Florida residents unite!

Once more, I don't feel that non-residents should comment on something they have little to do with.

First of all, this is based all on ASSUMPTION.

False, no business (at least any successful business) does anything on an assumption!

They have facts and studies to back up any business decision they make.

I was talking about all of you. Have any of you seen this data? I don't think you have, thus it IS assumption.

Actually, the 1, 5, 6, and 7 Day ticket discounts have "ended." The no expiration option for FL Residents has "ended," and the freedom to use your FL ticket as you wish has "ended." The only thing that hasn't "ended" is the discount itself, as it is minimally available.

But you are still able to get a discount because you live in Florida.

I just don't get the thought that these resident discounts should never change. If a business if doing well they typically reduce discounts as they are not needed to drive revenue. I would guess that is what is going on here.

Let me ask you all one question:

Why are we arguing

I have not seen one person say "Oh, you were right. Perhaps, I should reconsider." Everyone is entitled to their own opinion and if you insult someone because their opinion is different then your own, you are a coward. You won't argue with fact just anger and range. I'm being 100% serious.

If you are like me and feel that Disney has done wrong, then email or call them. Otherwise, respectfully disagree and don't insult with others. This thread is just getting mean, so think before you post. Think real hard!

He referred to the assumption that FL residents spend less....

Pushing residents to buy full priced tickets or annual passes is a smart move for Disney....they know by changing certain aspects to the resident discount they can "encourage" those residents one way or another which will lead them to spend more on tickets or finally break down and buy an annual pass.

I don't see anyone making mean spirited comments, just a group of people discussing the situation and possible reasons behind it.

Perhaps, you should reread this thread. After you get through the Olive Gardens references, the comments telling people to stay in their room, people calling each other entitled, snobs, ignorant, and such, let me know what you think.

Sorry, I thought you were refering to more recent posts. Yes there may have been some posts earlier on that were borderline but it was very easy to read some of the early posts as people feeling Disney owed them these discounts.

Don't forget child's pricing on APs have ended! The increase I'm going to pay to get my son into Disney in Dec, vs what I would have spent two days ago, is astronomical!

But we're supposed to be ignoring non-Florida residents-remember?! If they don't like us, they can start their own anti-Florida resident thread and complain all they like about us there!

Bottom line is Disney is a business. It exists simply to make money and while we all like to believe it is a corporation with a "conscience" it still has to answer to its shareholders. Of course people previously receiving discounts will be upset once they are no longer available. It may or may not affect Disney's bottom line, but I would imagine Disney studied this issue before implementing the changes and decided it would still benefit them, so they went ahead. It will probably be like anything else, people will be upset at first then it will die down and things will go back to normal. Oh, they may lose a few, but probably very minimal and I don't think it will impact Disney very much. I know it is hard to hear for the residents but a hundred people, five hundred people, one thousand people (I am just pulling random numbers here) that no longer show up doesn't mean much to a theme park with their attendance numbers. Heck, they even mentioned the South Americans in their quarterly earnings statement, a growing demographic for them. Fact is, people that are huge Disney fans will just grudgingly complain as they hand over their money. But most will still go to WDW.

We are FL residents,we have Annual Passes,no blackout dates. Personally, we don't want to go during "the busy" time, especially during the days of summer! (We go here & there after 4pm during the summer) I really don't see why people who are FL residents-not all,are complaining! If your "mad" at Disney, go pay for another park. We happen to think Disney is worth paying the Annual Pass rate.

Well, you live only 45 minutes away. Many FL Residents (like myself) live 2+ hours away from WDW. I also don't really want to ONLY vacation at WDW. That being said, I don't get much vacation time with my job, so I can really only go away to WDW for 4 nights and then one other trip. That's it. Thus, an annual pass isn't worth it for us.

Wow you must be working at a slavery plantation. Time to change jobs. :lmao:

I've been a PAP holder for several years now and after seeing the rate hike (especially for kids) I may reconsider. There is no reason a child's pass should be equal to that of an adult especially when you consider that in order to receive most of the discounts you need to be over 21....

As for the FL residents being mad....why shouldn't they be....many FL residents have been long time loyal customers who took advantage of the FL resident rate to take more then one trip to WDW a year. the AP isn't for everyone so being able to buy 6,7,8 day tickets (at the FL rate) they can use on multiple trips was something they could take advantage of. The blackout dates seem to coincide with the dates kids are most likely out of school. So either pull you children out of school or pay full price.

soooooo for FL AP holders, the only change was "no difference in price between Child (3-9) and Adult (10+)"

If thats the case, the only change for me as a FL AP holder is about a $100 for my family of 4 ...

I just bought my passes last month and paid

$1591.00 for myself, wife and DD's 4&7

if I were to buy them today it would be $1700

I just looked under the summer FL Resident package offer and they are still offering discounted 1,3,4,5,6, and 7 day tickets with no blackout dates. This is up until August. I spoke to a lady on the phone, today, and she said that the changes with blackout dates and such are only effective to the ticket store not on packages. Great news! Let's see how long it lasts, though.

I just posted a question in on the Theme Parks Attractions thread on this...

If FL residents cannot buy MYW tickets, then it's more than just not getting a discount. It's being told that unless you buy the AP or a combination of single day/3-day/4-day tickets, FL residents are not welcome at the parks during the blackout dates.

This is the bigger deal for many families in FL.

Absolutely! Another one of my points I tried making yesterday and then all the non residents basicly said stay home or buy a one day gp ticket. These new changes are outrageous. I encourage all FL residents to write a complaint to Disney!

You really can't say anything on here without people getting their panties in a bunch huh? We're going on our 3rd year of AP and we might not spend as much money during ONE trip as non-Florida residents, but we must come pretty close throughout the year. We make at least 3 day trips a month and always eat on property and stay probably 4 or 5 times a year on site. Dessert parties, tables in wonderland, tons of souvenirs, we definitely give Disney some money.

I expected a price increase anyway, so no big deal. It does suck that my newly 3 year old has to pay as much as an adult pass now, but not as much as it would suck having to take a plane to get there! :goodvibes
