Starting to plan our summer trip and thinking about possible dining options. We are torn between Flying Fish and Yachtsman. DH and I both enjoy seafood and steak equally. We want to be walking distance to Epcot or HS after dinner that’s why we are deciding between these two restaurants. We have eaten at both in the past, but it has been years. Looking for recent recommendations.

We have always had a fantastic experience at Yachtsman. Food is always excellent, pacing of the meal is perfect, service is warm and attentive without being obtrusive.

OK, these two are good solid choices that have performed well over years of dining. Its is not a matter of one better than the other, but personal preference. I would personally recommend looking at their menus to see which one aligns best to your group and go with the one that best aligns to those expectations.

I'm not a huge steakhouse fan, so I may be biased, but we LOVED Flying Fish on our last trip. It was definitely our favorite meal. The service was outstanding and the food was fantastic - very creative, delicious offerings. I also thought the atmosphere and decor were lovely. I love the Boardwalk vibe.

That's a real Sophie's choice right there. As others have said it really is a matter of personal preference and which menu appeals to you more but I'd give a slight nod to Flying Fish. Don't get me wrong we eat at Yacthsman just about every trip but I feel like I can get equally good steak at home if I wanted to, but amazing signature style seafood is harder to come by.

I love Yachtsman. Wonderful steak. Onion rolls are excellent. But if fish & seafood are your thing, look hard at Flying Fish & scour the menu. Like PPs have mentioned, compare with your home restaurants. Ask what can you get in your neighbourhood vs what is unique and appealing at WDW. Only other caveat would be when you are planning your ADR during your trip. If well within your trip and you are searching for comfort food and that is now the priority, then decide if a good steak is your priority. A very personal and trip centric decision.

I have had better overall experiences at Flying Fish and their current menu definitely appeals to me much more. But both are terrific. I couldn't do both on my upcoming trip, though, so I went with Flying Fish. My last meal at the Yachtman was kind of uninspiring, to tell you the truth but I didn't get their steak specialties, so maybe it was my own fault. I got something still on the menu though, the purple sweet potato filled ravioli and was super disappointing - I didn't like it at all. So, that was just one dish, one time, but it was my last time, so it influenced my decision for my upcoming trip to skip it. But I'll probably return in the future.

I can't comment on Yachtsman but Flying Fish was my favorite restaurant last month. I had the Dungeness Crab Croquettes to start with, which by the way even though the online menu states it's Dungeness Crab it's now sustainably caught Snow Crab from Canada. The Chef tried pumping up the fact that it was sustainable thus as good as Dungeness but it's not close. There's also about a $20 lb price difference between the two so I understand the switch. That said it was very good. The Wagyu Filet was excellent and I did get confirmation they are using a Black Label Wagyu from Snake River Farms. For any food geeks out there that's SRF 's mid grade, Silver being Lowest and Gold being the highest. My dessert, the Chocolate Hazelnut Cake with Warm Ganache may have been the best thing I've ever eaten at Disney.

We are similarly challenged in trying to pick between the two! Probably will go with Flying Fish because I live in the northern Rockies and great steak is easy to find here... seafood, definitely not!

Anyway, I want to share a fab story about FF. When we went a few years ago, we sort of wandered in on a slow night, not too hungry from being in the parks all day and eating junk food, and ordered a bunch of small plates (before that was a thing- they were just called appetizers back then :P) and the CMs were so wonderful even though we weren't spending a huge sum.

My daughter was wearing a black outfit and there were white napkins. The waiter went back and got her a black napkin to match- I'm not kidding. It was about the classiest, most unexpected move I've ever seen.

While they both offer good experiences I would say the Yachtsman has the edge on Flying Fish. When FF opened I would have said the opposite.

We are doing both next trip because i couldn't decide. We are also staying at BWV so it works out.

I definitely wanted to do YM but after reading so many awesome reviews of FF i decided to add it in.

We would lean to YSH in this decision. Agree about the quality of the steak and the onion rolls - delicious. Not a fan of FF since the re-do a few years ago. The menu just doesn't appeal any more.

Given a choice I woudl choose FF> I love the atmosphere, and the food is really good. Yoiiu will nto go wrong if you choose YSH though. This restauant is very different in terms of atmosphere though, so if you cannot use the menu to decide, think about how you want to dine. DO you want a quieter more sedate meal, or one that is a little more energetic. DO you want to avoid more kids, or do you not care?

FF is not conducive to youngsters, and the atmosphere is a little more energetic than YSH. This one is very relaxed and caters to families. WHen I cannot decide where I want to eat based on menu, I always look at the dynamics of the restaurant to tip the scale. If I was taking a 10 YO I woudl choose YSH, however if my 17 YO DGD was with me I wodul skip right over to FF>

Thank you for this. We will have my DS with us. He’s very well behaved in restaurants (he used to eating out with us and his grandparents). He’s been to many signature restaurants at Disney between the two trips he’s been on. I was leaning more towards FF, but now may rethink it.

Well here goes.....Took some family to YSH this past March....and also the year before....our grandson (29) thinks this place is the greatest....I will just say my preference is FF...especially after the remodel....which has nothing to do with the food....

I much prefer steak and the veggies they serve than a steak YSH serve and the whipped potatoes...
Service was excellent at both restaurants....
