food in room will this work?

I understand where you are coming from, with the possible fire hazzard, and smell..... I was just trying to discourage under cooked food in a microwave, or food poisoning from the chicken. Just kind of thru the idea out there...

Thanks! :thumbsup2

No, I totally agree. I am actually anti-microwave myself, so I love these ideas and thoughts. And a Disney trip is no time to remove all the nutrients from your food (which is exactly what the microwave does, but that's another thread for another board, LOL). And the uncooked food thing is just gross. Too bad you couldn't give your Crock Pot to the front desk and have them keep it somewhere safe for you.

Not sure if this helps but Mimi's near Hojo has family meals for $25 for take-out...
Thanks for this info. I had no idea!

Hey, fellow Zonie!

If you guys like the breakfast croissant sandwiches (sausage, egg and cheese on a croissant, Costco carries them in a box 12 for under $10. They are frozen and individually wrapped. They do travel well. You can store them in the fridge too since you will eat them during the week, they would be fine. They heat up quickly in the microwave. You could eat them walking to the gate in the morning!
Some have mentioned placing a Vons order. I don't know exactly when you are leaving, but I would suggest finding the closest one to Disneyland, then pull up their grocery sale ad online to see what is on sale there. Our Safeway card here in AZ is good at Vons in CA (Just like our Frys cards are good at Ralphs in CA). This way, you can see if they have a roasted chicken, or fried chicken on sale that is made there daily. They also make great sandwiches in their deli. You can get fresh fruit, etc that you want or need.
What ever you do, I know you will have a good time!

Hello Jade, Trip planning again How wonderful.

Have you entertained the idea of using the Nalleys complete meals that are microwaveable. There is Beef stew, meat with mashed potatoes and gravey, chicken noodle, there are about 8 more to pick from. Velveeta's Mac and cheese in a microwaveable bowl is very good. ( I do not eat it but husband says it is pretty darn good.)

I like to take frozen sausage links use a few then place the rest in refrig for use later. Boil a 12 pack of eggs -do not peel-- and with a muffin or bagel the sausage and boiled egg and there is a balanced breakfast.

I like to eat "cheap" for a few meals then splurge on average of 1 meals for day at one of the Table service restaurats at DL /CA.

I must say I am thrilled with the new offerings Disney has made RE: Counter service meals.

Last i saw you were driving to DL. This is going to let you bring a "good " Ice chest. The cheap throw away ones I get for keeping pops and such cold do not seem to be very effcient.

I would take a shopping trip and make of list of ideas for microwaveable meals/ and easy to fix quick meals you can prepare in room.

One thought is to also bring good cleaning and storing of left over food storage supplies. I the think the guests before us ( We stayed in a room across from DL) ate and prepared lots of food in room. We had weird looking worms/bugs in the beds, in the ac units, near the tables and windows. It was so bad I am not sure I can ever book a room there again. This could have happened by leaving just a granola bar wrapper with a few crumbs or from say the microwaveable mac and cheese bowls. This was not a low star rated room. It was and still is one of the highest and most sought after facilities.

Have a great time planning.

ty so much yes i found one those pre made miles for my son and am gona see what else they have at the store.
we shop on the way to the freeway. I have a list of all the wants and needs, needs first, wants come after needs Lol

Ty tho all good ideas and I read about the baby care center being good for water bottle refills I may use this more then I ever thought to save room and not buy 48 water bottles, maybe a 12 pack would work and just reuse
(my son is in a huge reuse recycle mood from school lol )

Do not know if this has been mentioned but you can get some great freeze dried meals that make up very quickly and trust me after eating MRE's and many other things you do not want to hear about, they really are very good.

There are entire websites devoted to hotel microwave cooking. Some recipe websites have sections on microwave cooking.

There are microwavable healthy options. And that can of chicken can go a long way too.

Spaghetti squash can be halved and microwaved. Just add marinara sauce.
Acorn squash - same thing. Add butter, cinnamon, brown sugar.
Sweet potatoes - add honey butter

Eggs can be microwaved in a baggie and into hot water. Add canned diced ham, cheese, onions into the baggie.
Velveeta doesn't need refrigeration.
Baked potatoes - add cheese, broccoli, canned chicken.
Enchiladas - tortillas, canned chicken, canned refried beans, cilantro, enchilada sauce, top with cheese and olives. Add a side of canned corn.
Chicken Casserole - Pre-cooked rice, can of cream of mushroom soup, can mixed veggies, canned chicken. Durkee onions. Add a side of rolls.

Eggoritos - tortillas, eggs, cheese, green onions, microwave sausage.
Burritos - a packet of Old El Paso burrito stuffers, can chicken, cilantro, onions, cheese.
Nachos - chips, cheese, canned beans, onions, guacamole, jar salsa, can chicken.
BBQ Pork Sandwiches - Container of Lloyd's BBQ Pork, buns.
Chili dogs - pour a can of chili on top, add onions and cheese.
You can even poach salmon in a microwave.

Some hotels have barbecues onsite.

I've seen a recipe somewhere for coffee mug meatloaf and coffee mug cake for one. :thumbsup2
