Food Network's "Chopped All-stars"!

:lmao: I told my DH at the end of the show "really? Dirty fingernails, dripping sweat & the judges concern is that the arugula doesn't taste good with the chiplote dressing :confused3"

Oh, & what about Chef Michael saying he wanted " to win so bad he would kill a litter of puppies" :scared1:

I can't believe he said that either!

I turned to my DH and said, "He can only get away with that because he's so cute, and no one could think he was serious!"

I loved Chopped and I was really looking forward to this show. I have to say, I was disappointed last night when the "All-Stars" were contestants from the NFNS. There's plenty of true All-Star cooks that I would have rather seen compete.

I am really looking forward to next week's line-up though! Go Anne!

We DVRed it Sunday night, but after reading everyone's comments here, and seeing who the participants were, I deleted it. Not interested in seeing those people compete. I'm hopeful for future episodes! popcorn::

Second round tonight!!!

Go Chef Robert :cool1:

I kindof figured that was how the 2nd episode was going to go. But I was still rooting for Robert. Anne is a little too cocky for me, although I won't be surprised if she does win it all. And the difference between the quality of the competition as opposed to "regular" episodes of Chopped....even the judges kept commenting about that, wow is right!

I, too, enjoyed Chopped last night. I was rooting for Robert, but Anne, obviously, knows her stuff. I think she has a good chance of winning the whole thing. I thought it was a great episode.

I agree with you all ... I was rooting for Robert but MAN what a competition! It's amazing the difference between that and the regular episodes. Usually I would hate to be a judge on that show but last night I think I might have enjoyed it - if I could get past the canned haggis! :rotfl:

Loving Chopped All Stars!!

I was hoping that Robert won last night, but he didn't put enough Fennel in the dish otherwise I think he would have had it.

Can't wait for next week!

Count me as another Robert fan; there's just something about Anne that rubs me the wrong way.

And I'm getting annoyed in a way with the judges. I agree that fennel was probably Robert's downfall (if not the jelly beans), but the rules don't require that they showcase the ingredients in the basket, just that they use them. As little or as much as they want. If the ingredients should be showcased, then they should change the rules.

The level of competition was amazing - I feel sorry for poor Michael. If Robert lost after using a wooden spoon to stuff a venison, Michael should just give up now!

What a great episode! It was amazing to see how much they were able to accomplish in such a short time. However, I don't think I would ever eat canned haggis regardless of who cooked it!

I enjoyed the episode but I wonder if the "quality" is being a bit overstated? I mean, if you look at the bios of some of those Food Network chefs (like Ann Burrell), most of them have never run their own restaurants. Plenty of the regular contestants do.

Last night's episode was pretty great. Really enjoyed the whole show. :thumbsup2

Personally, I can't wait to see what Jacques Torres does on Chopped All Stars.

That made me want to punch him. I never liked him anyway, and that cemented my view.

I really dislike Anne. I think she's horrid.

And.... in last weeks' epi with the TNFNS contestants, Brad made the comment that he wasn't required to showcase the ingredients, just use them... and whatshisname (Mark?) told him that was just lazy cooking. Blah.

Speaking of TNFNS, the new issue of Food Network Magazine mentions Amy Finley's book... apparently all the speculation that she moved to France to patch up her marriage was pretty spot-on.

I didn't even know that there was such a thing as canned hagis....hagis is supposedly only good if made freshly, so canned stuff must be horrendous!!!

Count me in as a another person that was hoping Robert would win. I am loving All Stars. I can't wait to see the next one.

Ok, what did you all think of tonight's episode? I am a huge fan of Amanda but I didn't think she would make it to the final round. I'm so proud of Aron! He cooks with such emotion.
Now...who's going to take it all?

You know what really bothers me about Anne? Well, there's more than one thing but I wish the words "i'm going to go ahead" would be cut out of her vocabulary!! Those words are just soooooooo overused on her show.

Also, I got annoyed when I saw her do the same thing she busted one of the worst cooks for doing--tasting from a spoon then putting same spoon back in the dish. Ewwwwwwwwwwww!
