Flying around Xmas from PHL?

Airtran is currently priced at $99 each way for some of our dates (DH and I flying down different days). Although this is higher than I normally pay I am wondering if I should just book it. The dates are 12/19 and 12/24. I am leaving on 12/20 and the price is much higher. I am thinking of booking the first two dates and waiting for SW for the 20th. My thought is that around Christmas the price will not get cheaper than $99 and may actually go up. Does anyone have any experience? I don't want to be kicking myself if SW offers $130 r/t on a sale and I booked Airtran but I doubt that happens with these dates....

I booked with airtran for our 12/19 flight down at $99. I didn't book our return trip on 12/28 yet. I figure if the first leg of the flight goes down, then I can use the credit to book the return. Or if SW comes out and is cheaper, I will book the return with them. I am a little nervous though, because I think they may drop the price on the way down, but it may go up on the return. So I am in the same boat right with ya'.

I'm right there with ya, too. Looking for flights to MCO on 12/31 and coming back 1/5. Was debating on whether I should book those Airtran flights for $99 on 12/31 ... I also worry about the prices being the holidays.

Sorry I can't offer any advice. Maybe someone will come along with some insight

We're flying down on Dec. 10th and I think I'm going to wait to see if the fares go down. We're going in August and I got 99.00 down and 27.00 to come back. I couldn't believe when I saw 27.00!!. Someone told me to check late at night or after midnight. I got the 27.00 fare at about 11 PM. Soon after that I saw the Southwest had a 49.00 fare going down. If I had waited I would've saved more money. I hope I don't make a mistake of waiting, but I'll just keep checking. Good luck everyone!!

Which airline is this with? SW, AirTran? Those are some awesome rates!!

We flew early December last year and the rates got cheaper in the summer when SW opened their flights. I remember that friday and saturday flights were very expensive but the other days were decent although not as cheap as late summer early fall. We just paid $105 r/t for Sept. I know I will not see anywhere near that in Dec but boy does it make $200 feel really high!

I have flown SW out of philly for the past 3/4 yrs...I have flown beginning Dec, Christmas, september, augs, July, march, october and I haven't ever paid more then $79.

I flew last July, Sept and I'm flying again this July and the tickets for each person in my party hasn't been over $49. I have a few $39 tickets for this coming July. I will always wait it out for SW I always have 6 to 7 people each trip it makes a huge difference to me.
