Food and Wine? Sounds Divine! An October TR - 12/2 A PTR Link!

Wow! You were able to fit a lot into that day. And quite some tasty looking food as well. :thumbsup2

Just not sure what to make of those Italians :rotfl2: they are a little weird.

Your mom is such a sweetheart to get let you have a night out, just the two of you and your photopass pics and SE pics are great.

Can't wait you are up to next!

And btw how nice of you to help out with your nephew. :thumbsup2

Wow, those Italian guys! Flirty wouldn't surprise me, but super-forward is not what I'd expect from Disney CMs. I can only imagine what an Italian Disneyland would be like. :rotfl2:

Well, at least the person with you on Spaceship Earth's future was smiling. :confused3 Strange. At first, I thought it was going to be one of the Italian CMs or something. :rotfl:

Glad you got your fish and chips, by the way. Dug loves those! :thumbsup2

And a kid-free evening in Epcot during Food & Wine sounds wonderful! :cloud9:

***My DN is napping and DS is watching Shawn the Sheep, so now's the perfect time for an update! I think there's only going to be one more update after todays since it's our last day....:cool1::lmao:***

After finding DS’s lost Domo, we headed to the next booth, Florida

We went with the Florida Grass-fed Beef Slider – with Monterey Jack and Sweet and Hot Pickles and a glass of the Key Lime Wine

The slider was basic but the wine was pretty unique! I was expecting tart, but it was very slightly sweet and refreshing.

Next in line was the Hops and Barley Booth where we ordered the Lobster Roll with Lemon Herb Mayonnaise

Back in the Summer of 2011 B.C. (Before Calvin), we did a mini driving tour of New England and got to try a real Lobster Roll in Kennebunkport, Maine at a popular place called the Clam Shack and it was absolutely delicious. The one served here at F&W…meh. It was a bit rubbery and should have come with lots more mayo to help the sandwich out. But glad we still tried it.

What’s next?!

Now this booth…was interesting. It was Italy and the guys working the booth had some…um…cojones. Seriously. These guys were as forward as could be and did not care. DH and I stood in a short line of maybe 2 people in front of us when I realized I left our passport in the stroller so he went to go get it. By this time, it was my turn to order and it was 3 male CM’s running 2 registers, no one behind me. All 3 of them start speaking to each other in Italian and I have no idea what they’re saying but they’re smiling and it’s just awkward…for me at least. And the conversation went like this.

CM1: What would you like?
Me: A Ravioli and A Cannoli
(immediately after I said that, no break)
CM2: Where are you from?
Me: California
CM3: I wish they all could be California girls
CM2: Was that your Boyfriend? What a lucky guy!
CM1: You’re really cute! Oh, that will be $X.XX

WHOA, what just happened? The whole conversation was just awkward and confusing. I felt like I was being bombarded and to make it even more awkward, DM decided to come stand behind me in line to give me my passport right in the middle of the conversation. Luckily for me, she paid no attention:lmao: I gave them my card, got a stamp, grabbed the food as quickly as I could before they could say anything more in front of my DM and ran back to where DH was sitting. We waited for DM to get her food and moved to a place where we could all sit comfortably and on our way to a sitting area, one of the CM shouts out to me, “I hope you’ll come back and visit us soon!” right in front of DH and DM. :faint:

When we sat down, I told DH about what happened and he said, “That’s pretty funny. Guess you’re not cute enough though to get a free cannoli out of it, huh?”

After that craziness, I was ready to start eating.

The Ravioli is massive! It doesn't look big in the picture, but it's like a 4.5 X 4.5 inch square that's really deep. It can easily be a meal in itself. It was delicious and super hot!

The cannoli was good too (the best one i've ever had was in Boston!), but the ravioli was the real winner here

continued in next post

"THINKING" about planning F&W trip for 2015 as a "newbie" to F&W!
These food pics look SO GOOD! YUM! Cannoli is my absolute fav as is ravioli!
THANKS!:thumbsup2:)

That is seriously uncool behaviour from the CM in Italy!
Love the fish and chips!!

I'm curious....where was the best cannoli you found in Boston? We had some from Mike's Cannoli store in the North End and it was really great. But I wondered if it was the *best*.....

I was actually going to wrap up my TR over the weekend until this happened...

Those are DS's teeth marks

DS was playing on our bed and tripped over the comforter and went face first into the foot board, or rather teeth first. I freaked out of course, cause there was blood everywhere and noticed that it was coming from his teeth and right near the corner of his mouth on his lip, almost where it creases.

