For anyone who has traveled with small children (2 and 8 months) did you find that you really needed a refrigerator in your room and some food? I am planning on getting a fridge and stopping at the store for some items (pb&J-my DS's favorite and of course some baby items). I'd love to hear of anyone's experience and what worked best for them. Thanks!

MUST HAVE!!! I cannot imagine trying to keep a sink filled with ice or a cooler of ice in my room. I need milk & juice for the kids, sometimes fruit, lunch meat or cheese, drinks for dh & I (water, beer, soda). Heck, I need a full size fridge!!!

We asked the GF front desk for a refrigerator and they were so nice to give us a nice size one that was able to hold a good bit of stuff. They also provided us with a microwave too, both at no extra cost. We were able to heat up all my DD's food, especially those Gerber toddler meals in the bowls. I just packed those with us since they don't break!!! I also was able to get a gallon of milk from the hotel, instead of buying a bunch of the pint size ones, which would have cost a lot more. When in doubt, just ask, and usually the resorts can grant your request!!! We also would go to the 24 hour grill at the GF and get silverware and plates for the kids meals. It worked out wonderful. I also brought from home those disposable sippy cups from the First Years and disposable bibs so I didn't have to wash a thing!!! Hope these tips help!:wave2:

7 & 9, but I still take food and drinks. It's not like buying this stuff there will break me but I figure, it's cheaper at home and I usually have it anyway............. We save a bundle by bringing our own Dasani, it's like 2.50 a bottle in the parks!  Sodas are a lot cheaper to bring with you also. We have not had a fridge at a resort hotel yet, we stayed at the Swan when the girls were little, they had minibars, I took their stuff out so I could cool down DD's antibiotic. Nothing was ever said by housekeeping, I just made sure I put everything back. I even drank their drinks (they were cold) and replaced them with cans that I had bought at a Boardwalk store. One thing to definitely bring from home is diapers and formula! With the antibiotic we were going through Pampers at record speed, DH refused to drive to Goodings, I paid something like $6 for a dozen diapers. The ready to feed formula cans that you pop the top and pour into your bottles (Single Serving) were something like $2 each too!. I still remember checking in at the Swan with a 2 year old and a 10 month old. Diapers, snacks, formula, double stroller, Tote bags, you name it. The bellman said, 28 pieces of luggage??  I siad, it's not all luggage, he said, the way we see it, it is!:teeth: :teeth:

Thanks for sealing the deal for me. I will definetly stock up. I have already requested a fridge in the room as well as a coffee maker. We are renting a private shuttle service (not sure which one yet) and we will have a grocery stop. Luckily I am nursing and don't need formula but Diapers are a must and I am glad for the grocery stop so I don't have to pack a few mega packs of them! I will also pick up a few things such as water as well. I'm not cheap but 2.50 for water as much as I drink it would certainly end up in triple digits! Thanks again for all the help!

Can't wait to see my babies meet Mickey!!!!!

Definitely stock up on the diapers. The price I quoted for them was from 1998, no telling how much they are now! Plus, not every store has them, you might actually have to travel to anotehr shop for them. The water is also a big deal. Capri sun's too, nothing like that available at the parks. Have fun !

Having the fridge definately makes it easier when you have a baby who needs milk in the morning. It is so much easier just to grab a milk from the fridge than to have to go to the food court to buy one.

We always have a light breakfast in our room before our early start to the Parks. We keep snacks, water and Parmalat milk handy, along with other sundries.

This saves oodles of rupees for Mrs. Ambassador to spend on souvenirs and spa-time.

Yeah...go for it... a fridge is great for the young ones and to save leftovers for yourself

Bring diapers with you! I didn't want to take up the room in my suitcase so I bought them when I got there & they only came in bulk so I ended up bringing tons back with me taking up more space then they would have if I brought them from home!!

We can't live with out a refrigerator, thank God DVC means we get one (and more) every trip. It saves you I figure at least $200 each trip on snacks, water, drinks and breakfest, and makes life so much easier.

We bring diapers with us, that way I have some extra room in the luggage for souvenirs on the way home.

We also bring a small soft cooler bag to the parks and hand it off the stroller, it is great to have cool drink and snacks when ever you want them and not have to wait in line. Freeze water and juice boxs and they stay cold and keep the rest of the food cold.

Grapes and cheese sticks are great easy fast snacks at the parks.

In the event your resort cannot provide a fridge and/or microwave for you (as in our case), A Baby's Best Friend (www.abbf.com) will deliver to your resort. Their prices are very reasonable and we were so happy we decided to get them. What a great convenience in the room!

HTH!
