I have been gone due to hurricane. Is disney going to honor rate glitch from sunday?

we don't know for sure yet. Are you near where the storm hit? Is everything OK by you?

I am with disaster relief and I shipped out sunday night to mobile alabama. I have been to busy and this is the first chance I have had to try to get away and rest. Please pray for these people in this area. It will take a long time to recover from this.

has anyone else heard anything about this? whether or not they will honor?

Who had the earliest reservation?

Oct 5 is going to be the earliest reservation that could be booked. And I think I will go with the dumbfounded look on my face of the Lady on the phone said they would honor it :D.

I think I can say for many many Disers that we are praying for everyone affected by the hurricane, and for you for helping these people! :grouphug:

I have spoken with two CM's at CRO in the past two days and they have both verified that Disney is honoring these rates. NO changes can be made (ex: dates or resorts) to these reservations or you will lose the "special' rate. They also both said that no official notification will be sent. If anyone has any concerns, they should call CRO. Just don't change a thing on the reservation!!!

I will be there visiting my parents (FLA residents) from Nov 3 - 7th at CBR!

I hope you stay safe!

I have seen the pic's on the news. I thought we (the state of FL) were hit bad last year. All of the storms together didn't do the damage that Katrina did. The floods are unbelievable  My heart goes out to everyone there. You are doing such a wonderful deed. If anyone deserves a break (room discount) you do. Disney should honor the men & women that do the disaster relief. They may, they do some nice things like that once in a while.

Hey thanks for all the info. This is the first chance I have had to check this thread. I am glad to get such a cheap trip. I just hope my work will be done by then. It is really bad here. please pray for these people and if you can help out please donate to the red cross or salvation army. If you recieve any other info please reply to one of these threads. thanks

I am heading to mobile on tuesday with a buddy of mine to work the mobile canteen the Salvation Army has there for 10 days. We are suppose to move into Harrison, Mississippi a few days after we get there. What was it like there? A lot of damage?

Has anyone else gotten any further confirmation on this by calling? That they will be honoring the rates that is. :)

There has been several posts on this that they will honor as long as nothing is changed like the dates or resort. I know my aunts friend called & they told her yes, as long as there were no changes. I guess we will all know for sure when the first one of us tries. I know I have one at CS checking in on 10/14, anyone else have a date before that?

I have a question I hope someone can answer??..I got a call today from CRO about the ressies we made during the rate glitch... she was trying to get me to cancel our reservations and re-book. Here is the situation:

We booked ressies for 2 time periods when we heard about the glitch (5 rooms during Thanksgiving week and 5 rooms during Christmas week). I'm not a FL resident, but my aunt and uncle are, and they will be joining us on this trip; (we are only going to keep one set of ressies and cancel the other, we just haven't decided yet which week we will be going).

I made the reservation in my name and used my billing address, in MI, as it was my credit card used for the deposit. My aunt's name is the primary name on one of the other rooms and my uncle's name is on another. I was under the impression that all 5 of our rooms will qualify for the FL resident discount as long as they check in with us and show their FL ID's. The lady from CRO first told me that since it wasn't a FL address on the original ressie, the reservation wouldn't be valid and we should just cancel it and have them re-book. I asked her I go about just changing the ressies to their address and she put me on hold for about 10 mins... after she came back she tried to tell me that we would have to cancel 4 of the rooms because each FL resident can only get the discount for 3 rooms and we have 10 reserved. I explained to her that 5 were during Nov. and 5 were in Dec. so that shouldn't be a problem. She then told me that she isn't sure Disney will honor the ressie since it wasn't booked with a FL address.. in the end, she never could give me a straight answer and said that I might get another call letting me know whether or not they will honor the rate.

I looked at the Disney website and it stated to receive the FL resident rate you just need to show proof of residency at check-in. Has anyone had any experience with a similar situation? I would hate for everyone to arrive at the hotel and then be told they won't honor our reservation.

Thanks!

We have booked under the FL res. rate several times and we haven't "lived" in Florida for several years. My DH is active duty military and our official state of residence is Florida, with both of us having a FL driver's license. Every time I make a ressie, it is with our current address and they always tell me "this rate will only be valid to FL residents". I relay our situation and we have never had a problem, since we are technically FL residents. I don't know how this will work for you, though, since you have your name on the ressie and you are not the FL resident.

However, when the CM said that she didn't know whether or not they would honor the rate b/c it wasn't made with a FL address, is just false. I always use our current address and then show our DL at check-in. However, both the name on the ressie and the name on the DL, match.

I hope it all works out for you.

that is the clue... your DL matches your name.. Military is a totally different case. Technically, you are a FL resident, other poster is not.

I could be wrong, but I thouhgt the FL resident was the one that had to book the room, not just be in it (they don't care who is in it as long as the person that made it was from FL). I would think at check in they would want a FL address for the person who made the ressie. I know I have booked 3 stays with the glitch & one stay it is for 2 rooms. I am a FL resident & used my name, address & credit card. I haven't gotten any calls asking me to change my ressie. I do know that if you change it, you will be charged full price. Maybe you should give them a call & ask them instead of waiting for them to call you again. I wouldn't want to get there thinking I was getting that rate for 5 rooms & then I don't!!

Can someone give me a quick overview of what this "glitch" rate is? I am not a FL resident, jsut curious.
Thank you

There was a computer malfunction in booking rooms for Florida residents. Someone booked it accidently, then it was shared on the Internet and before it could be removed others took advantage of the situation and booked rates as low as $22 a night for deluxe resorts.

Thanks for the responses... I haven't heard from anyone at CRO again but I will call them to verify they will honor our reservations...actually, my aunt and uncle's name is the primary name on 2 of the ressies, I just had to use my address for billing purposes- so it has their names but with my address.. I believe this would be a similar situation to Mickey Fliers.. the name on our reservations will match the name on the FL drivers license, so hopefully we won't have any problems.

Thanks!