I wasn't sure what to do, so I called my neighbor who is our dentist....but she was at the pumpkin patch with her family and told us to meet her at her office right away (:goodvibes - I felt terrible taking time away from her family, but she was insistent)

Long story short, the x-rays showed no damage that we could see, but we could never get a good shot so have to go back on Thursday for better xrays. She recommended putting Dermabond on his lip (just like the hospital did on his chin a few months ago:sad2:...I hope all these injuries are a boy thing...) but there was no way to keep it dry for 24 hours, so we're just letting it heal on its own. Big white blister is forming over it, i'm assuming that means it's fine.

I was done the rest of Saturday being tired and had a headache all day when we got home from our fiasco. Sunday DS and I were/are both sick with colds. Not the best weekend.

The only saving grace is that the World Series is currently 3-2 Giants, so that helped :cloud9:

Asking for thoughts and prayers that there is no root damage for his teeth later on, which is what our dentist is concerned with the most for his adult teeth. Hoping to finish this TR up in the next few days.

:goodvibes

Not cute enough for a free canoli? That DH! :rotfl: Serisouly, Italian men are the worst. Followed by Caribbean men I think.

I liked the ravioli but didn't think it was anything special. It was good though. Now those fish and chips are worth going back for! How nice of DM to take care of DS and you guys had another free night.

Bummer about the lobster roll. It didn't look like there was any mayo on there at all.

DH thinks he has jokes:rotfl:

Ugh, those fish and chips are delicious. Could definitely go for some right now at 9:30 in the morning!

Oooh, I see a chocolate stout on the menu. I know what I'm getting!

I keep looking at the menus and wonder why the heck I didn't order more beverages :sad2:

Well, don't feel bad. Usually my conversations with women go something like this:

Whoa-Big-Gulps-Dumb-and-Dumber.gif

Glad you keep your convos short :rotfl: Love this! :lmao:

I'm guessing it's one of the guys from the Italy booth after you drop-kicked him.

:rotfl2:

Hi Alicia

I'm just catching up on this trip report, but I HAD to comment after I read about baby's first haircut... HE IS TOO CUTE!!!! You guys are a beautiful little family :goodvibes:goodvibes:goodvibes

...Now I'm going to continue reading :cloud9:

Hi Katie! Thanks for reading! Just checked out your current TR and i'm so in :)

That's so nice of your mom to volunteer to let you have an evening out kid free. I know how much you enjoyed that time for your anniversary not having to deal with a stroller.

Italian guys, leave it to them. I was never groped more on bus than the time I rode it back to the hotel from the Coliseum in Rome. Back when I was young and much skinnier. Definitely rude.

I'm not sure that I got to Italy and had the ravioli, it does look seriously good! And I agree on the Lobster Roll, it just wasn't up to New England standards.

I always hear about how aggressive they are from friends that have visited Italy, but didn't think they carried all the way to the States :lmao:

Definitely not! I don't think anything comes close to New England Lobster Rolls.

Oh my gosh the Italian CMs! Not cool!

Your F+W updates make me hungry. I wouldn't mind that ravioli right about now. Or those fish and chips. I actually googled it to see if I can even eat cod right now. Good news, yes I can! So now that's what I want for dinner :rotfl2:

So not only did this person in your future only have half a face, but it wasn't even DH!? That's so funny. But I'm glad you reunited in the ocean.

And your DH isn't allowed to say no to requests, BTW. It's pretty much law that whatever you want, you get :hyper:

:lmao: Didn't you know you always find your way back to your true love in the middle of the ocean?! :rotfl:

Hope you're feeling better and glad your appetite is coming back :goodvibes

I really liked the slider - thought it was just a good solid version. I heard this past year they added a more interesting cheese to it and was supposed to be quite good.

my goodness those Italian guys! not the smarted response by your DH though :rotfl:

We got that ravioli too and can confirm that it is huge and very filling!

Ooh, very nice of your DM to offer you the night free!

love the "rushed photos to prove how much I needed me some fried fish" photos

I know how it is when you have kids that even getting to do mundane things (like shop, etc.) sans kids seems like such a luxury so I get how you were feeling that evening

Ooh, I wonder what type of cheese. Cheese makes all the difference, IMO:thumbsup2

I knew I was writing a TR, and a TR is hard to do without photos but I didn't want to fail you guys, so that's the best I got :rotfl:

You never truly realize the freedom you have doing the simple things like eating out and shopping, until you have a child.

