Food and Wine? Sounds Divine! An October TR - 12/2 A PTR Link!

Calvin seems really, really unsure about that Little Mermaid ride. :rotfl:

You don't have a list?! I thought every obsessed DIS-er had a list!

Looks like Calvin is not too sure about meeting Donald. But the Goofy ones look so cute!

Hope your DM felt better.

I think he liked Goofy a lot better than Donald...in fact, i'm pretty sure most people do, so he's a good judge of character already:thumbsup2:lmao:

Hi Mark! I think he was more unsure of why I was trying to take a picture in the dark:lmao:

Shoot, i'm not sure what happened to me that day! Very un-DISerlike:upsidedow

Happy 4th of July my friends! :yay: Hope you all have a safe and fun weekend with your friends and family:goodvibes

DH has a baseball tournament here in Paso Robles (About 30 minutes from the beach:thumbsup2) Thursday - Sunday, so we'll have a long weekend here. To celebrate the 4th, we'll be visiting a small coastal town, Cambria, and watching their fireworks from the beachpixiedust:

Figured I get an update in, in case I can't get around to it over the weekend. Enjoy!

***I left us off having done 2 M&G's with Donald and Goofy and riding the Little Mermaid, heading into Tomorrowland***

Buzz had no wait so why not!

Should I even be posting our pathetic scores?

And look at us, we look so determined that we were going to end up with high numbers :lmao:

DH thought I was cheating on this ride because I was in control of turning the vehicle. But he would yell, “Turn this way, turn that way! No the other way! You’re doing this on purpose!” So at one point I just started turning the car in one direction for a straight minute because I had no idea what he wanted me to do. He says I’m the reason his score was so low :rolleyes1

After our attempt at saving the Earth from Evil Emperor Zurg, we needed something to eat. Something small because we wanted to go over to Epcot for some booths. So we made our way out of Tomorrowland towards the hub and found a lonely PP photographer who seemed excited to take some pictures.

Too bad DH doesn’t wear Disney shirts. It would have been perfect if he had a Mickey shirt on. But I already had a conversation with DH at Target the other day while browsing the Mens section. They had a few Disney/Star Tours shirts and I pretty much laid down the law and said “You will be getting a new Disney shirt for our trip. I’m tired of that churro shirt.” “But I like churros!” :rotfl:

Kiss the cutie!

While we were at it, I suggested taking a photo in the rose garden right in front of the castle so I can compare pictures from our first trip to this trip. It will now be a ritual every trip

And in 2012 when he was 8 weeks

He really has gotten so big. It’s pretty scary how quickly time goes.

We really had no plans where to eat so we were just going to keep walking around when I saw another PP right near the statue in front of the castle and said let’s get more photos we’re on a roll. So there is only one family getting their pictures taken and another family in line. We stand in line right behind the family and it’s immediately there turn to go up, so we’re next in line. Well, a large family (they may or may not have been part of a Brazilian Tour Group:rolleyes:) was walking up and I had seen them because they were coming up from behind the family getting their pictures taken. As soon as that family was done, the leader of the group, I’m assuming the Father, started telling his group to get in front of the camera so they can take pics. He saw us waiting. I know he did because our eyes met. And I immediately reverted back to that woman back at DHS. Remember this woman (sorry Pam!)

I'm a very non-conforntational person but I just couldn’t hold back. I still remember what I said because usually I let it fester and boil inside

and my Mom came out..whoa.

“Nope, absolutely not!” as I started pushing DH in front of the family in front of the camera.. “We’re in line, you saw me waiting, now you can do the same.”

He knew. He knew because he said sorry with a thick accent and told his family that we’re going ahead of them. Needless to say I was proud of myself

And they were watching us the whole time :)

I’d like to think that I stood up for all those guests out there who always think “Man, I wish I would have said something.” Who knows how pushy this family was being during their trip and have done this to other families.

Afterwards DH was like, “I love you. You deserve something sweet.”

