We decided to surprise our kids with a trip to Disney leaving on Xmas morning!! We're pretty excited, got a great rate on the Poly with the AP...but I have a question about the airline tickets. I checked online and about crapped myself at the price to fly on Christmas Day. All of the sites regarding tips for good airfare recommended flying on Christmas Day instead of the days before/after due to a lower price.

Are there usually holiday sales when it gets closer to time or will the rates go up when it gets closer? When is a good time to purchase?

Thanks

Yep, there will be sales closer in that will exclude Christmas Eve and the day after Christmas (as well as New Year's) leaving travel for Christmas day. Most airlines haven't done their cancellations yet for the Christmas holiday, so I would be leary in booking something right now anyway. You would stand a high likelyhood of being rebooked.

After labor day, they'll start to concentrate more on Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Whew...thanks Planejoy for the info. That reassures me. Right now there are okay fares but none of them include Christmas Day. I'll just use the fare watcher and hope for the best...

Thanks again