That ravioli was no joke. It really did us in too. There were so many booths I didn't get to try because of that darned ravioli!

One of the booths I didn't get to try was the Hops & Barley booth. I was so looking forward to trying the lobster tail, clam chowder, & lobster roll. Luckily I've heard from several people that none of those were really up to par so I don't feel AS bad missing it!

Those fish & chips look amazing as well. I'm glad you and DH got an impromptu date night in, even if it was just for a couple of hours.

I know! ::yes:: That Ravioli was super filling. Got your moneys worth for sure.

I would give that booth a shot again but would just get the clam chowder, no lobster.

:thumbsup2

Yeah, I think we did do pretty good that day with F&W. Tons of booths, I'll give that total at the end!

It really is so nice of her to offer to hang back with DS. She knows how much I love to stay in the parks and she doesn't mind relaxing back in the room and having it all to herself, so it's a win-win.

Wow, those Italian guys! Flirty wouldn't surprise me, but super-forward is not what I'd expect from Disney CMs. I can only imagine what an Italian Disneyland would be like. :rotfl2:

Glad you got your fish and chips, by the way. Dug loves those! :thumbsup2

And a kid-free evening in Epcot during Food & Wine sounds wonderful! :cloud9:

:lmao: I don't think i'd have the courage to visit a Disneyland Italy!

Could you imagine, him in the car behind us with a creepy smile?! :rotfl:

"THINKING" about planning F&W trip for 2015 as a "newbie" to F&W!
These food pics look SO GOOD! YUM! Cannoli is my absolute fav as is ravioli!
THANKS!:thumbsup2:)

No thinking needed. You NEED to check out F&W! It's so much fun. I'd go again in a heartbeat!

I saw this! Only because it was trending on FB :lmao: So now there's going to be walls up during our trip. Geez, DHS is not the place to be right now.

That is seriously uncool behaviour from the CM in Italy!
Love the fish and chips!!

I'm curious....where was the best cannoli you found in Boston? We had some from Mike's Cannoli store in the North End and it was really great. But I wondered if it was the *best*.....

I think it was Mike's! I know there was 2 places on Trip Advisor and Yelp that I considered visiting, and i'm fairly certain that's where we ended up going. I can't find my picture on that to back it up.

What the heck is Shawn and the Sheep? All we watch is toddler stuff and I've never heard of that. :rotfl:

I'm sorry for the actions of the Italian CM's. Very un-Disney like, but probably not all that strange for an Italian to act that way. :rotfl2: The food does look pretty awesome though so maybe it was worth it? :confused3 I'd sure love to have some of that lasagna right now!

Your DH made a pretty good point though. I mean if they're going to stand there and hit on you, the least they could do was hook you up with some free food! :lmao::rotfl2::rotfl:

I'm glad you got a nice, if brief, evening to the park with just the 2 of you. Always a nice little break. And you're absolutely right about the Michaelangelo Sistine Chapel scene being the best part of Spaceship Earth! :thumbsup2

Oh wow! Calvin certainly is an active little boy! :lmao: I hope there is nothing seriously wrong with his teeth and I'm glad it seems to be healing well right now. Very nice of your dentist to meet you on a Saturday to take a look at it. I'm sure it won't be the last time he does something like that.

I haven't watched much of the World Series. I love baseball, but just haven't been able to get excited about watching the playoffs this year. My team laid an egg after the All Star break and there just weren't any teams in the playoffs that I really like.

I'll admit that I was a huge Giants fans when they were playing the Cards if that counts for anything. :thumbsup2 :rotfl2:

Well, as someone who has 1 boy and 2 girls I can testify that little boys are different and just can't help but get hurt. Not to say the girls don't get hurt but seems like Peter seeks out ways to injure himself much more

I really hope that Calvin is ok and will be praying for him (and you!)

Glad you are getting some happiness from your baseball team. As a Met fan I really don't know what that feels like. We specialize more in pain and disappointment :rotfl:

How scary that must have been with Calvin! :( I hope there's no permanent damage. That was very kind of your neighbor/dentist to see him right away. Please let us know what happens.

Oh no, poor Calvin! I hope there's no permanent damage and he heals up quickly. At least you have a nice dentist neighbor to help, I guess. Will be thinking of him and hope the X-ray re-dos show good news. :goodvibes

I'm sorry to hear about Calvin. I hope he heals quickly and that everything turns out to be just fine! Yes, boys can be rambunctious and get hurt easily...and no, they don't learn their lesson. They get right back up and do it again! I always say as a mom of boys...there's definitely a reason wine was invented! ;)

Sorry about Calvin's accident! My boy is very accident prone too.