:hyper:

The first thing we spotted was Sleepy Hollow and checked their menu out

I decided to go with a Waffle with Strawberries. It took a while because they were making them fresh to order so I took some pictures while waiting

Their Halloween setup

A very empty area

10 minutes later I got this gorgeous specimen

Hot and so delicious. DH was able to snag a few bites too. While eating my waffle, DM had called and said she was ready and would be walking down to the MK. I told her to not come in but to meet us outside the turnstiles and we'll find her.

I bet it's hot out there in Paso Robles, oh yeah, it's hot where you live too!

Are you going to be doing any wine tasting while you're out there? That area is dangerous for me. I joined all the wine clubs the last time I passed through there. I cancelled all of them except Zaca Mesa, have fun!

Great update and PP pictures! You guys kicked my butt on Buzz, I didn't even score five digits! :lmao:

Isn't that funny how "that person" sometimes just comes out in us. You have wonder where that comes from, but good for you standing up for yourselves. I'm usually the one who just stands there and lets the pushy people go by.

Glad your mom was feeling better enough to go out for the day.

Your strawberry waffle looked yummy! My DH got the Nutella waffle & loved it, as did the kids!
That was great that you stood up for yourself. Same thing happened to me when I was in line at a cart in Adventureland getting those candied almonds. A man came into the long line right behind me. As we were edging up to the front he started standing next to me. When it was my turn he pushed his kid and himself right in front of me to order. The CM behind the counter didn't know who to serve first lol so I said to the man "we are all standing in this hot heat together and there's no way you're cutting me in line. Not a nice thing to show your son!" After I said that I ordered and that was that. People can be so rude!
Glad to hear your DM was feeling better too. Hope you guys enjoyed Epcot.

Good for you standing up to that man! That takes guts!!! I saw the scary face and quickly scrolled down

I'm glad DM started feeling better :) but now I'm worried about forshadowing about you.

That waffle sounds delicious!

Good for you for standing up to that man! I hate when stuff like that happens, but sometimes you just have to say something.

And the reward was Oh so sweet - that waffle looks amazing! Cynthia and I had the breakfast waffle there in May and it was A-MAZING!!!!!! Loved it!

Love your idea to take a picture in the Rose Garden every trip! Look how tiny Calvin was. OMG! So cute in both his pictures!

I am caught up again! Sorry, but our unplanned trip to DLP and the last week of school just didn't give me any time to get on the DIS.

First off .......
Remember that sweet shop in Monterey? We used to shop there during our trips to CA!! Small world.
LOVE the aquarium in Monterey. Did you go on the 17 mile drive - AWESOME views!!!
Carmel is so cute. We love it there too, they have some great restaurants and the beach is wonderful - but you know that yourself.

You got a lot done at the MK! Love all the photos and most of all I love that you stood up to that family trying to get in front of you at the Partners statue. I wish I could muster up that force once. I bite my lip and boil inside. :rotfl2:

Good for you!

First the t-shirt and then the Brazilian family. :thumbsup2

:thumbsup2

Calvin has really grown, hasn't he? Love the castle shots.

Funny Buzz photo!

You're right - he does need a Mickey shirt! :rotfl:

Love the year-to-year comparison pics. Totally agree on how quickly time goes. Was just saying earlier today that I cannot believe Izzy is almost a 2-year-old little person and not a baby anymore. I'm sure you feel the same way!

You got a lot of great Photopass pictures! :thumbsup2

Good for you for standing up for yourself against the line-cutting family! ::yes:: I think we've all been in that situation and it's so hard to say anything for some reason, so good job!

Mmmm, yummy waffle!

I just found your trip report Alicia and I am all caught up. Calvin is SO cute! And you husband is so funny. Those solo pics in front of the Sorcerers Hat in DHS just cracked me up! :rotfl2: Subbing!

