Hello everyone :goodvibes

My husband and myself has recently decided to add an addition to the family :teeth:

I am so excited. If we get pregnant as fast as we did with our first child, I would be around 8 months pregnant on our already paid for trip to Disney next year.

Has anyone ever flown and done Disney at 29 to 36 weeks pregnant? My doctors say that you can fly up to 36 weeks, but is Disney fun when you are pregnant?

What rides can you ride? We have a dd who will be 4, will she still get to have fun?

Here are my favorite rides. ( I dont know where to find a list of restricted ones) Would I be able to ride these:

MK: ( rides I love with my dd )

Buzz Lightyear
Small World
PeterPan
Snow White's Scary Adventure
Haunted Mansion
Tomorrow Land Transit

MGM:

Star Tours---I know this one will be off limits :( I guess :darth: will have to do with out me..

Great Movie Ride

EPCOT:

Soarin???? LOVE IT
Spaceship Earth

Anyway, I hope I can ride some things. Does anyone have a list?

Anyone have anything else about being pregnant at the world? TIPS?

Thanks a bunch :sunny:

Hmmmm.... I would say (based on my experiences) anything passed 32 weeks would be pushing it. My kids dropped early and it really started to hurt to walk when I was in that time frame. I was also tired due to be unable to sleep very well. Others may have a better experience. The only problem is that you won't know until you're there and then it may be too late. Can you put off ttc'ing for a few months so you'd be "less" pregnant at the time of your trip?

I agree with the above poster. We went at 24 weeks PG and it was perfect! I wasn't able to do the thrill rides but I will just hit all of them on a return trip someday. I wasn't having trouble walking, didn't have probs sleeeping yet and didn't have heartburn. Now at 32 weeks I have all three. Are they a problem in my day to day life? No. But I wouldn't want to be at WDW right now. We are vacationing again in a week and we have rented a quiet condo in the mountains with a pool. Just planning on hanging out, reading books, a little outlet shopping...

I think a 'big deal' vacation like WDW would be better enjoyed if you were not as far along as 32 weeks. Just because you can do it doesn't mean it will be a lot of fun!

Sorry , this is my dd's screen name, I can't get mine to go thru. Anyways, I went to WDW at 7 months preg ( went in feb '99 ,I was due April 5) with dd #2 and had no problems at all. I rode all of those rides you listed (except star tours) and also the safari ride at AK...Obvioulsy the "mountains" are out but most everything else should be f ine. I was in good shape and my dr. said the walking would be good for me as long as I took breaks when I needed them. We went in Feb so it wasn't too hot or crowded, but I was fine. I say if you are feeling good, go for it. (I had very mild pregnancies with all 3 kids, but if you are having problems, I would reconsider). I also went at 5 months preg. with my son in Dec '00 (I was due iearly May). and had no troubles, we even did the water park (no slides though)....that lazy river is veeeerrry relaxing for a pregnant mama!..Nice way to "take a load off" for a while!! I am struggling with my "baby weight" (yes 13 yrs after child one and 5 yrs after child 3 :rolleyes1 ) and I get more tired now in the parks than I did when I was preg. Good Luck on your choice!!

you need to check with your DR. I know mine wouldn't let me fly after 6 months.

Opps re-read and see that you already have. You might also check with the airlines. 36 weeks is really pushing it.

I was 21-22 weeks along on our last trip in Dec. and all was fine! BTW, Soarin' is fine for preggos, very gentle, and I'm the cautious type-didn't do the Safari...

Anyway, I wouldn't choose to do Disney as far along as you're thinking though. Towards the end of this last pgy my dh jokingly said "let's take a quick trip to WDW" and I remember saying "as much as I LOVE WDW, I wouldn't want to be there right now!" Just too darn tired... But I would also be nervous about going into labor early and not being home. Just not in my comfort zone.

Good luck deciding what to do AND with ttc! :wizard:

I went at the 31/32 week mark and it was fine. We did take things very slowly - spent two days out of the 8 in the water parks - and had one of the best most relaxing Disney vacations ever. It was so nice. It made me slow down and really enjoy the entire Disney experience - and it probably sounds silly but it also prepared me for Disney with dd. Everything I could do then she can do now and was able to do her first trip at 13 months. We've taken her three times now and we have only babyswapped for Soarin. I don't really feel like I'm missing anything at all just doing and seeing things through her eyes (of course you've already experienced that and I've gotten sidetracked :rotfl: ) Overall - the flight was fine (I had my doctor's permission of course), the trip was good, and I skipped everything with a warning except the Safari because I was comfortable with it - I did sit in the front seat because it isn't quite as bumpy. It's definitely doable at that point for some people....but you won't know until closer to your trip.

I wouldn't do it that far along either. Although you might start off totally normal and healthy and happy in the pregnancy, you cannot predict what might happen, and your vacation could end up in the air just because of that. While the flying is supposed to be okay up to 36 weeks, my OB/GYN would not okay me to go to my brother's wedding when I was 35 weeks, so missed the whole thing. Plus, if you are 36 weeks along and do get to fly, you will likely be really uncomfortable and not feel like walking around the parks. If I were you and could do it, I'd try to do something about halfway through; you'll feel your best at about 20-24 weeks.

I would think that you will need to speak with your OB about this. I went when I was 30 weeks preg. with baby #2. I had no problems whatsoever. With baby #3, I was so incredibly uncomfortable by 30 weeks, swelling, and I had some pain with my pubic bone (forget now what it was called) that made walking EXTREMELY painful. My OB advised me not to go to the beach (a 3-1/2) hour drive from our house when I was 36 weeks pregnant with #3. It might be that you would need to change your dates around and either go a little earlier in your pregnancy or wait until after the baby is born. We took baby #3, when she was just turning 3 mo. old and it was surprisingly easy. She slept most of the time. Good luck!!!