Here's hoping there is no lasting damage.

DD10 managed to kill 2 of her teeth (at separate incidents) when she was little. They were baby teeth (of course, duh) and although they turned grey and one had to be removed because it started to rot :crazy2: ... she now has 2 beautiful adult teeth in their place :thumbsup2 Sending :goodvibes that it's the same result for Calvin.

What the heck is Shawn and the Sheep? All we watch is toddler stuff and I've never heard of that. :rotfl:

Oops spelled it wrong. Shaun the Sheep is a spin off of Wallace and Gromit, a British show. I don't think it airs on TV (maybe PBS?) but it was bought for me () when it came out a while ago. Yes, i'm still a toddler:lmao:

I'm sorry for the actions of the Italian CM's. Very un-Disney like, but probably not all that strange for an Italian to act that way. :rotfl2: The food does look pretty awesome though so maybe it was worth it? :confused3 I'd sure love to have some of that lasagna right now!

I was so embarrassed but the food was worth going through that hassle.

Your DH made a pretty good point though. I mean if they're going to stand there and hit on you, the least they could do was hook you up with some free food! :lmao:

Next time i'll 'work' it better to ensure some free food!:lmao:

I'm glad you got a nice, if brief, evening to the park with just the 2 of you. Always a nice little break. And you're absolutely right about the Michaelangelo Sistine Chapel scene being the best part of Spaceship Earth! :thumbsup2

I thought I was the only one that liked that scene! Every one seems to really enjoy the 70's computer lady the most.

Oh wow! Calvin certainly is an active little boy! :lmao: I hope there is nothing seriously wrong with his teeth and I'm glad it seems to be healing well right now. Very nice of your dentist to meet you on a Saturday to take a look at it. I'm sure it won't be the last time he does something like that.

Thanks going in a couple hours. He's doing better and the lip is healing good, just praying there's no damage!

The Cardinals was who I was most concerned with. Not sure how we won but we did!

Well, as someone who has 1 boy and 2 girls I can testify that little boys are different and just can't help but get hurt. Not to say the girls don't get hurt but seems like Peter seeks out ways to injure himself much more

I really hope that Calvin is ok and will be praying for him (and you!)

Thanks I appreciate it. Whenever we got home from the Dentist on Saturday, he went straight to our bed and pounded on it, asking to get up there:lmao: This kid just won't learn!

Glad you are getting some happiness from your baseball team. As a Met fan I really don't know what that feels like. We specialize more in pain and disappointment :rotfl:

Major happiness last night for sure!

:goodvibes

Poor Calvin. I hope there is no permanent damage.

So scary to hear about Calvin's accident. Hope it stays with no permanent damage!

Oh no! I hope everything with Calvin is OK. Keep us posted!

Thanks you friends!:goodvibes Leaving here shortly.

I'm sorry to hear about Calvin. I hope he heals quickly and that everything turns out to be just fine! Yes, boys can be rambunctious and get hurt easily...and no, they don't learn their lesson. They get right back up and do it again! I always say as a mom of boys...there's definitely a reason wine was invented! ;)

You're so right about that! Whenever we got home from the dentist, he ran right back to our room and started hitting the bed asking to get back up there! Umm, no :lmao:

Sorry about Calvin's accident! My boy is very accident prone too.

Here's hoping there is no lasting damage.

Thanks Monica:goodvibes Enjoyed seeing your pics on FB!

DD10 managed to kill 2 of her teeth (at separate incidents) when she was little. That's great to hear that it didn't damage her adult teeth! Hoping for some good news today.

A few things before I get to my final update(:faint:):

1) Two words: MADISON BUMGARNER :worship: :yay: Holy moly that game nearly gave me a heart attack, especially in the 9th inning with that triple:scared: I was running circles around the living room and kitchen between pitches, I was so nervous! The Royals did an amazing job and made it an awesome series.

2) We watched our FINAL episode of the Simpsons last night:sad1: I'm pretty sure DH's eyes watered a bit:lmao: It's pretty cool to say that we have now watched every episode ever.

3) Leaving here in a bit for the Dentist. DS is doing good, his lip is healing nicely so now just worried about his upper teeth. He still won't let me lift his lip up to check them out but i'm sure the dentist and her assistants will do a much better job at trying to check them out than me.

Aaaand now DN is up! The update is written up and ready to post so i'll post that this afternoon!