Should I even be posting our pathetic scores?
Of course! How can we make fun of them if you don't post them? :rotfl2:

And look at us, we look so determined that we were going to end up with high numbers :lmao:
Well, you seem to have your arms crossed up like a pretzel. I'm sure that had no negative impact on your score at all. :rolleyes1

So at one point I just started turning the car in one direction for a straight minute because I had no idea what he wanted me to do. He says I’m the reason his score was so low :rolleyes1
I can't argue with that logic. It is hard to shoot what you can't even aim at.

“But I like churros!” :rotfl:
And there's not a thing wrong with that! :thumbsup2

He really has gotten so big. It’s pretty scary how quickly time goes.
::yes::

Both pictures are great. It really is cool to see how much he's grown between the 2 trips.

and my Mom came out..whoa.

“Nope, absolutely not!” as I started pushing DH in front of the family in front of the camera.. “We’re in line, you saw me waiting, now you can do the same.”
 :worship: :worship: :worship: I'm impressed. Well done. That kind of bad@#$ behavior makes up for that score at Buzz Lightyear. :thumbsup2

Good job sticking up for yourself ... especially if it was a bigger group that could have taken forever if they wanted all different combination of people, etc.

Aw, cute to see the year over year picture of Calvin

Well, clearly the only solution is to get a shirt with a picture of Mickey eating a churro :rotfl:

Ahhh, Monterey is so beautiful! So is Paso Robles/Cambria :)

I agree with you on the trips. I think I read or heard somewhere that you can lose everything but they can't take away your memories. So that's how I view vacations. Memories!

Funny about how DH grew up. My DD10 plays competitive softball and soccer so I know what you mean about travel/$$$. We try to balance it out though. It takes a bit of work with the scheduling but somehow we manage it. For example, her team at the last minute decided to go to the national qualifier in San Diego. It was almost a no for us because of our previously planned trips and subsequent budget -- but my parents agreed to sponsor her.

It was about 7 degrees cooler in Paso, so way better than Tulare:thumbsup2

We didn't have time to wine taste unfortunately. We thought about it on Sunday coming home and then realized it was a holiday weekend and people would be leaving so we decided against it. Thank goodness! The traffic was NUTS! We should have at least visited one of the two wineries we have memberships with, cus they were giving out sangria, which would have been amazing in the Summer heat.

I'm never the one that speaks up, but I just had to! I surprised myself for sure!

Woah! Good for you! :thumbsup2 I don't understand why he would be in line behind you the whole time and then decide to cut? :confused3 Some people are just clueless.

That waffle sounds delicious!

I tried to give you a warning about the scary kid:rotfl2:

Wasn't that waffle delicious! It took a while to get, but it was definitely worth the wait.

He was so little! As someone had pointed out when we were there when he was 2 months old, "He's brand new!" :rotfl: I thought that was cute.

I am caught up again! Sorry, but our unplanned trip to DLP and the last week of school just didn't give me any time to get on the DIS.

How fun! I loved that shop. So much good stuff in there and it smells amazing.

No we didn't do 17 mile drive unfortunately. We always talk about doing it and then forget about it. I hear it's gorgeous!

Carmel has some of the best shops! It's such a cute little village with some amazing restaurants too.

:lmao:I usually do that too but something came over me and decided to be brave. I'll probably only do that once every 30 years at this rate :rotfl2:

Good for you!

First the t-shirt and then the Brazilian family. :thumbsup2

:thumbsup2

Calvin has really grown, hasn't he? Love the castle shots.

I was having quite a day, wasn't I?:lmao:

Mmmm, yummy waffle!

It makes me so sad, but excited to see how the January picture is going to look and see how much he has grown.

I think i'm mostly scared of getting into an argument over something so little and trivial. Especially in front of little kids. But luckily there wasn't too many people around us.

I just found your trip report Alicia and I am all caught up. Calvin is SO cute! And you husband is so funny. Those solo pics in front of the Sorcerers Hat in DHS just cracked me up! :rotfl2: Subbing!

