Fluff Debate: Should we share our first class seats with DSes

i am reposting this poll that was originally on the debate board because there is a perception that the CB is "kinder and gentler" and I am curious if the results will be the same. Five out of the six in our family are flying to Hawaii this summer with our frequent flyer miles. DH and I used extra miles to secure 2 first class seats. DS's, 22, 19, 16, will be seated in coach. DS 16 suggested that we "switch seats' on occasion so he can sit in first class. What are your opinions?

On long flights you can get up and stretch your legs and "visit" but musical chairs between first class and coach is discouraged.

I vote when the 16 year old has worked to afford the first class seat, then he can sit there. Until then, he can enjoy his bag of peanuts and can of Coke in coach and thank his lucky stars his parents can afford to take him to Hawaii.

I think he's very lucky to get to go to Hawaii at all. Simply going should make him happy. Besides, I do not think the airlines will let you switch seats between classes. Some airlines won't even let those in the "Cattle-car" section travel into the 1st class cabin.

But, it never hurts to ask.

Yes, I'm all for sharing. As a parent, I always try and give my kids what I know I would like.

I'm with Snoopy, Dawn. Lie back, stretch out your legs and enjoy those first class seats yourselves--you and dh have earned it. I'm sure that your DS 16 can "tough it out" in coach! Heck, I'd be sharing a dog crate in baggage if someone were paying for me to go to Hawaii!

I'm sure your ds will grow up to be a productive member of society, earn a great living and be able to afford first class seats to Hawaii one day. And when he does, make sure he takes his mom and dad and puts them in first class again!

Enjoy your trip! We're thinking of Hawaii for next year!

I think it's evident that I made up my mind. They will be sitting in coach and DH and I will be in first class. Note that the topic was Fluff Debate.

Bah! The kids need to learn to appreciate what they do have. Taking them on a vacation to Hawaii is hardly depriving your kids
