Can anyone tell me what you do with your car if you drive down to fly out of Seattle?
For a morning flight (?9:45 eg) you would have to leave Vanc. at least 5:30 am. and leave the car in the airport parking lot or a nearby lot (more time for shuttle). Anyone know the cost for airport parking? We would be gone for 10 days.
The other option (easier on the body!) would be to stay overnight at a motel -- added expense, anyone know a motel that parks your car (not valet) for free if you stay overnight?
I have heard of them, but don't know if they do it for that length of time.

When we've flown out of Seattle, we've left our vehicle in one of the lots in the area of Seatac. Masterpark is a big one down there, they have more than one lot www.masterparking.com

I was trying to find a hotel that would keep our car for nothing but couldn't find any! If you find any let me know. We're away for 17 nights though.

At parksleepfly the Red Lion Inn apparently has 14 days free parking with 1 night stay of $99 U.S. ($7 for any extra days parking). That is for 2 adults , 2 kids. Don't know anything about that hotel ,but there are others.

The Doubletree Hotel Seattle Airport has rates that includes parking. In December I was able to get a rate of 129 USD that included up to 10 nightd parking.

Personally, I would never drive down the same morning my flight is leaving. Seattle traffic can be horrendous not to mention any potential problems at the border crossing.

You're right about flying down the same morning. Don't know what I was thinking! Actually I think I'm going to avoid all hassles for now and hope for decent airfares in Oct/Nov. We're going early Feb. so I don't really want to drive the I-5 in bad weather either. It's so much easier to get one of our kids to drive us to the airport and we'll be in Orlando the same day.

if we time our flights right, we get the Quick shuttle from Vancouver right to Seatac airport and then home again. That way we don't have to worry about driving and parking. However there is only DH and I so two return tickets is not a bad price. If there are more people then the price wouldn't be worth it. We do it for the convenience though.

I just searched southwest airlines for a fare for our Jan trip, and for two adults return it was $425.00 USD including taxes etc (that's total for both not per ticket), so Canadian equivalent is $561.00. (again that is the grand total not per person)

Pretty good deal except right now they are only taking bookings until Jan 14th, and we want to come home on Jan 16, so we will keep looking.

Rachael Q,
Is the transportation called Quick Shuttle? What time are your flights usually. Alaska gets in at 5 pm, which is great but it leaves Seattle at 9:45 or so. There is only 2 of us as well, but bus transportation we have looked at doesn't arrive in Seattle until 11:25.

the Best Western Executel the night before we flew out of Seattle this past March. It's a decent place, was about $90/night, included 1 week's free parking in their lot, and shuttle to the airport (which wasn't too far away). There was a pool also, which DD enjoyed. We're glad we didn't try the drive on the same day as the flight. The border can be unpredictable these days!

Deltadinah,

Yep, Quickshuttle.

Flight was at 1245pm from Seattle

Shuttle gets to Seatac at 1100am -which only gave us just under 2 hours - so no time for delays.