Hi and Welcome! Whenever I feel like having a good laugh, i'll pull up my iPhoto and check out his PP pics :rotfl: They really are funny! Maybe one day Calvin and DH can have photo shoots like this:rotfl:

Well, you seem to have your arms crossed up like a pretzel. I'm sure that had no negative impact on your score at all. :rolleyes1

None whatsoever! TBH, i'm shocked that I even got that score. I really should have been in the negatives.

And there's not a thing wrong with that! :thumbsup2

Nope! But I wish he would like, Mickey bars or something.

 :worship: :worship: :worship: I'm impressed. Well done. That kind of bad@#$ behavior makes up for that score at Buzz Lightyear. :thumbsup2

:rotfl::rotfl2: Haha thank you!!

That was one of the things I was worried about was the large group. Who knows, maybe they would have just done the one shot and been done and I think I may have been okay with that, but I just didn't know.

YES! I must find that shirt if it exists! Otherwise, i'm just going to have to make a shirt! Brilliant!

Ahhh, Monterey is so beautiful! So is Paso Robles/Cambria :)

I love that area up there! The weather is always perfect and lots of fun things to do.

My SIL (DH's sister) played competitive softball too all the way through the first year of college and gave it up. She was really good (pitcher) but just decided she didn't want to do it anymore. I couldn't believe the amount of money that was spent for these sports, with hotels, equipment, gas, food, flights and having a batting/pitching cage built in their backyard.:scared1:

I love the comparison between the pictures in the rose garden from your two trips! It's amazing how much Calvin has grown. It just isn't so noticeable when we see his pictures as he grows. Big or small, still the cutest little guy!

High five to you for not taking the aggressive family's crap! I have a Zero BS tolerance meter, but I have to hold it in when I travel. I would have flipped out on the first Brazilian lady. I just don't understand why people think it's ok to act like they're better than others or try to take advantage of them. Not acceptable. Assert yourself, girl!

Hey!! Oh man, look at that shiny ticker you have going on down in your sig!:cool1: Where are you headed?? For how long?! TR???:hyper:

***I left us off telling a guy to get back in line

(A Bug's Life anyone? Takin' it back to 1998:thumbsup2)

And then treated myself to a delicious, hot waffle (gotta feed the fury right?!:lmao:), while waiting for DM to make her way to the gates outside of the MK.***

So we started walking up towards Main street and we saw another PP opportunity from a pretty good angle so I suggested we do that. DS was sleeping in his stroller so it was couple time!

I added a sticker to cover up that ugly crane

Then we really started to be on our way to exit the park. Spotted this in the sky

I couldn’t imagine doing that. My waffle would be all over the place:lmao::crazy2:

I thought this was fitting. DH is a Crow and he loves baseball...soooo...It works.

We made our way out of the MK to find that DM was right outside the security bag check area. She looked better and she said that from staying in and relaxing for a bit longer, she was feeling much better. She had also brought along some tea with her in a to-go cup which was helping. Yay! :cool1:

So let’s get a move on over to Epcot via the monorail! We were great on time, it was 10:45 at this point and someone was enjoying the ride

Now I’m pretty sure we had a FP+ for the The Seas with Nemo and Friends, although I can’t find my photo confirmation, or maybe the line was just short enough to walk on, but we did decide to go on that ride and let DS have some milk at that point. Lunch and a show for him!

Dory??

Of course, DM was in a shopping mood (obviously she was feeling better:rotfl:) so she hung out in the shop after getting off the ride and bought a few things for DS. Side note: Now that DS is around, DH and I no longer get anything from DM...and that sucks :rotfl2: DH has pointed this out to me more than once. Can it be possible to be jealous of your own kid? :scratchin

I’m pretty sure we were going to go inside and check on the wait time for Living with the Land

but we had just put DS back in the stroller and we couldn’t take strollers inside. And taking him out just sounded like too much work that we weren't willing to expend so we headed to the next best thing.

:drinking1