I have not done both at the same time...but i have done Disney while 7 or 8 months pregnant and I did a wedding where I flew to it--and was in it and danced ALOT (wear good shoes--my feet were sausages and I should have drank a ton more water that trip than I did!)...at 8 months pregnant (36 weeks along even).

It is doable and enjoyable...I would make sure you have trip insurance just in case you become medically unable to travel due to any unexpected complications.

And once on your trip--drink plenty of water in the air and on the ground and remember, you are traveling for two..so commando-touring will be practically impossible.

I wouldn't go at 36 weeks, I had both my boys at 36 weeks due to unexpected complications (different each time). My dr had told me no travel after I think week 30 or so......

I went while pregnant with my 2nd dd at 34 weeks on the way down and 35.5 weeks on the way home. I had a great time. Take it slow, drink a lot of water and spend some time in the pool. I didn't ride any of the mountains, but I did ride the safari several times. I think it is no more bumpy than a drive in the mountains which we do quite often. It is a very long flight for us (about 6 hours nonstop) and I was fine. I was quite surprised that no one at the airlines questioned how far along I was since I was huge!

As long as you are having a low risk pregnancy, go and have fun!

I did not know that any of the airlines allow a 32 week pregnant lady on the plane. I just would not fly that far along for numerous reasons unless it was an emergency.

I didn't have the least bit problems flying at 32 weeks. I had a very easy pregnancy with no problems at all. I do think that it is an individual decision that each person must make for themselves. I will say that I had a great time at 31/32 weeks along in Disney but 2 to 4 weeks later would have been a totally different story. But then I don't necessarily think that pregnancy is a "condition" - I took very good care of myself during my pregnancy - it took me over a year to get that way - I didn't take risks. My doctor didn't think there was any reason in the world why I shouldn't travel. I cleared it with him as soon as we were even considering it - and then again the week before we left. I felt up to it and took it very easy. But then I also played 18 holes of golf 2 weeks before I had her - well I rode around in a cart and usually at least tee'd off and putted, I didn't do much in the fairway because at that point I didn't feel like doing the amount of walking that was necessary. What I'm saying is every pregnancy is different - I would definitely be prepared to cancel if necessary and I personally would probably say I wouldn't consider it at 34 weeks even. Also you do have to factor in an active 4 year old - I'm sure it will be much more difficult than just going pregnant. Good luck whatever you decide about the trip and conceiving quickly.

Since it seems like you are planning on going in Jan, I wouldn't think there should be any problems. However, if you wanted to go in July or Aug...Well that is a whole other thing.

I personally, wouldn't have any problems going up to 36 weeks. But that is me. I had a relatively easy pregnancy, besides horrible ms in the first trimester, and worked (where I was on my feet for 8 hours a day) right up until I had my ds.

If you feel like you are over doing it, you could always rent a EMV (I think that is what they are called). I am sure you kiddo wouldn't mind riding around on that with you!

Just use common sense, stay hydrated, and take it easy.

Since you've been pregnant you know how 7-8 months feels! I flew to San Fran when I was 8 months preggers, and swore I would never fly that far along again. I was very healthy and not worried of going in labor while away, BUT I was so uncomfy on the plane and at the resort. I needed my bed and hot bath!

However, I think Disney is fun anytime! Your daughter sure would have a blast, and it would be neat to do before the new addition arrives! So based on that, I would go! Be sure to prop you feet up at night so those ankles don't swell after walking all day (wink!)

Oh and make sure you clear it with your doc beforehand. He should have a big say in any traveling that far along I think :)

Have a great trip & good~luck :sunny:

I just got back from disney world 3 days ago. We went for 10 days and I was 29-30 weeks pregnant. I did fine. I drank a ton of water and rode most all of the rides that my almost 3 year old rode. I only avoided the safari, indy cars. We were busy the whole time with rides that he could do. I was definately slower this time and my dr told me that if I felt funny I would have to be in a wheelchair but I did great. I did see a few pg women down there in wheelchairs and they said they were still having a great time. I would just check with your dr and if you get the ok then I would definately go.

I second the motion of making sure you have trip insurance if you book a package. I had the model pregnancy with my DS, low risk, perfect weight gain, not a thing to be concerned about until 34 weeks. My BP just went through the roof, I started swelling up like a balloon and within a few days developed pre-eclampsia. I went in to the hospital ASAP and ended up delivering at 35 weeks. Pregnancy is unpredictable so you just need to prepare.

All I have to say is that the 36-40 week gestation period is more like a guesstimate than a fact. If it were me, having had both 1 easy (40 week) and 1 extremely dangerous pregnancy(28 week), I wouldn't gamble that far out. Every woman and every pregnancy is different and just because you're feeling fine at one point doesn't mean you'll be feeling fine later on.

Four things can happen here. 1. You can go at 36 weeks and feel absolutely fine:) 2. You can go into labor early and be bringing a very new newborn with you. 3. You can go into labor while at WDW far away from your Dr. family &/or friends where they might want to keep the baby a while, do you have enough vacation time and money to switch return flights? Will your Insurance cover you? 4. You can go and be extremely uncomfortable.

I hope you'd be one of the lucky who go and have a great time.

You know your body best and what it can handle. It's your call, unless your OB advises otherwise. But there are so many uncertainties that in your shoes, I wouldn't do it. Earlier this year I had a totally normal pregnancy with no complications until DS suddenly dropped and I delivered him ten weeks preterm! I can't imagine what might've happened if I'd been out of town. Again, I had no warning signs (had been to the OB's that week and everything seemed normal!)
