Dumbledore, or Gandalf?

i really like dumbledore, but i'm gonna have to go with gandalf on this one. i have it on good authority that gandalf was tight with the creators of middle earth and i don't think dumbledore has friends in high places like that.

I love both books/movies and just can't choose between the two.

Now, what would be a good thread is who would win between - Lord Voldemort (oops, sorry, I mean You-Know-Who) or Sauron?? That would be a fun thread, hehe.

eenie, menie, minie moe....... that led me to Dumbledore, it was teh only way I could pick, even if it was just a freindly competition.

(which BTW is the only way I think these two would have ever faced off, also one must note that LOTR is said to take place in a more ancient time and HP is supposed to be modern times, so they would never really be able to "face-off")

I love speculations like this.

I'm not that familiar with Dumbledore, so please correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't he a teacher at Harry Potter's school? I'm guessing that Gandalf has more fighting experience than Dumbledore.

Even if Dumbledore is more powerful than Gandalf, knowing how to use magic in combat would be an asset.

Of course, they'd start fighting, then those kids would come flying in on their brooms to help their teacher, then a bunch of Hobbits would run in and start throwing food they took from the kitchen at the kids, leaving Gandalf and Dumbledore to sit back and watch the amusement.

Well considering I never saw Dumbledore battle an orc, troll, with a sword in battle, I have to say Gandalf.

But...I believe if it were a contest based solely on magic, I am going to have to say Dumbledore will give Gandalf a run for his money, possibly even beat him. Gandalf's magic was waning with the "beginning of man time" in ROTK.

You took the words right outta my mouth. Sure Dumbledore's great but Gandalf would mop the floor with his skinny English behind. After all, Gandalf came back from the dead, changing from Gandalf the Grey to Gandalf the White, one of the immortals.
