC at night, I would not get to go on JC at all this trip. :sad:
What would I do to console myself? I looked across the way...and lights shone down from heaven as a choir of angels sang :littleangel:...ALOHA ISLE ...DOLE WHIP!!! This was on my must try list for this trip, what better way to bandage my hurting Dis-heart? Brian and I each got a Dole Whip, the kids had other treats in mind for later. What did we think of it? Did it live up to all the hype? To answer these questions I must give a resounding YES! We :love: it! It just hit the spot and tingled our taste buds! :cloud9:
Where to next? We are in Adventureland...so we made a beeline for POC! We had promised Gabe we would ride it again, and we also wanted to check on that elusive Sheriff's badge...
Nothing, Liddy. You NEVER do ANYTHING wrong...you sweet little innocent Diser! :flower3:
Whew, I feel like I need to say 20 Hail Mary's after making THAT statement! :rolleyes1
I hope that didn't take you all day. :goodvibes I wouldn't want to take up most of your day. :lmao::rotfl2:
Wow ... I can't believe you encountered yet, another crowd for MSEP. :lmao: I think the Disney-gods were trying to tell you something. ::yes:: I love MSEP, but DH doesn't like having to sit and wait forever. So I don't push the issue.
Oddly, we searched for the Sword in the Stone and never could find it in March. We knew where it was, but we walked all around the carrousel and never saw it. It must have been using an invisibility cloak or something ... I honestly thought maybe they took it out for the refurb (or permanently). I wanted to get pictures with it again this year (last time we played with it was 2009) ... so I was a bit sad it was "gone". (Guess it's a good thing it wasn't a snake, huh?)
I've never seen PP with a wait of less than 60 minutes ... so we've only rode once, and that was back in 2009. We don't care much for the Pooh ride either. We did it in 2009 and haven't bothered going back. I really wanted to do SWSA, but the wait was always horrendous ... so I missed out. I have only ridden it once back in 2009. :guilty: I thought the Mine Train wasn't scheduled until 2015? :confused3 I must really be off my Disney-game to not find SitS and to think Mine Train is that far off. :lmao::rotfl2: Maybe I should go back more often. ::yes::
I can't believe JC was closed! Did you ever find out why? I wonder if the ride was malfunctioning or something ... surely there was a good reason to list it as EMH and not have it opened ... I would have been livid, as it's our #1 must do at MK (followed by Monsters Inc). So were you hoping to ride the Congo Connie? Eh? *nudge nudge* Eh? *nudge*
Yes, I'm horrid. You're welcome. :p
I'm glad you enjoyed the DW. You're welcome to eat my share every time you visit. We didn't like them at all. :rolleyes: Don't get me wrong, we'd totally have one to cool off, but we'd prefer to just get a Mickey bar instead.
Anxious to hear if the badge turns up!
Oh how I wish I could have finished all those Hail Marys in just a day....:sad2:
Yes, the Disney gods really felt that we should take the time to enjoy the MSEP. I really do like that parade...but here is confession time: I listen to Dis radio quite a bit at work and they like to play that soundtrack a LOT and well, I was BURNT OUT on it before we got to Disney. :lmao: Guess I need to limit my Dis radio right before we go back next time! :thumbsup2
I totally think they took the Sword and the Stone put them away when they heard you were coming...Just sayin'. :rolleyes1
You are probably correct on the Mine Train not being open yet in 2013. In my mind, the new FL will be all finished and waiting for me when I go back... just leave me to my fantasies, okay! pixiedust:
We never found out why JC was closed. :sad1: Of course they should have opened the velvet rope and had a red carpet leading to MY cruise boat when I arrived. What was wrong with them? :confused3
I am happy to eat your portion of DW! ::yes:: Does your DH like it? DD? DS? Kouga? Akki? I would be more then willing to eat their portion as well...:rolleyes1
The badge? What badge? :confused3 Hmmmm...oh THAT badge... wonder if it DOES show up? popcorn::
No Jungle Cruise ?? :sad: NOT cool. :mad:
Yes, did they not know Congo Connie herself was making an appearance that night? They totally should have had it ready for my arrival! :headache:
