repost:  We got a REALLy good rate to fly into Sanford instead of MCO. We grabbed it up but now I worry...How much farther away is it? Is it a nice airport? Easy to navigate? What about ease of renting cars? Any and all info about this airport would be greatly appreciated!!

Thanks
Katie

Hi Katie! Sanford is about a 45 minute drive to the Disney Resorts. We arrived on a Sunday & the airport was not crowded at all(same on return flight on a Friday). We rented a car from Alamo & there was no one in line, so that went very quickly. I have never flown into MCO so I canott compare, but this is a nice airport, very easy to navigate. When you leave the airport you can take 417(toll roads)or I4. We drove I4 & must have lucked out, we did not encounter any delays with traffic both ways. I think you will be pleased with this airport. I will be flying into Sanford again in Oct.

we flew into this airport last sept. and didn't have any problems. it was clean and easy to navigate to disney property. :earsboy: :earsgirl:

Hi Katie,
We fly into Sanford from Portsmouth, NH. It is a very small airport and easy to navigate, much smaller than Orlando. The longest line we have had at the car rental counter was 1 person! The ride to Disney seems to take forever, however if you look at the clock it is about 45 minutes. The drive back seems short - we never want to leave!
We have taken 417 and I4. Seems to be about the same if you are not during rush hour on I4.

Have fun!

Sanford is very small and very quick to get in an out of. So even though MCO is closer, going through Sanford lets you avoid the crowds and the traffic from MCO down I-4 to Disney. You'll have a lot less stress in about the same amount of time!
