Food - Portion Size?

I have been noticing lately that when we go out to eat, I am not able to eat as much as before. Are there any restaurants at Disney that cater to smaller portions? At home, we usually take left overs home (if there is enough) but can't seen that being done if staying in the parks for a few more hours. I'm thinking not but it would be nice.

Tkanks!

I can't eat big meals/much at one sitting myself. I don't like the "stuffed" feeling either.

CS - many times I will get a kids' meal - especially if I plan/want some ice cream or dessert after/not long after the meal.

TS - Appetizer and soup.......or one of them with a salad? Portions are shrinking which means many times not a problem. Many times DH and shared or sampled each others meals. My DH might finish off something also. That is not an option now.

It's possible to purchase childrens meals? Just at the counter service or in Disney restaurants? Tks.

I’ve read that the Disney owned restaurants are good about letting adults order from the kids’ menu, although it may be a larger portion at a higher price, as well as allowing two people to split an order. I’m getting to the point of ordering a salad as an appetizer and an appetizer as my entree - some of the appetizers sound more appealing than the entrees!

If we don’t split an entrée, we do 2-3 apps, and you are right; some of them are amazingly good!

I’m in the court of kids meals or appetizers as meals. Even do this locally. Order two apps to come with everyone else’s meal, and take the portion size I want out of the apps and share the rest.

If possible, sharing one entree is a good idea. I'm not able to eat Disney portions either and I'm not a senior. So I usually share something with either my spouse or whichever family member/friend is traveling with me.

Doesn't work at fixed price meal locations, though.

Once upon a time (like 25+ years ago), Disney offered half-portions of meals. You'd get a half serving for half price plus $1. I can't remember if they had kids meals back then or not, but this worked perfectly for DD, who has always been an adventurous eater, and has never met a chicken nugget that she liked! That would work for me, too, in my post-bariatric surgery lifestyle- to say nothing about my geriatric status!

For me, it's not just the portion size, but the ingredients. I have lots of food intolerances and therefore, I eat very little in the parks. Those days are gone forever but I do save a lot of money and time that way....however, if it ever gets to where I can't eat beignets...well, just shoot me 🤣

I tend to order a few apps in TS but if we are doing CS i order the kids meals plenty of choices at most of the parks. I can never eat a whole meal in TS in the parks and we will not take back with us, so it just works out.

We just share an entree. And have a snack later. Win win.

We usually share an appetizer, entree, and a dessert at most TS restaurants. At CS its a lot easier to just order what we feel like eating.

If the restaurant has any specific item that we both really want, we each get it, then either eliminate the other courses, or if we happen to feel hungry enough, we try to time those restaurants in the “linner” (lunch/dinner lol) time frame. :mickeybar:drinking1

DH usually orders a salad, I order a main and we share off each other's plate. I'm gluten free and his taste has been pretty much destroyed by cancer treatment so sometimes he just doesn't want what I'm having because it doesn't taste good to him. When that happens we just suck it up and get what we want. I hate the food waste though.

He's not an 'all day' guy though and sometimes we do 'linner' and he's ready to head back to the RV afterwards so he'll take any leftovers with him and stick them in the fridge.

I'd love it if they offered half-size meals!
