Florida residents unite!

Maybe you should start youre own blog if you want people to shut up. :lmao:

I don't know if this is a jab at me or sarcasm. I'm hopping the latter, but keep in mind, Johnodoodle, this site has a set of guidelines.

They don't care how often you go, they care about how much stuff you buy in the park. They don't make their money off of admissions, they make it off of food and "junk". Florida residents obviously buy less money making stuff.
If they aren't making money off of admissions then why do they feel the need to increase ticket prices??? Hmmmm??? :rolleyes1
Obviously they ARE making money off of admissions! That's just silly to think they're not!

Interesting...So you're saying Florida Residents don't spend cash at the parks...or on merchandise?

Lets look at it this way....

I go to Disney 6 times a year for at least 3 nights, (excluding day trips) stay at a resort, go to the parks daily. While at the parks I eat Disney food, buy Disney Drinks, and will get my children a Disney item. At Christmas time I drive the two hours to go shopping at Downtown Disney for specific Disney items. DO out of state residents do this? Can they take a trip to Disney to just shop? Most likely not....it would make no sense to, but as a Florida Resident I can and I do, it is why Disney had these discounts, they understood that instate guest would go there more then once and while they may not spend as much as an out of state guest in one visit, they will more then make up for that through multiple visits....so explain to me how Disney isn't making money off of me and other Florida residents?
:thumbsup2 I agree with your points completely, ConvenientTruth!

And how many threads are there on the BB about limited funds for souvies?? or how much for souvies? Also, many of your travelers (esp the international ones and the ones paying for luggage) are not buying hefty amounts of souvies because they don't want to pay hefty luggage fees to take a BUNCH of stuff home. Yes, they're selecting a couple of items, but it's not like they are buying suitcases full of merchandise. And how many threads are there complaining about how there's not really anything 'really unique' or 'super special' that they want from WDW other than maybe a Dooney bag or a piece of artwork (and apparently even the artwork selection is not nearly is as good as it was years ago). So, I'm not sure that the mds purchases are really that 'arguable'. I'm probably one of the minority that buys a good bit and is travelling by air. Most of the people that I talk to that are going to WDW once every 3, 4 or 5 years buy a few things...a special t shirt, one Cmas ornament, and their kids get a toy, maybe two...but that's about all. Oh, and maybe a set of ears for the kids!

soooooo for FL AP holders, the only change was "no difference in price between Child (3-9) and Adult (10+)"

If thats the case, the only change for me as a FL AP holder is about a $100 for my family of 4 ...

I just bought my passes last month and paid

$1591.00 for myself, wife and DD's 4&7

if I were to buy them today it would be $1700

not to be rude, but I think you need to recheck your math...
if you went to the window today, it would cost you $425 x 4 = 1700 + TAX of 110.50 for a Grand total of $1810.50. So now it would've cost you $219.50 more, not $100... just saying....

You really can't say anything on here without people getting their panties in a bunch huh? We're going on our 3rd year of AP and we might not spend as much money during ONE trip as non-Florida residents, but we must come pretty close throughout the year. We make at least 3 day trips a month and always eat on property and stay probably 4 or 5 times a year on site. Dessert parties, tables in wonderland, tons of souvenirs, we definitely give Disney some money.

I expected a price increase anyway, so no big deal. It does suck that my newly 3 year old has to pay as much as an adult pass now, but not as much as it would suck having to take a plane to get there! :goodvibes
my thoughts exactly.... I live just under 3 hours away... I knew prices would go up, they do every year.. and they go up for non-residents too.... but at least we can drive there on less than a half a tank of gas.. :thumbsup2

International guests have tons of free luggage. :lmao:

Going back to page 1. Legoland does NOT have a Florida resident discount, promos yes. Discounts are only on day tickets not passes. The discounts are 10% for AAA and military ;)

Wow you must be working at a slavery plantation. Time to change jobs. :lmao:

Your comments indicate that you live outside of the United States. I understand that in other countries it is the norm to receive 4 weeks or more of vacation - however in the United States normal is closer to 2 weeks - just sayin'....

For 15+ years, our family had FL seasonal passes. As our kids got older, it became harder and harder to work around the blackout dates with school...they had more school activities and we found ourselves barely using them. Plus, the price increases made it impossible to justify them in our budget. So a couple of years ago we decided-no more Disney tickets but we did buy seasonal Universal tickets.

We hadn't been to the parks since that time so I thought that we'd purchase the 3 day Florida resident tickets and take a Disney vacation next summer. Today I looked into the tickets and discovered the blackout dates.

So...we're NOT taking a Disney vacation. :sad2: It's just not worth it to me to pay the full price ($250+ for 3 days per person). However, our Universal tickets were set to expire October 1. I was going to let them expire (since we were doing Disney), but I'll either renew them or get Busch Gardens passes.

Incidently, I got a $67 (it's either $66 or $67) offer for All Star Sports in my inbox for Florida Residents for September. Only good for Sun.-Thurs. but since my kids have a Monday off in September, I was considering trying to take time off work that Monday and go enjoy the hotel for a night. After learning about the blackout dates, I'm not really interested anymore...that room can sit vacant and I'll take my $67 elsewhere.
