Do children have to order off of the children's menu or can they order smaller portions of something on the regular menus?
Thanks!

They can order whatever they'd like from either the children or adult's menu. :) And the same is true for adults -- they can order off the children's menu if they'd like!

DCL definitely aims to please with your dining options so feel free to order whatever you'd like, or if you don't like something, your server will be happy to bring you something else.

Enjoy! :)

Our kids are very adventurous eaters and before we even left on our last cruise (4/00) our DD(then 7) informed us that she didn't even want to see the kids' menu...she was going to order off the adult menu every night! Well on our first night she asked our server, Tommy, for an adult menu and from that point on he never brought her a child's menu. One day we ate lunch at Triton's and Tommy was there, but he wasn't serving us. He noticed us come in and came over to the table to tell our waiter that "The young lady would, of course, prefer to see the adult menu." It was very cute and absolutely made DD's day!

We are planning another cruise for this November and now both of the kids DD10 and DS7 are planning to order off the adult menu each evening. :)

All my kids wanted from the adult menu were the desserts! Actually, that's not totally true. My oldest - 10 - did order a few things from the adult menu. He liked the meat but recommended they serve the sauce on the side. One night he ordered the sweet and sour chicken, but it's not what usually gets from the chinese restaurant, and they brought him something from the kid menu too. I think it's a great way for kids to try a little something out of the ordinary but having old standbys to fall back on.

On one of the rare occasions when we had a family at our dinner table (they usually seat us with other adults), the kids were much more adventurous than the parents! There was one boy who used it as an opportunity to try some pretty exotic things! He didn't necessarily like eveything he ordered, but that is the beauty of a cruise...he could simply ask for something else. It was amusing to see what he would try each night...mom and dad pretty much stuck to meat and potatoes.

Both of my kids (12 and 10) ordered from the adult menu. What really cracked me up (and really puzzled ds) was that our server and head server offered to cut up his steak/veal for him several times! It's all part of the service!
